Chapter 380: The Letter

"Leo, are you okay?"

Viviana patted his cheek.

She was crying on his shoulder as he held her but she felt his hand trembling. She forgot to cry sensing his distress.

"I’m fine..." Leander wiped the corner of his eyes. "Melanie, do you believe me?"

"I do," Viviana held his hand. "I do believe you."

Who else is she going to believe other than her man? Other than...Leona...

She leaned on his chest and hugged him. His heart was beating erratically and she stayed silent until he calmed down. She kept on thinking about it but she didn’t know why he found the need to tell her that he was... Leona.

Seriously! How did that happen?

Viviana was filled with astonishment. She believed him and yet it was all too much for her to believe at the same time.

"Leo!" she looked at him. "The pillar... The stone, the wish..." She started blabbering.

Leander chuckled and kissed her forehead.

"My wish came true," he said.

Viviana was not satisfied with his answer. "What did you wish for?" she asked.

"I wished for you," he said hugging her. "I have you. I got my wish."

Viviana’s heart skipped a beat. Her tears dried and a shy smile bloomed on her face painting her cheeks red.

Leander kissed her. She looked happy and that’s all he wanted. He lied to her though. It was not a lie but more like him covering up some truths.

He wished for her, that’s true. But he wished for her to become his wife and the mother of his children. He wanted a boy who looked like him and a girl who looked like her.

He didn’t want to tell her what he wished for when he was a twelve-year-old. He did get almost everything he wished for. He has her as his wife and now he has a daughter who looks exactly like her. She even has her pretty eyes and gentle nature.

What more would he want?

"You’re going to tell me everything, Leo," Viviana played with his shirt.

It was too much for her to digest but is it that bad? Didn’t she think about Leona more when she was with him? Now she learned that she was not guilty of cheating on him.

She knew it in her soul that she was with Leona. Leona made such an impression on her, she could recognize her with just her eyes, and everything about her was changed.

"You’re smiling," Leander held her chin and made her look at him.

He thought that it would take at least a couple of days for her to get normal with him. He didn’t expect her to be smiling this soon. But this is good.

"Did you know...?" Viviana looked at him. The smile on her face had vanished. "I thought I was married to the boy who wore a lot of jewelry and chased Leona with a crab..."

She saw his face going pale. There was chill lingering in the cave but when she said that the temperature dropped even more. She hugged him.

"I am not him. I am~"

"I felt guilty for thinking about Leona when I should be thinking about that boy," Viviana interjected him.

Leander hugged her close. He said nothing and she didn’t say much either. She didn’t think whether it would hurt him or not but since he’s being honest with her, she wanted to be honest with him too.

"Who were you waiting for on that day on the rooftop, Melanie?" he asked.

His voice was so low, that she feared it might displace the rocks around them. It sounded powerful; he sounded angry. Knots formed in her stomach.

"I waited for that boy who liked to wear a lot of jewelry," Viviana told the truth. She sensed his fingers stiffening. He shouldn’t be expect anything more from her rationally. But she knew the man she fell in love with. He’s mighty possessive.

"I wanted to see if he remembered Leona. I didn’t even realize it at first. But when I saw your eyes, I saw Leona. And I..."

"You tried hard to negotiate with yourself. You had to convince yourself that I was not the one you knew and that was why you waited..."

"Did I wait?" she asked. She wondered how he managed to grab her before she fell to her death.

"I hope you waited," Leander hugged her. He still gets chill thinking of that day. She was so focused on dying. The hesitation was just for a moment when she looked into his eyes. After she convinced herself, she was determinant to die.

"I’m glad you caught me," she said. She didn’t know whether she told him this or not but it is something she was so grateful for. Times were tough for a little time, but it passed.

Now, she has a content and fulfilled life.

"Did you feel it inside you, Leo, just like I did?" she asked.

"I did. It’s funny, isn’t it? Fate split us apart and had to bring us together at such an odd place at an odd situation?"

Viviana’s heart skipped a beat seeing the handsome smile on his face. She held his chin. His beard pricked her palm and she kissed his cheek.

"And you spared my life and saved me," she said.

Leander hugged her.

"Before I forget..." he sat up straight and held her shoulder. "Get up. Get up, Lemon."

Viviana was confused and looked at him weirdly.

"Get up. One moment," he helped her up.

"What?" she asked patting her dress. It was wet and now there was dirt stuck everywhere. She needed a shower.

"See the little burrow there?" he pointed at the entrance of the tunnel.

Viviana squinted her eyes and looked there. "Is that... paper?" she asked.

"It’s a letter. Go, read it." Leander pushed her forward.

Viviana pressed her lips and walked forward.

"Go!" Leander said with excitement.

"What is it?" she asked as she picked it up. It looked like a bunch of old papers.

"A letter. Read it," he said.

"A letter?" Viviana let out a deep breath.

It appeared that her husband is planning on giving her a lot of surprises that day. She opened the letter to see what his excitement was about.
