Chapter 307: Chapter 300 Helplessness Part 1

As the Black Fox youth was sweating profusely, the old man finally stopped wasting words.

"Tell me, where did that cultivator run off to?"

The Black Fox youth stepped back, his face somewhat pale.

"Junior... junior isn’t very clear."

His speech started to stammer. He was so nervous that his thoughts became somewhat unclear.

"If you don’t know, then who would?" the old man said coldly, "Not speaking, is it?"

He raised his hand, a faint white light shimmering in his palm.

Boom!!

Suddenly, a burst of golden light exploded in the distance, as if massive energies were colliding and battling each other.

"This is too much!!" A huge voice roared from afar like a beast’s call. "What of True Monarch Huang Yuan’s decree? Using the search to seize the treasures in my mansion, this matter must be addressed even if it reaches the sovereign of the Chi Sha Alliance!"

Within the golden light, a tall figure was fighting fiercely with several Foundation Establishment Cultivators. Jets of golden light were splattering, spiritual energy overflowing, invisible forces shattering the surrounding trees and rocks.

"Daoist Fish-Snake, we are acting on the decree of the True Monarch. If you have any objections, you should take them directly to the three Daoist Masters to argue, not with us who are merely following orders."

Before the voice fell, a white Escape Light suddenly appeared beside the tall figure, striking down fiercely with a palm.

A rumble like thunder, blue lightning flashed in the sky, exploding in a burst of white light, and instantly the figure fell hard like a meteor.

"Capture him, take him away." The Escape Light stopped, revealing Que Yue True Monarch’s faint silhouette.

"Yes!"

Several sect experts nodded in agreement.

By this point, this entire forest was witnessing various Demon Kings and reclusive cultivators clashing with the search teams.

Beams of light continuously shot up into the sky; some Foundation Establishment Cultivators could suppress them, while others required Golden Core True Monarchs to personally attend.

Three people with their own sect’s True Monarchs were busily running to and fro.

Cold sweat began to seep out of the Black Fox youth’s forehead; he hadn’t realized that their moves would be so extensive, mobilizing so many people just to search for the whereabouts of his benefactor.

The elderly man was briefly interrupted and also narrowed his eyes, a trace of coldness flashing through them.

He looked at the Black Fox youth again and began to speak anew.

"Alright, you see the situation now, right? Hurry up and lead me to that cultivator, I can spare you from death, otherwise... you know the consequences."

As thoughts raced through the Black Fox youth’s mind, his mouth was forced to speak.

"Senior, junior genuinely does not know where that cultivator is."

"Hehe."

The old man started coldly laughing, reaching out to levitate the youth into the air.

"Then let me personally perform a Soul Search."

"No!!!" The Black Fox youth panicked at the mention of a Soul Search, cold sweat breaking out, and he quickly began to beg for mercy.

"Senior, no! I will take you there right now!"

"That’s more like it." The old man nodded satisfactorily and slowly put him down.

After the Black Fox youth was set down, he breathed a sigh of relief. Glancing at the cave entrance, he gritted his teeth.

"Senior, that person is in this cave. Please follow me."

He led the way towards the Star Spin Cave, with the old man showing no surprise, coldly following behind, slowly floating in.

*******************

Buzz!!

Another burst of white light blossomed.

Lin Xin wiped the sweat on his forehead from within the white cocoon.

His gaze was fixed on the last three critical points of the banishment—three final formation limits demanding his full attention and focus without any distraction. If he failed, not only would his previous efforts be wasted, but a massive backlash could occur.

Given the power of this banishment, Lin Xin estimated that a backlash could instantly destroy half of his body, far exceeding the wounds he received during the battle with the Heaven’s Will Saber.

He would be fortunate to escape with his life.

Suddenly, a faint noise came from outside, seeming like someone had triggered the defensive and alert formation he had set up for the Black Fox youth.

"Someone?"

He distinctly felt the presence was not as weak as Black Fox youth’s, but a foreign aura slowly approaching. His caution immediately heightened.

He was in the middle of breaking the formation; any interruption now would lead to a backlash, rendering all his previous efforts futile. This was a time when he could absolutely not afford to be disturbed.

He had reminded the Black Fox youth before, who definitely knew not to interfere, but since he was still bringing someone in, it indicated it might be under coercion and the situation was urgent.

"I must speed up!"

His mind grew anxious.

*************************

Within the Star Spin Cave, bypassing several mechanisms, the Black Fox youth led the old man around in circles deep in the cave, aiming to head as far away from Lin Xin as possible.

"I just brought that person in this area earlier, how come he’s gone now?"

The youth feigned confusion, mixing the urgency and fear of being coerced into his expression.

"We’ve circled this place three times already, boy, are you trying to stall for time?" The old man had evidently realized his intentions, and his tone grew somewhat threatening.

"Junior... junior wouldn’t dare..." Black Fox youth’s cold sweat broke out again.

"Within the time it takes an incense stick to burn, if you cannot find that person, then you may as well be dead," the elder said bluntly.

