Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Dinner at Home

Bai Yiran really couldn’t stand being called "Madam." She always felt like it was a term for older people. Feeling a bit awkward, she looked at the serious-faced driver, "Just leave them here."

"Okay." The driver put down the luggage, "I’ll head back to the company first. Madam, you can call me if you need anything. The boss said I’m your personal driver from now on. My name is Wang Hai!"

"Oh, okay! Thank you!"

After Wang Hai saluted Leng Yichen, he left, and Bai Yiran let out a breath, turning to look at the big house, and somewhat dejectedly sat down on the sofa.

Sister Liu brought over a glass of lemon water to Bai Yiran, "Madam, have some water."

Uh...

"Sister Liu, could you not call me Madam, I’m not quite used to it..."

"Not call you Madam..." Sister Liu stared blankly at Bai Yiran, if not Madam, then what? Lady?

"Just call me Yiran, being called Madam all the time is really unbearable." Bai Yiran, puffing her cheeks, said to Sister Liu.

Sister Liu chuckled, looking at Bai Yiran with an added warmth in her eyes, "Won’t the Mister be upset if I call you that?"

"He won’t, it’s me who’s asking you to call me that!"

Seeing Bai Yiran’s expectant little eyes, Sister Liu finally nodded, "Okay, then I’ll call you Yiran from now on!"

"Mm!" Bai Yiran smiled sweetly.

Bai Yiran went to the kitchen and found that there seemed to be no signs of cooking, "Sister Liu, does no one cook in this house?"

Sister Liu nodded, "Yes, the Mister usually just has breakfast at home occasionally; he mostly has lunch and dinner outside for business, it’s rare for him to eat at home."

Looking at the well-equipped high-end kitchen being just a display, Bai Yiran couldn’t help but feel it was a waste, "That’s really a pity."

Sister Liu seemed to suddenly remember something, "Madam... uh... Yiran, are you having dinner at home tonight?"

Looking at the high-end kitchen, Bai Yiran’s hands were already itching to cook. Actually, Bai Yiran really liked exploring culinary arts. But in the past, Grandma’s house had limited equipment and budget, so it couldn’t fulfill her culinary dream.

"Sure, let’s eat at home then! Sister Liu, let’s cook together!" Bai Yiran’s eyes sparkled.

"What about Mister..."

"I’ll ask him!"

But before Bai Yiran could ask Leng Yichen whether he’d have dinner at home, Leng Yichen had already called.

Bai Yiran picked up the phone, "Hello, what’s up?"

"I’m coming home for dinner tonight."

Leng Yichen’s voice was deep and pleasant; it felt like an obvious statement, yet it carried a hint of expectation.

"Oh, good!" Bai Yiran laughed happily, "I was just talking with Sister Liu about how it’s a pity for such a nice kitchen at home to be a display, and we were planning to cook dinner together for you, just about to call you!"

"Alright, I’ll come home earlier."

"Mm! I’ll be waiting for you!"

After hanging up, Leng Yichen unknowingly had a warm smile on his face. Having someone waiting at home for you to eat dinner, turned out to feel so good. Maybe this marriage was the right decision after all.

Leng Yichen had just arrived home and was greeted by the aroma of food. He took off his coat and walked into the dining room to see the table already filled with dishes.

Bai Yiran came out from the kitchen holding a plate of fish-flavored shredded pork and saw Leng Yichen standing in front of the dining table. Bai Yiran placed the dish on the table, feeling a bit embarrassed, "Did I make too much..."
