Chapter 31: Viviana’s Pledge

Chapter 31: Viviana’s Pledge

Viviana didn’t know where she got the strength from. But the prospect that this vile man was in front of her and breathing the same air as her irked her. She pushed him away and walked to the tub.

It’s not like she didn’t want to use this chance to escape, she just couldn’t. It hurt down there.

Back when she was young and got her periods, she too like some girls, wanted to try a tampon. But she couldn’t get it in. It hurt a lot. Her mother insisted on visiting a gynecologist and had her checked out. Turned out she had something called a septate hymen. They said that a small surgery could correct it.

She opted to use pads for the rest of her life. She was that afraid of doctors and much more scared of surgeries.

This was one of the many reasons she never was interested in having sex or in guys. She knew it would hurt.

And this guy... this nasty, vile, heartless, diabolic devil, opted to do the surgery with his prickly claw! She couldn’t accept what happened to her.

Surgery... What he did was not surgery. He’s not a doctor. He didn’t intend to help her. He wanted to hurt her. What happened was an assault. Despicable beast!

She sat with her legs crossed on the platform where the jacuzzi was fitted. She was so emotional, she couldn’t even cry. Her hands shook and she lost all her senses. She almost fainted. But she held on. She didn’t want to give him the satisfaction.

He said he will make her suffer and he had touched her where it would hurt her the most as a woman. But what else could she expect from a Kastello other than wickedness? It would be surprising if a Kastello treated a woman as a human rather than as a piece of meat.

Ah!

She took in deep breaths to compose herself. She was shaking. Whatever happened, happened. She cannot expect civility when she is kept as a prisoner in a Kastello mansion.

The best she can do is endure until...

Viviana shook her head.

Endure? Why should she endure this kind of torture at the hands of a Kastello? If she endures, will he feel bad for her and let her go? NO! He never will pity her. He will only insult her and assault her more.

She cannot let this slide.

She turned to see Leander leave the bathroom. She heard him conversing with someone. She couldn’t stand up as her legs were still shaking.

Within some seconds the doctor came rushing in. Viviana glared at him, and he slowed his pace. He couldn’t meet her eyes. He looked guilty to even meet her eyes. She wondered if Leander told him what he did.

"Miss, do you..." his voice broke, and he cleared his throat. Viviana met his eyes to see how he usually handles these types of situations. Surely, she can’t be the first woman he sees in this state in this place.

"It’s... I..." Nathaniel stuttered. "If you want something for-for the-uh-bleeding- I’ll..."

Leander was standing by the door and observing Nathaniel. Viviana took a glance at Leander. He looked hunched as he was folding his arms around his chest. Their eyes met.

"He..." Viviana pointed at Leander and looked at Nathaniel. "With his finger, he..." her voice shook, and she gulped. She was not planning on showing her vulnerability. But this was something she never encountered before, and it was all so fresh making her emotional.

She cleared her throat. "I do need help with my bleeding. I want out of here," she told Nathaniel.

Nathaniel wetted his lips and took a step back. He looked at Leander. Viviana smiled bowing her head. Of course, the doctor employed by Leander will only be loyal to him. Why would he care about some helpless woman who is getting assaulted by his boss?

"I won’t need your help, Dr. Burke. I will be fine on my own," she said wryly and turned her face. She didn’t want to look at anyone. She didn’t even like to see the wavy distortion of a reflection of herself on the marble.

In a way, she brought it all on herself. Who asked her to wait to look at that devil’s face? Why did she care to know if he was Lucifer or Apollo?

She bowed her head and closed her eyes. She wanted to cry. But she didn’t want to cry in the presence of those two men. She heard Nathaniel leaving. She observed Leander’s movements. He was still standing by the door.

Gritting her teeth, she focused on her breathing. But she knew if she breathed, she would cry. So, she held her breath. Her chest hurt. She wanted to cry and shout in anger. But she didn’t want to lose herself in front of that devil. She didn’t want to give him the satisfaction that he had successfully broken her.

As she was trying to soothe the fury rising from the pit of her stomach trying to contain her sanity boiling like a kettle, he said the most dangerous sentence to utter to a woman who is not calm.

He said, "Calm down."

His voice was gentle, and his tone was soft. He could see that she was stressed. He felt sorry for her. He wanted to do something to calm her down.

One cannot blame Leander for he was inexperienced with women. But anyone who grew up in close proximity to a woman or had any sort of relationship with a woman will know that telling an angry woman to calm down works just about as well as baptizing a cat.

That two little words spoken in what she interpreted as a patronizing tone made Viviana snap. The fury she was trying to keep under the lid burst out. The lid blew away and the kettle exploded. So did her sanity.

"Why?" she shouted and walked to him. "Why should I calm down, Kastello? Should I sit and take everything you do to me? Should I spread my legs so you could stick a knife next time?"

Leander was startled to see her walking toward him. A thin line of blood rolled down her inner thighs and dripped on the white marble. But she didn’t seem to care. Her face had gone red and the nerves on her forehead were popping. He feared that her veins would burst if she shouted some more.

She stood in front of him and pushed his chest.

"Oh, you want to keep me here and make me suffer, right? Heh! I will stay here just like you wish..."

His eyes widened.

"To watch you burn, Kastello," she stood on her tiptoes and poked his chest with her finger. "But no... Not before you watch your family burn... You’ll watch them burn, just like I did!" she pressed her lips and poked his chest once more.

She was enraged. Her chest heaved and her breathing got heavy.

"I won’t die. I won’t leave. No, I won’t. Not until I watch everything of yours become ashes, Kastello. The family you hold dear to your heart and protect... They all will burn! You will burn last, Kastello. But you surely will burn. Only after I watch you screaming as you burn, Kastello... will I leave! This, I swear on the ashes of everyone you and your family had burnt all through the years as you expanded your empire of filth!"

She pushed him out and locked the bathroom door. She didn’t want to see his face. Still huffing in anger, she went back to sit on the jacuzzi. If he wants to break his bathroom door, he can do it.

She just wanted to be alone for a few minutes.
