Chapter 69: Completion of the Wedding Ceremony

"What are you planning on doing?" Viola whispered in Evander’s ears. "We should be careful. The don is going to get mad at you again."

After sending Leander to the nuptial chambers, Peter called Evander to his office as if he was one of his lackeys. Evander told her that he was never scolded like that in his entire life.

Viola was angry at Peter for treating her eldest like this. He was treated as a Prince till then and because of the act of an abhorrent woman, her son had fallen from grace.

She never thought if her eldest son might be wrong for taking out his anger on their servants. What other purpose does their servants have other than to serve them? They served her dear son by death. And now her son has become calm and returned to his days of scheming.

Like always, she couldn’t understand what Evander plans by continuing the tradition that was abolished in the family.

"What’s the meeting here?" Barnabas peeked from behind the corner making Viola almost jump.

"What is he doing here?" she grumbled. She didn’t want to look at Barnabas’ face right now. She was told that Barnabas was the one who convinced Peter to announce Leander as the heir.

After she lost her dignity for him, he dared to stab her in the back. How can she bear it?

"Shh," Evander shushed his mom. "I asked him here."

Viola was more confused.

"Is he here yet?" Evander looked down the stairs.

"Soon..." Barnabas looked at the locked bedroom door in front of them. "Are you sure Leander would have finished?" he scoffed.

Evander joined Barnabas in sneering at his brother. "I don’t think he’d last for more than three minutes... that virgin with a peanut penis..."

Barnabas grunted and leaned on the wall. Without even saying anything, Viola sensed him mocking Evander for not even having a penis.

"He’s here," Evander rubbed his hands together and Viola’s eyes widened.

"Are you really going to do this?" She asked keeping a watchful eye on Barnabas.

Barnabas might instigate Evander to go thought this and make his value go lower further. Barnabas is a snake that cannot be trusted.

"Why not?" Barnabas shrugged. "Lucius was the one who abolished that tradition because he didn’t want everyone to know that~"

"Shut up!" Viola shut him up before he finished his sentence.

Thinking about that night made her blood boil even if almost four decades has passed. The humiliation she suffered in the hands of her husband... All her happiness that she got to marry the heir to the Kastello fortune vanished that night.

Barnabas chuckled. He then turned to Evander. "You think you can get Leander by this stupid trick?" he asked.

"You, nasty Barney..." Evander pointed his finger at Barnabas. His lips curled in disgust. "...don’t know anything about Leander."

"You do?" Barnabas was not offended by Evander’s insult. He scoffed. "Let’s see..."

"He’d be so high on his feel-good hormones that he will get mad and wake up the don..." Evander smirked.

"This..." Barnabas shook his head in disappointment. "This is the difference between you and him... He would never in a million years disturb the sleeping don for any reason. He would block the bullets with his body rather than move the don. He loves him that much."

Evander scoffed and didn’t answer him.

Love the don? Heh! As if! He’s just an actor!

"Why are you still here?" Viola asked. If he is only going to bash her son, why should she bear with him?

No one cares for her son. Everyone rushes to bash him. How is this fair?

"Mmm," Barnabas shrugged. "I want to watch what happens."

He really did.

The lithe old guy with a goatee got up the stairs with a bunch of keys. One of his round eyes was milky with cataracts. Viola approached him. Throughout her years living in the Rose Gardens, this guy has been in charge of the house. He could be called the don’s assistant—his shadow.

"What is it?" Paul Pisani asked.

Viola told him her plan. Evander stood by the side letting his mother talk. Paul looked at Evander and Barnabas standing to the side.

He raised his brows at Barnabas to ask if it would be okay to do what Viola asks of him. Barnabas nodded.

Leander woke up with a jerk. He didn’t know when he fell asleep. The first thing he noticed was that he was in the embrace of Viviana. Her fingers were tangled in his hair, and she was fast asleep.

She must have fell asleep while patting his head.

Her skin was glistening in the dim lighting. On her smooth skin, there were small patches of red, especially on her neck and chest area. Her messy braided hair was the only covering that covered her. As expected, it didn’t cover much.

His lips curved to a smile remembering how cute she was when they united. He kissed her lips. She must be tired after the long day. He got down from the bed and covered her with the duvet that was pushed down.

He went to the bathroom to take a shower. He didn’t want to smell when they woke up in the morning. He didn’t want her to use his smell as an excuse to refuse his advances in the morning.

But he turned back. Only her little face was peeking out from the duvet, and she looked so alluring.

Why should I wait for the morning?

-----

Viviana fell asleep while she was happy after a very long time. For the past few years, she either fell asleep filled with hate or cried herself to sleep. But today was different.

She couldn’t help but be happy thinking of everything that happened on the bed even when she was asleep.

Her deep sleep was disturbed by someone pulling off the duvet. Her lips curved unconsciously as she grabbed the duvet. "Whaaat..." Her husky voice would have mesmerized anyone, but it didn’t fetch her any reply.

She chuckled as she tried to hold on to the duvet. "Come on..."

But the force with which the duvet was pulled was strong and she opened her eyes sensing that something was wrong.

"Uh..."

Viviana was stunned to see Viola in front of her and gasped.

What is she doing here?

And by her foot, holding the corner of the duvet was a man she didn’t recognize.

She quickly grabbed the duvet and covered her chest. But the guy didn’t let go of the duvet.

"Who are you? Let go!" she shouted. "What do you want? Leave this room right now!"

She looked around the room for Leander, but he was not there. She heard the shower running in the bathroom. Evander was standing by the door with a smirk and behind him, she saw "that" guy.

What is going on here? Who opened the door?

Her heart skipped a beat.

Did Leander leave me on purpose?

"We are here to see to the completion of the marriage ceremony," Viola said.

Viviana blinked clutching the duvet hard.

What in the fresh hell is this?
