Chapter 270: Chapter 263 Meeting the Snake Cave Master - Part 1

Hearing about Divine Skills, Lin Xin also became somewhat solemn. Divine Skills were the most unpredictable things, where a moment’s carelessness could capsize the ship in the gutter. There were simply too many bizarre abilities within them.

"Just focus on breaking the Formation. If an opponent comes, I’ll handle them!" Huo Yinqi declared seriously.

But that Luo surnamed man was still troubled.

Huo Yinqi suddenly felt helpless, her figure flashing in front of the Formation Patterns before striking them with her palm.

Bang!

The Formation Patterns lit up for a moment but remained unchanged.

"It’s useless, the Formation Patterns are connected to the earth’s veins. Even if you were twice as strong, you wouldn’t be able to breach the seal," the man with the Luo surname said softly, looking down somewhat ashamedly under Huo Yinqi’s gaze, his voice getting lower and lower.

"Then how do we break it? Tell me, and I’ll do it!" Huo Yinqi demanded decisively.

"Without understanding of the Formation Patterns... it’s useless..." The man with the Luo surname took a couple of steps back, his face paling. "And judging by the strength of the Formation Patterns, they were set up not long ago. The Formation setter must be close - definitely a Snake Cave master.... If we’re discovered while breaking the Formation, we’re dead for sure! It’s not worth losing our lives over a few trinkets!"

"Is it really as formidable as you say?" Lin Xin was skeptical and stepped forward. "I’ll try to break the Formation. Regardless, let’s save people first and consider the rest later!"

The moment he spoke, Huo Yinqi and the man with the Luo surname both turned their gaze towards him.

"You?!" the man exclaimed in surprise. "You understand Formation Path?"

"A little," Lin Xin nodded, approaching the Formation Patterns with a faint white light for drawing Formation Patterns glowing in his hand.

"No! No! You’ll get us all killed!" Stunned for a moment, the man with the Luo surname suddenly lunged toward Lin Xin, screaming. "Drawing the Snake Cave people here, we’ll all die!"

"We’ll leave as soon as we save them! What’s there to be afraid of!" Huo Yinqi said coldly. Suddenly appearing in front of Lin Xin, she blocked the other man.

"A giant eagle monster can fly hundreds of miles with a single flap of its wings. Leave? How can we possibly escape!" the man with the Luo surname shouted.

"There’s a Sect nearby; we’ll surely make it back first. I’ve already sent a Message Talisman to my elders," Huo Yinqi said, her gaze at the Luo surnamed man filled with a trace of disdain.

Just then, Lin Xin had already gathered the Formation Patterns and pressed down towards the character 大 written on Wuchen Mountain.

Without turning his head, he heard a sharp sound from behind. The Luo surnamed man had actually started fighting Huo Yinqi.

"Do you even know what you’re doing? You’re going to get us all killed!" The man’s desperate voice quickly reached from behind.

Crack...

The last layer of Formation Patterns cracked with fine lines.

Then suddenly, they shattered completely with a loud crash.

Howl!!!

Almost simultaneously, a monstrous beast’s roar that resembled a bull’s bellow erupted from a distant mountain peak.

The corridor blurred for a moment, revealing a group of small figures lying on the floor, covered in blood.

Six had entered, but only four emerged. Missing was the tall woman from the Wanhua Sect and Qin Ye from Duling Sect. The others were wounded as well, riddled with tiny cuts as if slashed by sharp blades to bleed them out.

"Aunt Huo!...."

"Master Red!"

A flurry of joy erupted among them as they hurriedly scrambled to reach their respective Guardians.

Ma Jingxuan was covered in blood, her face bearing several cuts, barely clinging to life; the other two had fewer wounds but at least a dozen each.

After a quick assessment of Ma Jingxuan’s injuries, Lin Xin fed her a healing and blood-stopping pill, and exchanged a look with Huo Yinqi.

"We need to leave here as quickly as possible."

"Yes. Forget the stuff, let’s go now!"

Before their words even faded, they heard a violent flapping of wings from the sky.

Two enormous shadows rapidly approached from afar.

"It’s over! It’s over, the protectors of Wuchen Mountain!" the Luo surnamed man cried out in despair, stepping backward.

Huo Yinqi turned, looked up into the sky.

Above the courtyard, two towering bird-headed men with human bodies, each with wings on their back, hovered in mid-air, their wings beating up and down.

Each of the bird-headed men held a fierce black trident in hand and was dressed in a set of exquisite black scale armor.

"Quite bold." The larger bird-headed man sneered. "With only a few little ones, they dared to meddle with the seals we’ve set."

"One for each of us?" Lin Xin whispered to Huo Yinqi.

The latter nodded slightly.

They separated, standing in front of the small crowd, facing the two bird-headed men.

Lin Xin’s expression turned solemn, knowing he had to be fully alert when facing unknown and tricky Divine Skills.

There have even been cases in history of Nascent Soul Daoist Masters falling to Golden Core Divine Skills. Divine Skills were profoundly unpredictable and, under certain conditions, frighteningly powerful. One could not afford to be careless.

The bird-headed man facing Lin Xin seemed to sense something amiss as if this human and the other one were entirely different - slightly odd.

Its expression grew more somber.

The two stood there, one above the other, in a distant standoff.

Lin Xin’s hand gently rested on the Red Flower Sword, his body tensing.

By then, the little ones took the chance to escape as well; Ma Jingxuan wanted to stay but was dragged away by the other two.

Soon, only the two humans and two beasts remained, locked in a standoff.

"Bone-piercing Wind!"

