Bai Yiran looked at the time—it was almost the time she had agreed to meet Leng Yichen. Wang Hai had already parked the car at the door, and Bai Yiran wondered whether she should tidy up a bit. But looking at the clothes she had brought, there really wasn’t anything presentable, they were all pretty much the same as the one she was wearing. Feeling a bit discouraged, she simply put on a trench coat, grabbed her bag, and went out.

Wang Hai parked the car at the entrance of Huamei International, and Leng Yichen asked Bai Yiran to wait for him downstairs. Bai Yiran had passed by Huamei International countless times on the bus, but it was the first time she sat in a car parked at its entrance. Through the car window, Bai Yiran looked up at the magnificent building; it all belonged to Leng Yichen. It was at this moment that Bai Yiran truly realized the gap between herself and Leng Yichen—him standing above and her below, with the towering building as the space that separated them.

So, she was determined to go out and work, to shorten this distance.

Not long after, Leng Yichen came downstairs. Although Bai Yiran was outside, she could clearly see that wherever Leng Yichen went inside, people would bow and greet him. And Leng Yichen, like a king, showed no regard to those tiny people.

Maybe she herself was no better than those small figures, Bai Yiran categorized herself this way. But still, she couldn’t understand why the king would marry someone like her who offered him no help at all. Was it really just because of that one night?

Leng Yichen got into the car, and the aura of a king had not yet fully dissipated, making Bai Yiran feel a bit uneasy sitting next to him.

Bai Yiran was taken aback, "What are we doing there?"

"Buying clothes."

"Buying clothes?" Bai Yiran thought Leng Yichen wanted to buy clothes. Wasn’t it strange? His clothes were all custom-made overseas. Would he really shop for clothes in a mall?

It was not until Leng Yichen led her towards the luxury women’s apparel section inside the mall that she realized he intended to buy clothes for her...

Leng Yichen, who would stand out anywhere, once again drew the attention of numerous ladies in the luxury store. However, he was so accustomed to such attention that he could now automatically ignore it.

His focus was on the women’s clothing, his long fingers brushing through the garments, occasionally picking one out and tossing it onto a nearby sofa.

Bai Yiran walked out in a new autumn-winter white dress and asked, "How does it look?"

Leng Yichen looked up and saw Bai Yiran in a white knitted, lace-trimmed short top and a long fishtail skirt, making her look indescribably charming. He directed the sales associate to a gray woolen coat, which the associate promptly helped Bai Yiran put on. They also assisted in pairing a new set of shoes for her.

Leng Yichen was satisfied with Bai Yiran’s outfit and then pointed to the pile of clothes on the sofa, saying to the sales associate, "Pack up the set she’s wearing and those on the sofa as well."

The sales associate excitedly began calculating the price and packaging the items, while Leng Yichen paid and left Wang Hai to load all the packaged clothes into the car.
