Chapter 106: Chapter 105 Good Affinity Part 1

Lin Xin traveled far and wide in search of the best doctors, but all were powerless to help.

He returned home and sought help from his senior brother at the Elixir Hall, who also shook his head.

"Her Innate Qi and Blood foundation has been completely exhausted, a verdict that was determined when she first used the secret technique. Has she never told you?" The senior brother, considering Ji Lu’s feelings, gave Lin Xin a few more words of advice.

"She knew about it all along?" Lin Xin was startled.

"Yes, this is not an illness, but simply the exhaustion of her lifespan. If she hadn’t given birth, she might have lived a few more years, but after childbirth..." The senior brother shook his head.

"There’s no other way at all?"

Lin Xin stood in the backyard garden, earnestly looking at the senior brother from the Qi Huang faction, "If there’s anything you need help with, I, Lin Xin, will definitely help you with all my strength." His resolute eyes were fixed on the other person.

"This is not about... not wanting to help..." The senior brother said helplessly, "This is beyond redemption. Even if the Hall Master himself were to come... I’m afraid there would be no way..."

Lin Xin fell silent for a moment, taking a deep breath.

"Then may I ask senior brother, is there anything in this world that could save Lingling’s life?"

The other person looked at him and, in the end, could only shake his head regretfully.

Both fell silent for a moment.

Finally, not speaking further, Lin Xin bowed his hands after a long while.

"Thank you, senior brother... for coming from thousands of miles away to help... The Luminous Talisman Stone prepared as your payment is ready..."

"Ah... I bid farewell." The senior brother from Qi Huang was also helpless, "I cannot accept the payment for this time, as I have been unable to help. Perhaps you can look for other methods, there may still be remedies yet to be found..."

He patted Lin Xin’s shoulder and left with the servants’ guidance.

Lin Xin stood in the courtyard dazed for a long while, his thoughts in turmoil, gazing at the small fish in the pond. It took him quite some time to slowly calm down.

He then turned and entered the bedroom.

He immediately saw Xiao Lingling lying on the bed, cuddling the newborn baby.

Zhao Yu Niang, the mother, was personally sitting by the bed, taking care of the baby and talking to Lingling.

Xiao Lingling was dressed in plain white brocade, her complexion as pale as her garment, devoid of any color, her face emaciated, her eyes lifeless, clearly showing severe depletion of her Essence Qi.

"Lingling..." Lin Xin sat down by the bed.

"You two have a talk, I’ll take the baby out for a walk." Seeing Lin Xin’s expression, Zhao Yu Niang knew there was no hope. She sighed in her heart, picked up the baby, and left the room, closing the door behind her.

Lin Xin grabbed Xiao Lingling’s hand, holding it tightly.

"Xin Ge..." Xiao Lingling looked at Lin Xin tenderly, "It’s okay... It’s okay... Don’t be sad."

She reached out to smooth Lin Xin’s furrowed brow.

"I’m not sad..." Lin Xin forced a slight smile, "Senior brother said there are still ways, so you just focus on recuperating. He has gone back to consult with the elders, there will be a way. We can still live well together, watching Zhen’er grow up..."

"Villa Master!"

Suddenly, a knock came from outside the door.

It was Gongsun Li’s voice.

"Villa Master! A strange man has arrived outside! He says he’s the elusive stranger from Yin Mountain Lake!"

Lin Xin was taken aback.

"Lingling, I’ll go take a look and be right back."

"Okay, go... " Xiao Lingling smiled slightly, "I’ll sleep for a bit."

"Okay."

Lin Xin got up, left the room, and saw Gongsun Li standing outside with a look of happiness, his granddaughter timidly hiding behind him looking at himself.

"The stranger from Yin Mountain Lake? Which senior is he? What does he want?"

Lin Xin asked, puzzled.

"Villa Master..." Gongsun Li hesitated to speak, "You’ll know when you see him, I always feel that man is odd..."

Lin Xin pondered for a moment, the molten iron from the Red Flower Sword was a gift from that person, this time he had taken the initiative to come, there must be an important matter.

"Come with me to have a look."

"Yes."

The two left the backstage and swiftly headed to the manor’s main hall, where in the huge hall, a strange person, covered head to toe in white bandages, was standing in the center.

The individual was clothed in coarse gray fabric, with long sleeves and robes, and his head was also fully wrapped in bandages, leaving only a pair of bright black eyes visible.

Several experts from the manor, including Huang Puyang and Sanyuan Zen Master, were also there, courteously receiving the guest.

Lin Xin had yet to show his face when the stranger, as if anticipating it, turned to look in his direction.

"Master Lin, may you be in good health." His voice was very old, like that of an octogenarian or nonagenarian at the twilight of his years.

"Senior’s presence is an honor. My failure to greet you at a distance was a breach of manners, for which I hope to be forgiven," Lin Xin said as he approached with a salute.

Now at the Sixth Layer of Innate level, he looked closely but still couldn’t discern the true depth of the stranger’s cultivation.

"Master Lin need not be so polite." The stranger’s tone was calm, "I have come this time to forge a good karma with the Master of the Villa."

"I have yet to repay senior for the matter of the molten iron. If there’s anything you require, just say the word," Lin Xin also came with polite words readily.

The stranger gave a slight smile.

"Hearing that the lady of Spirit Heart Villa is gravely ill, I have come especially to prolong her life."

Upon hearing this, Lin Xin felt a glimmer of hope rise in his heart again.

"Does senior know of my wife’s condition?"

"Of course, Innate Qi and Blood foundation overdrawn, ordinary medical skills are utterly useless; otherwise, why would it fall to me to build this connection?" The stranger said with ease.