The Black Fox youth shuddered immediately and forced a few dry laughs, knowing he could not stall any longer. The gap in their cultivation was simply too vast; he had been overpowered by the elder’s spiritual pressure, leaving no room for resistance.

This old man’s cultivation level was unfathomably high, at the very least above Foundation Establishment.

He had no choice but to lead him directly to where Lin Xin was, silently praying that Lin Xin was already prepared.

As they twisted and turned along their way, the two of them finally arrived at the location of the two-headed fox.

Upon seeing the two-headed fox, a flicker of surprise crossed the elder’s eyes.

"This place... is quite interesting."

"This was my father’s cultivation practice place," said the Black Fox youth simply. "That person should be inside. It looks like a banishment formation has been set up outside," he added, shrinking back in fear.

"Formation?" The elder’s eyes shone with a golden light as he carefully started examining the entrance of the cave beneath the two-headed fox.

There, indeed, flowed a semi-transparent curtain of light with colorful halos circulating within it—a true formation.

****************

Inside the white cocoon, Lin Xin had already heard the footsteps approaching, growing anxious.

"It’s really a case of fearing what comes. I don’t even know if this formation can stop the person outside! It would be terrible if it couldn’t."

At this moment, he had no other choice but to seek to quickly deactivate the banishment formation in front of him.

Vast amounts of runes flowed past his vision, a few turning red automatically which he then selected and remembered individually. His hands sent out bursts of spiritual energy, Seal Arts, linking these chosen runes together.

With both hands, he rapidly inscribed numerous extremely intricate miniature defensive arrays, the different arrays combining to produce subtle effects that slowly interacted with these runes.

With each interaction, the red light on those runes faded a bit.

Boom!

Suddenly, another formation unexpectedly collapsed again.

Now, only two were left.

Just two more to completely deactivate the entire banishment.

It was a bit strange, though, that the person led by the Black Fox youth to the doorway did not make any move to attack, simply standing motionless at the entrance.

Lin Xin could feel the terrifying aura inside him through the formation, inscrutable and profound.

Although anxious and not understanding the other party’s intentions, if he could buy time, Lin Xin was more than happy to have more time to break the formation, quickly concentrating his mind on the banishment before him.

*****************

At the entrance.

The elder’s eyes gleamed as he stared at the banishment formation method in front of him. His expression was calm, but his heart was already stirring up turbulent waves.

"Such brilliance... using formations to break formations, to inscribe such a volume of different arrays in such short time and combine them, this is, this is truly miraculous!!"

He seemed to also understand the way of the Formation Talisman. At this moment, he was so shocked by the aura inside the defensive formation through the sensation alone that his intent to forcibly enter was disrupted.

Staring at the entrance for some time, he finally let out a slow breath.

"Come on, let’s go inside. I don’t believe he hasn’t given you a way to enter the formation," he said.

He turned to the Black Fox youth.

The latter shuddered again and could only nod reluctantly.

Guiding the elder through a specific sequence and direction, they quickly entered the defensive formation and into the interior of the stone chamber.

Inside, there was nothing but a large white cocoon quietly standing in the center of the bookshelf, its surface pulsating with white light, mysterious and unfathomable.

"I am Dao Jiao. I have seen the young Daoist inside," the elder said, unusually polite as he greeted Lin Xin within the cocoon.

"Daoist friend, you coerced the little fox to come in, what do you seek?" Lin Xin’s voice emanated from within the cocoon.

The elder smiled slightly.

"You must be at a critical moment and unable to extricate yourself, right?"

"What do you think? If I wanted to extricate myself, it’s not that I don’t have a way, I just don’t want to pay that price," Lin Xin returned.

Lin Xin naturally wouldn’t really say he was completely without means. If his weaknesses were exposed, the other might just demand the sky.

"Extricate yourself?" The elder chuckled.

"Do you know who refined that banishment?"

"I would like to hear the details," Lin Xin replied calmly.

"This banishment was personally refined by the Golden Talisman of True Monarch Huang Yuan, initially used to lock the Heaven’s Will Saber to prevent it from escaping into the Cave Heaven at will. Turns out, you picked up a bargain, don’t you think it vexed him?" the elder said with narrowed eyes and a smirk.

"True Monarch Huang Yuan..." Even within the cocoon, Lin Xin felt a chill run down his spine.

He was confident, aware that his strength wasn’t measured by his cultivation level, and battling beyond his level was a common affair, but even so, he clearly understood that he was at the peak of Daoist Master strength, and any higher level of Dao Seeking, if the opponent was careful and not caught off guard, he realistically couldn’t defeat them.

Let alone those at the Scenic Level or older monsters beyond Dao Seeking.

Anyone who could reach the Scenic Level was without exception a top expert who dominated their realm, capable of founding their own sect.

Even the youngest were at least five to six hundred years old. These monsters, rich in experience and cunning, were not easily fooled by simple tricks; one could only truly compete using raw strength.

True Monarch Huang Yuan was indeed one of those genuine Scenic Level old monsters. (To be continued. If you like this work and wish to support it, we welcome you to visit qidian.com to vote and sponsor. We appreciate your support. For mobile users, please read at m.qidian.com.)
