Chapter 45 Kun 4 Lang
Chapter 45: Chapter 45 Kun 4 Lang
"Flameless Swordsmanship, although it only has two ultimate moves, the levels of the moves also divide into different realms..." Kun Si Lang drew his longsword from his back.
"Three Suns Sword should be used like this...!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the blade lit up with a red light, and he diagonally slashed toward Lin Xin at a steady pace. Several strands of scorching hot Inner Qi flowed invisibly from both sides, assaulting him.
"Three Suns Sword!"
Lin Xin executed the same move.
Both red blades collided with a ’pfff’ sound, but instead of the clang of metal, it was a dull thud like that of wood.
Several streams of heat collided explosively beside the two men, canceling each other out, but still, a cluster of heat quietly aimed for Lin Xin’s lower body.
Lin Xin’s face grew cold.
"Despicable!"
He hadn’t even had a chance to speak when the young man from before imitated his voice and shouted it out.
Lin Xin hastily dodged to the side to narrowly avoid the heat stream, but then the opponent unleashed another Three Suns Sword. This time, several clusters of heat attacked his lower body from three different directions.
Terrified, Lin Xin retreated awkwardly, yet he still couldn’t evade one cluster of heat, grazing his arm slightly, causing his clothes to immediately blacken and nearly igniting.
"Shameless!"
The young man’s voice came again.
Lin Xin turned to give him a look, seeing the fellow standing off to the side with a grin, enjoying the spectacle.
"What’s wrong, junior brother?" Kun Si Lang asked softly, "Are you not feeling well? Would you like your elder brother to rub it for you?"
His voice was insidiously soft, his eyes never leaving Lin Xin’s lower body, exuding a hint of lewdness that made Lin Xin’s skin crawl.
"Innate Yang!" Gritting his teeth, Lin Xin vibrated his sword, quickly heating the area around the blade, with a swirl of scorching Inner Qi Flow spinning rapidly around it. The entire sword dulled, no longer showing any red light.
But the temperature around the blade continued to rise.
"Innate Yang?" Kun Si Lang’s eyes flashed, and with one hand on his sword, he too executed the ultimate move of the Flameless Swordsmanship, but his Innate Yang was obviously much stronger than Lin Xin’s.
Lin Xin was also wielding his sword with one hand, but his other hand was already reaching for the hilt of the Solar Yang Talisman Sword on his back.
Both sides had Inner Qi swirling at high speeds, the temperature rising by the second, getting hotter and hotter. However, it was evident that Kun Si Lang’s heat stream was much more potent and flexible. He also had more streams than Lin Xin.
"Stop!"
Suddenly, a clear male voice fell into the ears of both men.
Kun Si Lang and Lin Xin both paused, then saw a young man holding a sword in one hand, lightly landing between them.
Hiss...
A burst of pale, icy Qi released explosively, instantly cooling down both men’s Innate Yang Qi.
"Master Uncle?" Lin Xin immediately called out.
This young man was none other than Ji Lu, the Master Uncle who had initially led him into the Sect.
Ji Lu, clad in flowing white robes and a black Taoist coronet, his expression slightly cold.
"Kun Si Lang, just like your brother, you have limited strength but a remarkable capacity for causing trouble, don’t you?"
Kun Si Lang smiled placidly.
"Elder brother flatters me, now that a Qi Cultivation elder brother has stepped in, I will spare this youngster."
He looked at Lin Xin again.
"This little guy is really adorable. He made me uncontrollably leave my seclusion to tease him." His voice carried a subtle sharpness.
"What I mean is, pretend you never saw him," Ji Lu said, frowning slightly.
"Oh dear, that won’t do. Even if you are a Qi Cultivation elder brother, you can’t interfere with someone’s private life, right?" Kun Si Lang laughed sinisterly.
"What will it take for you to leave him alone?" Ji Lu’s tone grew colder.
"Master Uncle..." Lin Xin opened his mouth to speak but was silenced by a wave of Ji Lu’s hand, which unleashed an inexplicable Qi Flow that perfectly blocked his mouth, preventing any sound from escaping. He was unable to voice his next words.
Lin Xin was speechless, knowing this was Ji Lu, his Master Uncle’s good intention, but he feared no Kun Si Lang. With the Solar Yang Talisman Sword and the Luminous Talisman Sword at his disposal, even the Innate experts from the Inner Sect would have to defeat him before proceeding, and the lesser Innate might not even be his match.
Just as he was about to break through the sealed Qi, he thought again that neither his Solar Yang Talisman Sword nor his Luminous Talisman Sword was fit for use in such a public setting. This was not the time for showing off his strength. He would find Kun Si Lang later to settle the score.
"What will it take?" Kun Si Lang smiled, "Look at what you’re saying. Free love is all about mutual consent. You, as an elder, surely can’t interfere with their personal lives, right?"
"An Embroidery Seal Flower," Ji Lu spoke.
"Tsk tsk tsk, an Embroidery Seal Flower... just what I need, elder brother, you really are generous," Kun Si Lang’s smile grew even wider.
"Isn’t this exactly what you wanted? You found out I had the right to distribute Embroidery Seals and deliberately provoked my junior, even having someone notify me to come here."
Ji Lu said coldly.