Lin Xin was immediately overjoyed. After a moment’s thought, deciding to treat a dead horse as if it were alive, he hurriedly led the stranger to the backyard, followed closely by the others.

Upon reaching the inner courtyard, the mystical being did not enter the room; instead, he just stood outside the yard.

"Villa Master, if this life extension succeeds, I hope you can agree to a promise," he said.

"Please speak freely, senior!" Lin Xin replied seriously.

The mystical being smiled slightly.

"Should someone one day come to the manor holding this Purple Gold Lock, I hope you will take them in."

With a flip of his hand, he produced a small purple-gold lock, its design complicated and exquisite, appearing as if crafted by divine hands. It was covered in a dense array of strange symbols and patterns, resembling fierce creatures yet not showing a complete shape.

Lin Xin took the lock.

"I shall not let you down, senior."

The mystical being laughed heartily and casually walked to the center of the courtyard. With a stomp of his foot, he made a small pit in the ground, shattering the flagstones and revealing the dark soil underneath.

He then waved his sleeve.

A dark object suddenly fell from it, landing in the soil.

To everyone’s surprise, the dark object -- which turned out to be an unidentified black seed -- began to grow upon touching the dirt.

The seed cracked open, revealing a tender green sapling with only three leaves and a slender root. The leaves slowly unfurled, and as the root dug into the soil, the plant grew taller and thicker.

It quickly reached half a person’s height before slowly coming to a halt.

"Inherent to heaven and earth is the Spirit Root; when Yin rises, and Yang diminishes, that is man," the mystical being whispered softly before pointing and exclaiming, "Grow! Grow! Grow!!"

Following his three commands,

The sapling suddenly resumed its rapid growth, quickly surpassing the height of a person. The stalk turned into a trunk; the trunk became thicker and older until it reached over five meters tall.

Initially, the sapling had but a few leaves. However, soon along the joints of the branches, lots of green buds appeared. The buds split open, new tender twigs arched out, thickened, and produced more buds.

In just a brief moment, before the eyes of the onlookers, a five-meter-tall, lush green tree stood where none had been before.

"This... this is...." Sanyuan Zen Master and others were so astonished they were rendered speechless, while the surrounding servants and maids were also agape with shock.

Lin Xin was internally stunned but managed to maintain his composure.

"Senior... what is this tree?"

"It is your wife," the mystical being said with a smile. "She was supposed to pass in her sleep the night after tomorrow. However, this tree will ensure twenty more years of life for her."

"Twenty years!" Lin Xin was half-skeptical, half-believing.

"The tree is the person, the person is the tree! Remember, as long as she does not leave this courtyard, she will be unharmed," the mystical being cautioned. "When the person dies, the tree dies; when the tree perishes, the person perishes. Remember... remember...."

As his voice echoed, Lin Xin’s vision blurred for a moment, and in the blink of an eye, the mystical being had disappeared, leaving nothing but empty space before him.

"Senior!?" His heart leaped, recognizing that such skill was far beyond his comprehension.

The others were also taken aback as the living, breathing man had vanished before their eyes. A chorus of awe and admiration immediately arose.

"He was a living immortal!"

"In broad daylight, gone just like that! Like a deity from the tales!"

"Even our Villa Master who is from the Taoist Sect looks utterly astounded. If he’s shocked... it must have been a deity."

"This is truly an eye-opener..."

The crowd murmured in amazement.

However, Lin Xin had come back to his senses, when he suddenly heard a creak.

Turning his head, he saw Xiao Lingling slowly pushing the door open, smiling gently at him.

"Husband."

"Lingling!" Lin Xin hurriedly approached and embraced her tender body. "You... you can get out of bed?!"

He exclaimed in surprise.

"Suddenly, I felt as if my body had been replaced with someone else’s. I felt so energetic that I just had to get up and walk around," Xiao Lingling’s complexion looked much healthier, with a hint of rosiness on her cheeks.

"Could it be that what the senior said is true?" Lin Xin marveled at the thought.

Xiao Lingling had also noticed the large tree in the courtyard. She walked over and gently touched the bark.

"This tree... wasn’t here before, right?"

Just as Lin Xin was about to speak, a small bird flew overhead and landed in the tree, snapping off a sapling with a flap of its wings.

Oh no.

Xiao Lingling suddenly let out a soft cry as well.

"Lingling?" Lin Xin quickly went to support her.

But saw that there was a fresh split in the nail of her left ring finger.

"It hurts a bit..." Xiao Lingling murmured softly.

Lin Xin’s heart made the connection immediately.

He gestured toward the leaves of the great tree and flicked, sending out a burst of Vigor Qi that scared the bird away but also knocked down a tender leaf.

As expected, Xiao Lingling cried out in pain again.

"Someone!" Lin Xin immediately commanded, "Protect this tree completely, do not allow any person, bird, or living thing to come close!"

Realization dawned on the others, and they quickly mobilized to secure the area, with Sanyuan Zen Master and Gongsun Li lending their help as well.

After taking care of Xiao Lingling’s situation, Lin Xin spent a little more time with her before going to see his mother and the children, telling them about the occurrence.

Lin Zhiwen and Zhao Yu Niang were half-skeptical themselves, but because their daughter-in-law’s life was at stake, they firmly promised to carefully watch over the tree and agreed to inform the rest of the clan.

From that day forward, Xiao Lingling’s health improved day by day, and she gradually recovered. However, she could not at all leave that small courtyard. The moment she did, she would immediately feel dizzy and faint, slipping into a severely ill state.

This affair was sealed within Spirit Heart Villa by Lin Xin and never spread outside. Nevertheless, close friends such as Huang Puyang and Kong Yuhui were aware of some details and marveled at them, proclaiming that Lin Xi had encountered a noble person. (To be continued.
