After this pompous statement, the duke’s heir crossed his arms over his chest. I continued to remain completely perplexed.

No, it’s true that thanks to Yufil’s «performance» and his disguise, we miraculously managed to avoid mortal danger. But still... The guy definitely went a little further than saving our lives when he tricked the bandits into giving us all their possessions.

«Let’s at least get some rest and have a bite to eat,» I suggested. «We can’t keep going like this, can we?»

In fact, I really had no idea how much longer we would have to wander like this. So we really needed to take this opportunity to take a little breath.

And, apparently, Yufil’s stomach, which at that moment made a long rumbling sound, agreed with me. In the end, the guy succumbed to my persuasions and agreed.

«So be it...» he grumbled, «but we’re only going in there for a little while!»

In order not to attract too much attention to himself because of the form of the Dark Army, the guy threw on the cloak he was wearing before, just in case.

Yufil looked around with a displeased expression on his face as soon as we crossed the threshold of the establishment. The guy was extremely wary, but I, very tired and hungry, just didn’t pay attention to such little things.

The interior inside wasn’t too different from the one outside. After all, it was just an ordinary inn, designed primarily for commoners and other members of the lower class.

There were several customers sitting at the tables, who, noticing us, stared at us with obvious curiosity. But we didn’t pay any attention to it. Tired after a long journey, we chose a table by the window, where it was quiet and the least crowded.

The inn’s waitress, a plump, middle-aged woman, came up to us with a smile.

— What do you want, young people?

Since there wasn’t much choice on the menu, we decided to stick with two portions of grilled meat. As for the drinks, there were only two to choose from. Beer and apple cider. It so happened that we both chose apple cider.

Yufil treated beer with «contempt» because it was considered a drink for commoners and was never consumed by aristocrats. I, in turn, did not adhere to such prejudices. The reason was something else. I just wasn’t friends with alcohol, and the last case related to it, which eventually ended with my death, only confirmed this...

After taking our order, the waitress went into the kitchen, and we were finally able to relax.

«We’ll eat and leave right away,» Yufil said, still looking around intently. «Girl, you haven’t forgotten that we’re still in danger, have you?»

«Of course I know.»

Since the Empress’s mercenaries could still continue to chase us, we couldn’t stay in one place for long. Besides, it’s likely that in the near future, the Crown Princess will also come after my soul to avenge what happened... In other words, I definitely should have enjoyed this opportunity to breathe fresh air while I had it!

After some waiting, the waitress brought us our order. However, it was unexpectedly slightly different from what we had originally ordered. «That’s not it?» The woman asked in surprise.

— How the hell do they take orders in your establishment? Bring us what we ordered before! — the guy demanded.

At that moment, the woman absently looked at her notebook, where she had previously written down our order.

«Oh, yes,» she muttered after a while, «perhaps I might have confused your order with another customer.».

«Got it mixed up?» I asked again.

— You and this customer ordered at almost the same time, so I must have accidentally confused them.

Realizing her mistake, the waitress took the tray with the contents that she had brought us earlier and brought another one instead. I saw that the table of the customer to whom the waitress had mistakenly brought our order was very close. And at that moment, when he slightly pulled back his hood to start eating...

His head suddenly turned in my direction. At that moment, I was also looking directly at him.

Then there was absolute silence in the air.
