Chapter 410: Chapter 404 Hunter 9

The trees next to the monastery started to shake, and sand and stones on the ground whirled around, with some falling leaves being blown off and rolling on the ground, making a scratching sound.

In mid-air, a cluster of golden clouds slowly floated over, with a hint of evil and mysterious aura hidden within.

Boom!

A mass of golden smoke exploded on one side of the courtyard, revealing an old man in white with a swollen bump on his forehead.

The old man had a benevolent expression and leaned on a black walking stick in his hand.

"Qingyun, this time you have lost...."

He revealed a golden imperial decree scroll in his hand. As soon as he appeared, the entire courtyard was enveloped in a suffocatingly huge pressure.

The handsome man coughed twice, got up from the blanket, and a hint of displeasure appeared on his face.

"If it weren’t for such matters, we wouldn’t have disturbed the peace of this secluded place. Daoist Master Hua Qing sure knows how to make a scene, but this is still Vajra Temple."

"Does Mr. Qing also know this is Vajra Temple?" Daoist Master Hua Qing let out a cold laugh. "The imperial decree is here, all the princes have either fled or scattered. What more do you have to say?"

"The outcome is already determined. What more is there to say?" Mr. Qing replied indifferently, "Let’s fight if we must, but let’s not involve the innocent."

"Involve?" Daoist Master Hua Qing shook his head, glancing at Lin Xin and the others nearby. "Since they have been drawn in, they can no longer be considered innocent."

His eyes were indifferent and merciless, clearly to him, killing a few bystanders affected by the situation had no impact on him.

Lin Xin’s frown deepened. He was only standing to the side, wanting to listen to the chanting, but ever since this old man appeared, there had been no peace, with all the young monks peeking out from the main hall with curiosity, oblivious to the impending disaster.

If it wasn’t necessary, he truly did not want to start a fight and disturb this peaceful atmosphere.

"Mirror Mystique Sect has been annihilated, Fifth Prince has fled to Liang City, the tide has turned. Even with your ingenious strategies, Mr. Qing, you can’t control the overall situation alone," Daoist Master Hua Qing stated calmly.

"It’s a pity...." Mr. Qing showed a look of regret. "It’s a pity that the Fifth Prince did not listen to my advice back then. Otherwise, Mirror Mystique Sect wouldn’t have come to this plight."

"It’s too late to say anything now. Let’s send Mr. Qing on his way."

Daoist Master Hua Qing stood with his hands behind his back, his gaze fixed on his opponent, seemingly suggesting that the other should take his own life.

Suddenly, outside the temple, the presence of a large, dense group of cultivators rapidly emerged, with swaths of airborne Black Armored soldiers wielding their weapons, surrounding the entire temple.

Swish!

The sound of a great many bows being drawn.

Lin Xin originally didn’t want to intervene, but at this point, even if he wanted to leave, he feared being implicated as well.

Listening to the conversation, he had begun to understand that he might have been drawn into the strife and gambits between the Dynasty and the Red Spine Sect.

Mr. Qing must be a member of the Imperial Clan. The Imperial strength is profound, and even in recent years when they have been extremely weak, they are not something that the Red Spine Sect can easily eradicate.

When Mirror Mystique Sect was destroyed, he had just been passing by and had inadvertently witnessed the confrontation between the Fifth Prince and the Red Spine Sect.

Now, unexpectedly, he found himself in a similar situation.

"The Red Spine Sect again...." he muttered under his breath.

Suddenly, Lin Xin spoke up, drawing the attention of Mr. Qing and Daoist Master Hua Qing amongst others.

"I originally didn’t want to meddle, but now that I’ve been dragged into this...."

He looked around at the surroundings.

"Who might you be?" Daoist Master Hua Qing seemed to sense something was amiss and narrowed his eyes.

"I still have a score to settle with you...." Lin Xin said coldly. He too had been hunted down by the Red Spine Sect, and had it not been for joining the Immortal Alliance later, he might still have been wanted.

"And you’ve spoiled my good mood."

He slowly walked towards Daoist Master Hua Qing.

His footsteps were slow but steady.

Strangely, every step that landed on the ground was extremely clear, as if something was gently tapping on a drumhead.

The thuds were continuous and clear.

A white and gold small fish began to flutter around Daoist Master Hua Qing, swimming incessantly.

He stepped back, feeling something was off.

"Kill him!!" he suddenly roared.

Almost at the instant of his command, Lin Xin surged forward, his figure creating a massive white airwave, the sharp and piercing noise of breaking the sound barrier shaking the entire temple.

A terrifying, indistinct red shadow, in the blink of an eye, slammed savagely into the center of his chest like a ferocious beast.

A single palm!!!

Boom!!

With a muffled palm strike, Lin Xin’s cruelly forceful hand was imprinted right in the center of Daoist Master Hua Qing’s chest.

His body’s Protective Aura had no effect whatsoever, and the white and gold fish frantically pecked at Lin Xin’s arm but to no avail, as if pecking at an incredibly hard metal object.

"You!...."

Daoist Master Hua Qing’s eyes bulged, seemingly in disbelief as he looked down at the dark red arm imprinted on his chest.

He could not believe that a human could reach such a degree of speed. With his present level of cultivation, he had not even clearly seen the other’s actions. By the time he reacted, the Protective Aura had been broken, and he had already been stricken in the chest.

