Chapter 100: Chapter 99: Summoning - Part 1

Several days later...

Outside Lin Family Manor, deep within the Jade Bamboo Sea.

A large pit had been dug in the bamboo forest, with many masters of the manor standing guard far around it.

Taoist Lu Suo led people to guard the distance, while Sanyuan Zen Master followed Lin Xin, standing in front of the deep pit, quietly looking down at the various sacrifices that were continuously struggling.

Three oxen, ten stags, two horses, one white ape, and more than a dozen huge wolves, as well as a black python as thick as a forearm.

"Everything here has been fully prepared. Does the Villa Master have any further instructions?" Sanyuan Zen Master respectfully looked at Lin Xin, who was a step in front of him.

"There’s no need for you all anymore, I can handle it alone. Take everyone far away, enclose the surroundings with black cloth, and unless I call you, no matter what happens or what sounds emerge, do not come close, or it might be dangerous."

Lin Xin spoke indifferently.

"Yes."

Sanyuan Zen Master did not ask what exactly Lin Xin was planning to do. He simply, obediently took the high experts who had just carried the sacrifices and moved farther away.

A region with an area of several tens of square meters was promptly enclosed with black cloth as a curtain wall.

Lin Xin stood alone at the center, holding the Red Flower Sword in his hand, with the blade slowly drawing from the sheath.

Hiss...

The black-and-red blade was devoid of any Formation Patterns.

Lin Xin turned around and walked to a set-up table at the back, where materials and blood ink that the Yellow Shirt Sect had sent a few days earlier, were placed.

After handling everything personally, Lin Xin had prepared all the work required for inscribing the runes; all was set on the table in front of him.

"I successfully practiced the formation last night. There shouldn’t be any problems. What needs attention is the range of the formation covering the sacrifices after the Sacrificial Fire is activated..."

He reached out, picked up the large black Inscription Brush; he had specifically purchased it at a high price from the market of the sect. If it weren’t for some missions where he had killed and robbed some Jade Tokens and Jade Money, he would have probably needed to borrow money from Kong Yuhui and the others.

The Inscription Brush looked like a large brush with a very thick and long handle, except the black bristles weren’t made from animal hair but metal wires.

Picking up the brush, he dipped it into the specially made ink.

Lin Xin placed the Red Flower Sword on the table and began to gently draw.

A symbol resembling a vortex, containing many twisted symbols similar to human faces, slowly emerged under his brush.

Lin Xin’s hand moved with unsettling precision. Contrasting this, not a single drop of sweat appeared on his forehead, as if drawing symbols were as easy as eating and drinking.

Nail-sized runes slowly began to appear on the less than palm-wide sword blade, with the quantity of runes increasing.

As time passed, Lin Xin’s complexion finally started to show some changes; he appeared slightly pale as if he had expended too much energy.

"Huff...," after drawing all the runes on the front side of the blade in one breath, Lin Xin finally paused. Picking up the Red Flower Sword, he saw that the front side of the blade was densely covered with hundreds of formations, looking like hundreds of bizarre human faces.

"To make the ink penetrate into the inner layers of the metal, the consumption of Inner Strength is still quite large..." Lin Xin sighed. He glanced at the sky, sat down to slowly regulate his Inner Qi, and took a Qi Transforming Elixir.

The formation must be drawn in one go; otherwise, the longer it is not activated, the more negatively it impacts the material of the Red Flower Sword. With so many formations concentrated on a general blade, if delayed even a little, Lin Xin feared the Red Flower Sword might just explode.

Just like those practice formations on white paper before.

After rest, he continued drawing on the back side.

Approximately an hour later.

He put down the inscription brush contentedly and raised the blade to look at both sides; the formations were exactly two hundred and twenty-two in total.

Not daring any delay, without any testing—since he had the skill assurance of a hundred percent success rate—Lin Xin didn’t need to test whether there were any defective runes on the blade, and just like that, he swiftly walked to the edge of the deep pit.

Looking down at the densely packed various sacrifices.

"As long as the sacrifices aren’t live or dead humans, the creatures summoned shouldn’t be the most ferocious kinds; the number of sacrifices can also affect the quality and tendencies of the creatures summoned from the Outer Regions. By sacrificing these living beings, the ferocity of the summoned creatures might exist, but shouldn’t be too extreme," he thought.

Whoosh!

He suddenly raised the Red Flower Sword, hovering it over the deep pit.

Inner Qi instantly poured into the over two hundred formation runes on the blade.

Hum...

The blade suddenly vibrated, and numerous formation runes one by one activated by the Inner Qi, each bursting forth with red light.

Hisss!

In an instant, countless red threads starkly illuminated from the blade, like living creatures, a vast number of red threads slowly flew out from the blade, fluttering and congregating in the air above the pit, weaving together.

The red light reflected onto Lin Xin’s face, causing his eyes to squint slightly.

Above the deep pit, a large ball of red threads rapidly congregated into a giant sphere, the size of a human head, rolling as if it were some kind of creature, gradually emitting a rhythmic pulsation like breathing.

"Abide by the contract, partake in the sacrifice, the below is the sacrificial text..." Lin Xin murmured in an eerie tongue, reciting a script that complemented his formation.

A voice, like a whisper in a dream, emanated from his lips.

As the voice intoned,

The red sphere above the pit quickly solidified.

Crack!