All of a sudden, the bird-headed man facing Lin Xin lifted his black trident, rapidly stirring it to whip up a black whirlwind that kept spinning around.

The black wind grew bigger and stronger, centered around the bird-headed man, picking up speed rapidly.

Lin Xin’s expression was solemn, unsure of the effect of the opponent’s divine skill.

Soon, the black tornado had expanded to over ten meters in range.

"Hahahaha! Mere humans, failing to stop me at the beginning was your biggest mistake! Behold my Black Wind Tornado!!" The eagle-headed person laughed wildly, raising the black spear and smashing it downwards towards Lin Xin with ferocity.

The black tornado, over ten meters in diameter, fell towards the courtyard like a colossal pillar.

"Heart Eye Sword Path."

Lin Xin’s eyes focused sharply, and the Red Flower Sword suddenly unsheathed.

Swish!!!

A dazzling red light suddenly flared, streaking through the black wind in a flash, drawing a crescent-like arc.

The stunning red color lasted for a few seconds before slowly fading away.

The black wind collapsed with a loud bang, revealing the eagle-headed person’s stiff expression.

He gazed down at Lin Xin below in shock, his mouth open as if wanting to say something, but no words could come out.

Hisss... His body split into two from the waist, sliding down from the air and crashing to the ground.

The other eagle-headed person was stunned.

Huo Yinqi was stunned.

The Luo surname man was even more dumbfounded.

Lin Xin himself was also taken aback. After a long moment, he turned his head to look at the Luo surname man with a helpless expression.

"This is what you called ’very strong’?"

The man stared at him blankly, unable to say a word.

Wuchen Mountain.

Atop the snow-white mountain peak, there was a massive cave, thirty meters in diameter. Inside the cave, there was nothing but a bird’s nest equally large, over twenty meters in diameter.

The bird’s nest was made up of countless dried yellow, sturdy branches and twigs, with a thick layer of soft downy grass on top.

A massive bird with brown-yellow plumage laid half-asleep in the nest, its eyes slightly opening and closing.

The giant bird resembled an enlarged sparrow, its brown-yellow feathers appearing soft, but the mere touch of the edge of the feathers against the branches of the nest would sever them as if they were blades.

"Report!! Your Majesty!"

Suddenly, a palm-sized blue bird shot into the cave like an arrow, hovering in front of the giant bird and announcing loudly.

"Your Majesty! The left and right protectors have been killed by someone!!"

"Impossible!" The giant bird lazily rolled over, showing its belly to the sky, barely opening its eyes.

"They each possessed divine skills, even high-ranking experts nearby would easily retreat from them. And those who can’t handle them would spare them in respect for me."

"This is from the Green Eagle King himself, he saw with his own eyes how the left and right protectors were killed by a few humans who came to the Demon God Temple... The humans... killed them in one hit." The little blue bird said in a shrill voice.

"Humans?" The giant bird finally opened its eyes fully.

Its eyes were as big as buckets, like flawless yellow gems, reflecting the figure of the blue bird clearly.

"An incident at the Demon God Temple’s Yin Spring?"

"It’s unclear, but the formation has been broken."

"Which Sect’s disciples are they?"

"It seems the disciples of a few small Sects nearby came to deal with a minor demon. Accidentally, they broke the protectors’ formation, alerting them and leading to a conflict..."

"The small Sects nearby, eh? That’s easier to deal with. The formations I’ve laid around also haven’t sensed any stronger disturbances."

The giant bird pondered for a moment, flexing its wings before slowly rising from the nest.

It stood on two slender yellow-clawed feet, a stark contrast to its massive body, yet capable of supporting a body several times larger, creating an extremely uncoordinated look.

"Your Majesty, are you going to take action personally?" At the edge of the nest, another black eagle with glossy feathers flew over. Seeing the giant bird moving, it was suddenly shocked.

"Have half stay to guard our home, and the rest will follow me to capture those humans! Use them as nourishment for the left and right protectors to be reborn!" The giant bird said lazily.

"Yes!"

The yellow giant bird yawned, causing a gust of wind to be sucked in, causing a tremor around it. The blue bird in mid-air nearly got sucked in too, flying away in a fluster.

Soon, amidst the light white mist surrounding Wuchen Mountain, a black cloud slowly rose. This cloud was composed of tens of thousands of birds.

Among them, a giant yellow bird flew in the midst, leading all the birds away into the distance.

Demon God Temple

By the backyard well, Huo Yinqi, Lin Xin, and the Duling Sect man with the surname Luo stood together.

The bodies of the two eagle-headed people lay not far in front, each cleaved in half by a sword, but without a drop of blood spilled, as though they were simply wooden puppets.

"This is the Soul Hosting Technique! They’re not dead! Only their physical bodies have been slashed! We must leave immediately! Otherwise, once the powers from Wuchen Mountain arrive, no one will be able to escape!" Huo Yinqi said solemnly.

"That’s right, we must leave quickly! Otherwise, it’ll be too late if we don’t move now!" The Luo surname man hurriedly echoed, but his glances towards Lin Xin were like seeing a ghost.

One sword to kill each of the two protectors of Wuchen Mountain as if slaughtering chickens; such strength couldn’t possibly belong to just any Sword Heart Level, but at least Sword Intent Level.

"I have to save my niece first; there are still people in the formation inside!" Huo Yinqi suddenly remembered there were still two people in the formation who hadn’t come out yet.

The three of them rushed into the corridors and found Qin Ye and the Wanhua Sect girl unconscious on the ground. (To be continued.