Shick!!!

A Red Demon Sword suddenly protruded from his back, carrying a large swathe of bloody red liquid.

Lin Xin casually pulled out the Demonic Sword, watching the other party stagger a few steps backwards, clutching his chest.

It was only then that the relentless rain of arrows began to fall at the command, fired toward him en masse.

But all the arrows were blocked by the Protective Aura that automatically appeared around him, their heads smashing against the transparent Spiritual Light Film, sending out ripples.

However, the ripples were quickly penetrated.

Arrow after arrow continued to hit Lin Xin’s Armor, emitting crisp clanging sounds, yet they were unable to break through.

"Is this the Red Spine Sect’s Shooting Demon Arrow?"

Lin Xin reached out as if to break off a branch, casually pinching an arrow, its tip like a bent hook and its body featuring a black and white alternating special paint, with a faint hint of spiritual symbols.

The situation had changed too quickly, from Lin Xin’s action to Hua Qing’s ancestor falling to the ground, a gush of bloody water spilling from his chest, bereft of the power to resist. This series of events did not take more than two breaths.

So much so that not only Mr. Qing’s servants with their mouths agape were too slow to react.

Even the large group of Red Spine Sect’s government troops surrounding the place were at a loss, without someone to give orders, they had no command and did not know what to do next.

For a while, over a hundred people were stunned, and soon after, an Armored Soldier clad in white took over the command.

His face twisted, he pointed at Lin Xin.

"The ancestor was ambushed by him, kill him at close range!"

At once, all the government troops, as if devoid of fear, rushed towards Lin Xin.

The commanding officer, however, turned and fled far away, trying to escape.

Lin Xin casually released a Sword Qi. The blood-like Sword Qi caught up with the man in a blink, then split him into two from behind. He watched the man fall from the sky from afar, lifeless.

Only then did he begin to deal with the government troops swarming in from all sides.

Upon closer inspection, each of these government troops had expressionless faces and were pervaded by an eerie, deathly aura.

Some wielded curved bows, the bodies of which had blades on both ends.

Others held long spears and scimitars, their movements agile, fearlessly rushing at Lin Xin like madmen.

What astonished him even more was that every one of these government troops had almost Second Grade cultivation!

In other words, the hundred or so troops here, apart from being armed with Shooting Demon Arrows that were effective even against Daoist Masters, all had Second Grade cultivation, equivalent to the level of ordinary Qi Cultivators!

Yet looking at these people’s bodies, they completely resembled the besieging Dead Soldiers.

Mr. Qing and others, on the other hand, tried their best to stay far away from the battlefield.

"I didn’t expect... Vajra Temple really does have a turning point between life and death; it wasn’t in vain that I devoted my efforts and ten years of cultivation to obtain this result," Mr. Qing said with a shine in his eyes as he watched the red-armored man surrounded by the crowd.

"That was really close, I thought I was done for just now!" a young girl beside him stuck out her tongue, somewhat frightened.

"Sister, you seemed very calm though."

Another young girl looked at her sister indifferently.

"I just trust the master."

"Enough, enough," Mr. Qing shook his head, "This man has overwhelming martial strength, it’s odd, he clearly hasn’t reached Yuan Jing yet, but he could block so many Shooting Demon Arrows. Very strange."

"What does master plan to do?" the elder sister asked in a low voice.

"Let him block for us for a while. Having killed Hua Qing’s ancestor, the Red Spine Sect will not let things rest easily. It won’t be long before Yuan Jing seeks us out. We should take the opportunity to run."

Mr. Qing’s face remained composed and calm, but he quietly transmitted his voice to the two girls.

"Isn’t this... not quite right? After all, he’s blocking the disaster for us... and he saved us," the younger sister said with some reluctance.

"Hehe, this isn’t saving us. We don’t need his help. Once we got to Vajra Temple, I was bound to be unharmed. This is my opportunity, not about whether he wants to save us or not, he has no choice," Mr. Qing said with calm confidence.

He turned and walked towards the temple’s exit.

"Let’s go. We need to leave here quickly before this man dies."

The two sisters immediately followed quickly, glancing sympathetically at Lin Xin who was still fighting as they approached the door.

The three guards, speechless, hurried forward.

Dead Soldier after Dead Soldier of the Red Spine Sect madly rushed towards the center of the temple, swarming relentlessly, fearless in their death.

But each rush was easily torn into shreds of flesh and scattered on the ground by Lin Xin.

A left fist for one, a right palm crushing two, the spin of his body breaking a swath with a sweep of his leg.

Suddenly, several people leapt at Lin Xin from behind, trying to bring him down.

But he simply turned around sharply, flinging his arm, and a dark red blade shot out from his back, like spikes growing out, impaling and killing all the people behind him.

The ground around him was littered with slaughtered corpses; the bodies piled higher and higher, yet the Red Spine Sect’s troops continued to rush forward fearlessly until the last one was thoroughly killed.

Standing still, Lin Xin’s originally dark red Armor seemed to be soaked in blood, becoming even more brilliant and bright.

As for himself, he was as calm as when the battle began, expressionless, stable in his breath, as if the fight hadn’t even been a warm-up.

After glancing at the bodies strewn across the ground, he looked in the direction where Mr. Qing and the others had left.

"Raising people as weapons for training, huh?"