Suddenly, there was a loud burst, and the sphere explosively opened, revealing a blood-red vortex inside, similar to a portal.

A blood-red vortex over a meter wide hovered in front of Lin Xin, swirling rapidly with a vast amount of blood-colored liquid, at the center of which was an unfathomably dark tunnel cave.

Lin Xin only glanced at the cave for a moment before feeling dizzy and chose not to look any longer.

The vortex shed blood light, shining onto the multitude of creatures in the deep pit. Immediately, all the sacrificial creatures stopped struggling, began to slowly melt into rising streams of blood, and merged into the oval vortex.

The blood continued to rise up for several minutes.

Lin Xin held up his longsword, its blade growing increasingly bright with blood-colored formation patterns, and the red light grew more piercing as the vortex absorbed the sacrifices.

He continuously muttered ritual verses that he did not fully understand the meaning of.

The wind picked up...

"It’s starting..." Lin Xin tensed, hurriedly gathered his Inner Qi, leaving only one formation still active.

This was the plan he had prepared earlier, to lure a sufficient number of creatures from the Outer Regions with numerous formations, then suddenly stop the other formations, using just one. Finally, with the offering presented, he would win the favor of the most powerful creature attracted by the numerous formations. It would naturally suppress the other creatures and become his contracted entity.

No sooner had he gathered the inner strength of the formations than Lin Xin suddenly felt an intense surge of evil and angry gazes from the vortex in front of him, fixedly staring at him.

Sizzle...

The blood-red vortex began to distort violently, with many waves surging as if something was trying to break out from within.

Lin Xin felt the Red Flower Sword in his hand begin to tremble violently.

In an instant, he felt three formidable gazes shoot out from the vortex and land on him.

"There are actually three creatures of equal strength!?" His heart stirred, but he did not panic. Instead, he steadied his mind and carefully sensed the nature of these three presences.

Following an inexplicable psychic connection, he looked at the first creature within the vortex.

A strange figure, completely wrapped in black tattered bandages, looked at him through the vortex with a large red eye. Its body was also emitting wisps of black poisonous smoke. At its feet, two bizarre lion-like creatures crouched.

The second was a white elephant with three trunks, but unlike regular elephants, its mouth was filled with the ferocious fangs of a carnivore, and there were many chunks of uncleaned minced meat and blood.

The third was a shaky little red flower, only about the size of a palm. Around its root, no other plants grew within a few dozen meters, surrounded by many small animal carcasses.

Under the gaze of three psychic presences, Lin Xin gently flipped the blade of his sword.

"The first one looks too fierce. I might not be able to control it, and it doesn’t fit the image of a Righteous Path Cultivator either. The same goes for the second, too fierce-looking. Only the third one suits the name of my Red Flower Sword..."

Lin Xin immediately cut off contact with the other two and looked towards the third red flower.

"Also a Red Flower, were you also attracted by the name of my Talisman Sword?"

He asked with a smile.

Having made his decision.

Hisss!

From the center of the vortex, a deep and endless black hole suddenly shot out a red light that landed on Lin Xin’s sword.

The vortex also naturally dissipated and disappeared.

Everything quickly returned to normal.

The red light disappeared, the sacrifices disappeared, and the vortex disappeared.

Only Lin Xin remained, standing by the edge of the pit, holding up his sword and watching the red formation patterns slowly twist and merge on the blade.

After a long while, the red formation patterns on the blade slowly stopped, and all over two hundred Sacrificial Fire Formations were finally connected together.

He put away the Red Flower Sword, Lin Xin gently bit the tip of his tongue, and sprayed a mouthful of blood onto the blade.

He extended his index finger, circulated his Inner Strength, and slowly began inscribing the formation patterns on the blade, moving quickly along the patterns.

Before long, he had traced over all the formation patterns on the blade.

Soon, as his index finger moved, the blood on the blade was quickly absorbed by the patterns.

"The first layer of Blood Yuan Decision, Sacrificial Refinement was successful..." Lin Xin nodded slightly, bit his tongue again, sprayed out a mouthful of essential blood, and repeated the action.

The second tracing of the patterns was quickly successful, and his complexion also turned slightly paler.

The third time, his movement of tracing the patterns began to slow, and the Inner Strength on his fingertip gradually increased.

It took a good while before he completed the third Sacrificial Refinement.

"That’s enough... With my current level of Inner Qi in the Blood Yuan Decision, I should be able to complete the third layer of Sacrificial Refinement. The Red Flower Sword is a lot stronger than the Spiritual Light Shield, but at this level, I should be able to control it without any problems."

Returning to the side of the desk, Lin Xin took another Qi Transforming Elixir and rested for a moment. He had used two elixirs awarded from the competition in one go.

After a brief rest, Lin Xin lifted the Red Flower Sword.

"Now that the contract is established, there are no signs of backlash, and it looks like that red flower isn’t a fierce creature. Next, as long as I know its name, I can summon and work with it..."

As recorded in the Sacrificial Fire.

He slowly raised the sword blade pointing forward.

"Tell me your name..."

He asked in a low voice in the translated Goblin language. This was one of the few Goblin phrases he had prepared in advance, having previously asked Dongyue.

Suddenly, a psychic connection feedback flowed into his mind.

"Man-Eating Flower... Yin Mantuo..."(To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please come to Qidian (qidian.com) to cast your recommendation votes and monthly votes. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to continue reading.)