Lin Xin’s gaze turned frosty, realizing the other party wasn’t simply stepping out to provoke a fight; he soon regained his composure.
"Big brother, you can’t wimp out now!" At this moment, the young boy ran to the back of Lin Xin and whispered quietly, "This is the time when you need to stare him down with that fierce look of yours!"
Lin Xin’s eyes indeed were icily fixed on Kun Si Lang.
Kun Si Lang also returned the stare with a chilly look in his eyes.
After a dozen seconds, Kun Si Lang’s cheeks suddenly turned red, and he turned his head away.
"That’s just too hot to handle," he began to squirm.
Lin Xin only felt his stomach churn, a rising urge to vomit.
"Brother, it’s truly a coincidence, believe it or not, but I do. Little Lin Xin, I’ve got other business, so I’ll take my leave now, I’ll be heading out," Kun Si Lang said with an embarrassed glance at Lin Xin, his cheeks slightly flushed as he quickly entered the stone house.
"Big brother!"
The young boy muttered behind Lin Xin.
"Look at that gaze of his, that evil curve as he sticks out his butt, based on my years of experience, that guy is definitely no good, not the kind that..."
"Years of experience, you say..." Lin Xin turned to look at him with a peculiar expression in his eyes.
The boy touched his head awkwardly, chuckled, and stopped talking. However, his embarrassment lasted less than three seconds before he sidled up again like a pest.
Lin Xin ignored him, turning instead to look at his mentor Ji Lu.
"You alright?" Ji Lu asked casually, noticing the char on his arm.
"It’s nothing, just a graze," Lin Xin shook his head.
"Kun Si Lang is powerful and has a tricky personality. Stay away from him if you can," Ji Lu whispered, "If you need anything, come find me at the Elixir Hall; many people there know me."
"So, mentor, you came out this time because...?"
"This matter is also because of you, regarding the Yin Blood Bird task. Now that task has been taken by me and a few friends. Hearing that you came out of seclusion, I came over to ask about the details," Ji Lu explained.
Lin Xin then understood and whispered all the precautions he could share, and the two of them stood by the river and talked about Bo Yunzi. That fellow is now a Commander in the Song State, having ’whitewashed’ himself, living a quite comfortable life.
When Ji Lu left, he frowned slightly as he glanced at the lively young boy.
"That lad, stay away from him, he’s carrying something troublesome on him."
Before Lin Xin could grasp the meaning, he saw Ji Lu leap into the air, disappearing around the corner of the stone house with a few bounds.
"My name is Dongyue, surname Dong, as in east-west-north-south. Yue as in moon. What about you, big brother? What’s your honorable surname?" The boy’s face beamed with an enthusiastic smile as he stepped forward to ask.
"Your honorable surname, big brother?"
Recalling Ji Lu’s advice, Lin Xin looked at the boy with a hint of curiosity.
He seemed like any ordinary disciple from the outer area, but his clothes were disheveled, a silver sheath longsword hung loosely on his back, and his oversized clothing made him appear as if a child was wearing an adult’s clothes.
However, his features were quite handsome; with a change of clothes, he might even pass for a dashing playboy.
"Big brother, the moment I saw you, I felt we were destined to be brothers. That special kind of closeness is indescribable," Dongyue chattered incessantly behind Lin Xin with a grin on his face.
"We’re not acquainted, are we?" Lin Xin felt this fellow was being overly ingratiating without good reason, likely up to no good.
"Won’t we get acquainted through interaction?" Dongyue chuckled.
Ignoring him, Lin Xin picked another stone house for himself, number one hundred and three. When the owner of the house saw Lin Xin arrive, he didn’t waste words and began moving out.
He had been one of the spectators who watched Lin Xin’s fight with Kun Si Lang and knew he could not win, so he promptly packed up without making a fuss.
"Tsk tsk, challenging for a stone house in the outer area usually only happens once a few months. Big brother, you took on three opponents in quick succession, it’s truly rare!" Dongyue kept following Lin Xin and even volunteered to help with the move, making Lin Xin too embarrassed to send him away.
"So there haven’t been any other challenges?" Lin Xin had people helping with the move, all workers Dongyue had actively brought over from the market. These were ordinary people who lived within the sect year-round.
He stood by the door, watching as five or six people bustled in and out with items, casually chatting with Dongyue.
"Oh, there were. Last month, the twenty-second ranked Feng Xian challenged the nineteenth ranked Situ Gang but lost. The month before, there were two challenges, both at the Innate level. The month before that..." Dongyue was ready to go on.
"Enough, enough." Lin Xin interrupted impatiently. "Other than challenges and tasks, are there any other activities in Tingjian Valley?" He realized that despite being here for some time, he hadn’t thoroughly explored the place.
"The disciples here are either training hard or competing for cultivation resources every day, who has the time for other activities?" Dongyue said offhandedly, "But if you insist on a major event, it would be the Servant Market."
"Servant Market?" Lin Xin heard of it for the first time.
"Yeah, the areas where our Four Sects and several surrounding sects have jurisdiction are actually within a huge basin, and beyond the basin, only a few top masters can travel freely. There are all sorts of scary demons, weird and inexplicable regions everywhere, and also many odd and interesting places," Dongyue grinned.
"Anyway, my dream is to become a top master one day, then travel and explore every corner of the world!"
