Chapter 369: Domestic Life

Leander and Viviana returned to Lemon Heights with Ziya. Leander had an idea that she had filled up the house with plants, but he didn’t know that she had gone as far as to name the houseplants.

He tried talking to her about it but when she insisted, he left her to her devices. He could see that she found comfort in the presence of plants. The more he comforted her at night and at other times, he noticed the number of plants inside the house decreased.

He comforted her on the bed a lot. She needed it. He also told her about everything he did the past year he was gone. She was not very interested in it, but he could see her depending less and less on the meds as she found comfort in his presence.

He knew he needed to give her confidence. The more he talked to her, he realized that she was under the impression that he considered her as someone unreliable and that was the reason, he kept his plans from her. That was one of the reasons he told her everything that happened with him in her absence. He told her how much he missed her.

She was not very interested in the fine details. It was not because she didn’t care. It was because she trusted him that much. But she did tell him that she was happy that he talked to her about her life.

They started this new habit of talking to each other about each other’s day. He didn’t have much to say these days as he was mostly staying at home. Although it should have been boring, his days had become more eventful thanks to the little angel at home. He took her for walks and she loved it when he bought her ice cream without letting her mother know. The way her eyes would widen seeing ice cream was something he found to be the most amazing thing on earth, next to his wife, of course.

He might have little things to say to his wife, but his wife had a lot to say. At first, he listened to everything and when there was something that worried her, he tried to solve her issues. But then he learned that she didn’t want his solution, she just wanted someone to vent her frustrations to.

So, he stopped listening.

He would know when she was going to vent and he had developed this incredible talent of looking at her and agreeing with her without taking a single word she says to heart. Recently, he noticed her sneaking aside to talk to Angelina. After talking to her, she will explain this story that always has the same content as him.

Of course, he would pretend he keeps up with the story. Her story at times never makes sense. He felt like those women were needlessly complicating a simple issue. It could be solved by saying that Angelina was still in love with Leonardo.

For some reason, they do not want to do that and confuse that poor guy saying and doing opposite things. But she would always be happy after talking to Angelina. For him, that was enough.

This is his life for the past month for him. He’s mowing the lawn, walking the dogs, taking care of their daughter, and in his free time, he gives commands to his men. He really didn’t give up his gang. He needs to make sure his family is protected. If he didn’t have his gang, who is he going to trust with his family’s protection? Cops? Heh!

He mentioned still running the gang to his wife. She never talked about it again. He figured that she trusted him to do what was needed.

In a way, his life has turned more boring than it ever was. But he loved the stillness and peace it brought. Maybe this is what a normal domestic life is! He had something beautiful and he could sit and enjoy the beauty and peace. He considered himself lucky.

And today is a pretty important day. Today is the premier of Fatal Encounter.

Leander checked himself in the mirror. She is going to be surprised! He took a peek inside the closet. She was still at the vanity. She was wearing the dress he chose for her. He walked to her and stood behind the mirror.

Viviana was doing some touchups to her face but the moment she felt him, she stopped what she was doing and looked at him. That’s what he loved about her. Her life has changed drastically from the past but she never forgets to stop and look at him.

Looking at him, her eyes widened and her surprise widened his smile.

"Leo!" Viviana stood up and turned to look at him. "It’s... the shirt..." She couldn’t even speak out of shock.

How is he wearing the discount shirt I bought for him? And... is that the lemon charm? Does he still have it?

She walked to him and touched the little charm hanging on his tie pin. "Leo... You’ve kept it safe... I thought this shirt burned in the fire..." she caressed the shirt. She recognized it. It’s the same shirt she gave him. She got emotional seeing how much he valued her little gift.

"Of course, I kept them safe!" he kissed her head. "You bought them with your everything."

How can he be careless with the gift she bought him with every last cent she had? He would never.

"Are you okay wearing this shirt to the premiere?" Viviana asked. It’s just a cheap shirt.

"No one will know," Leander shrugged. His suit costs almost the same as her dress. No one would think that his shirt cost less than his handkerchief. Leander furrowed his brows noticing her finger.

"What is this?" Leander held her hand. "You’re still wearing your ring!"

She’s been wearing the wedding band/engagement ring all this time. They’ve talked about it. She should remove it so he can replace it.

Viviana didn’t have the heart to remove the ring. Wearing the ring has become her habit. "How can I throw away the ring you bought me?" she asked.

Leander poked her lips as she pouted. "You’ll have to remove your ring and change your name on the papers. You still are Minerva Kastello," he said.

He asked her to change it to Minerva Vitale before changing it to her new surname Michaels once they get married again.

"Come on, quick! Today is the day you’re introducing your new boyfriend to the world! I can’t wait to ride on your coattails!" Leander grinned ear to ear. He truly was too excited about it. They are like celebrities who go public with their relationship at a premiere.

Who would have thought?

"My coattails?" Viviana blushed. What is this guy saying? "You are richer than me!"

"Don’t rain on my parade," Leander held her hand.

"No!" Viviana instinctively tried to stop him from removing her ring.

"It’s okay, Melanie," Leander kissed her hand. "Give me the ring. I’ll make a new design using the same diamonds and gold. What do you say?" he asked.

If she treasured this ring this much, he could compromise.

"You will?" Viviana’s eyes widened. Although a ring is not the marriage, she had grown attached to the ring. She didn’t want to replace it. But what Leander says is a nice alternative considering their situation.

Leander removed the ring and kept it safe. Viviana looked at her empty finger and it felt weird without the ring.

But it is necessary.

"Let’s go, boyfriend," she smiled.

Here it is... A phrase I’ve never uttered in my life!

Boyfriend...

Her lips curved to a smile.
