Chapter 230: Escalating Troubles

Viviana came out of the closet hearing his roar. She didn’t know how he missed her when he came looking for her in the closet.

She thought his words would end her. It hurt her so much. Her husband told her that he was thinking about another woman when he was with her. Did he kiss her thinking of that woman too? In that case...

But when she thought about it, she was not very angry at him.

He is a Kastello. She cannot expect fidelity from him.

And who is she? She is not even in the top ten percent of beautiful women. She’s seen the top .1% of women flocking to his lap.

He is a red-blooded, top-tier man. She cannot blame him for wanting to taste the pudding just because he married a soggy muffin. What happened to them is not even a wedding in the technical sense. She is not his legal wife. They’ve not registered their marriage.

What can she expect from him?

She has only two choices. Leave him or turn a blind eye to his "shenanigans".

She will not be allowed to leave, and that leaves her with only one choice.

"You’re all fired!"

She heard him shout as she opened the bedroom door.

"Leave this house, immediately!!"

She saw Steve standing uncomfortably on the stairs. Even Steve looked confused by his boss’ dismissal of the staff. He probably was wondering if he is included in the "staff" of the house or not.

"Are you hungry?" she asked walking down the stairs. Everyone was gathered in the living room with faces pale as a sheet.

Leander’s clenched fists relaxed hearing her. He turned swiftly and walked to her with heavy steps.

"Where did you go?" he asked. His brows were slightly raised and his eyes were red.

"Bathroom," she said softly. She did not like looking at his face at all and she looked to the side.

"You weren’t in the bathroom," Leander said.

Viviana didn’t answer him. Gabriella was standing by the door. "Gabby," she smiled. "Want to join us for dinner?"

Gabriella looked at Leander. Viviana turned to the staff. She didn’t think that Leander would fire them all at once out of nowhere.

"What have you prepared for dinner?" she asked the chef.

"The butcher sent us some good filet mignon and I..."

"Great!" Viviana rubbed her hands together with a smile. "Please plate it and bring it to the table."

"Thank you, Signora!" The chef with a deep bow turned and ran to the kitchen. Mary and Martha followed him with relief on their face.

"Have you set the mouse traps in the garden? I don’t want to see my carrot patch disturbed tomorrow morning," Viviana asked the garden staff standing by the main door.

"On it, Signora." A bunch of staff ran out.

"Katerina, make sure the guest bedroom is cleaned when we have dinner," Viviana told Katerina and Katerina bowed and left with the cleaning staff.

"Come on, Gabby. Let’s eat," Viviana walked to Gabriella and held her hands.

"Leander," she smiled at Leander on the way and he followed her with a stiff face.

Gabriella bowed her head not knowing what to do. It was stressful as it was obvious that both of them are fighting. Maybe everyone was scared she didn’t see any staff near them; not even Katerina was there.

And Leander is sitting at the dining table as if nothing has happened. He did not look like he was angry with his wife.

Gabriella was impressed. She saw how Leander’s decision could be overridden by his wife. He fired all the staff. Even if he didn’t mean it and he said it out of anger, his words are final. That’s the rule.

But she came and sent them all back to work. No one questioned her and no one bothered to ask for Leander’s opinion. They all went back as if she was the highest authority in the house.

It’s not because she is Signora Kastello, that’s for sure. No woman from the mafia family holds that much authority even in household affairs. The men decide everything.

Leander was the one who gave her that power to veto his words when it suits her. Gabriella wondered if Viviana knew the power she holds.

Dinner went on pretty much in silence. Gabriella noticed that Leander’s eyes were on Viviana the whole time, while Viviana’s focus was on the plate although she was not eating much.

"You look good with the big belly. I don’t mind it. So, finish it all!" Leander said.

Gabriella’s mouth went open by Leander’s comment. He just called her fat!

Viviana responded by pushing the plate to the side. "I’m full," she stood up.

"Sit down and finish your plate!" Leander said gritting his teeth.

Viviana didn’t respond to him and walked up the stairs.

Gabriella gulped as she couldn’t handle the awkwardness. She wasn’t even hungry in the first place and now she felt like she might throw up out of nervousness. She stood up.

"Does your friend have sponge for brain?" Leander shouted at Gabriella.

Gabriella looked at him. "Be gentle with her, please," she said.

She didn’t know what was going on between them both. But it is not going to be resolved if Leander keeps on shouting at her. He might try to provoke her to respond, but she is only going to get more passive aggressive with him if he acts this way.

Their fight will not get resolved if this goes on.

"I am being gentle! She still has her legs to walk away from me, doesn’t she?" he growled.

Gabriella noticed that Viviana heard him. She wanted to bang her head somewhere. He’s not going to learn.

While Leander was watching Viviana slam the door shut, Gabriella slipped out of the dining room with the glass of wine. She needed the wine.

"Mommy and daddy are fighting, huh?" she whispered to Katerina getting out of her room with the cleaning supplies.

Katerina nodded with a knowing smile and walked away. Leander whooshed past Katerina and got up the stairs. He entered the bedroom to see his wife calmly making the bed.

"What’s your problem?" Leander shouted at Viviana.

"Nothing," Viviana shrugged not looking at him. "You told me your preference just like I did. I don’t think we have a problem."

Leander didn’t know what to respond to her. How can she take his words at its face value?

"Your preference is for me to have another woman on the side?" he asked. How can she be this callous?

"Be with that woman who haunts you in your dreams. Or women, if you want," Viviana said. "Live, Leander, like the king you are. Have a harem...and a lot of kids."

Leander gritted his teeth. Viviana heard him gritting his teeth and yet she didn’t flinch.

What’s the worse he could do to her after he said that he was thinking of another woman when he was with her?

"So, you are angry," Leander said.

Viviana didn’t answer him and continued with fluffing his pillow.

"She’s dead. I cannot bring her here," he said. He couldn’t see her face.

"Great!" Viviana threw her hands up. "No one can compete with her!"

"You’re being very annoying right now," Leander’s voice went deep. "Why do you think there is a competition?"

"Did she die when she married another man? How romantic!" Viviana scoffed. "And now she is haunting his dreams..." she mumbled under her breath.

Leander got madder.

"What is wrong with you?" he walked to her. "You are still talking about Helena? You were the one who pleaded with me that day to let her go. I would have killed her~"

"Yeah, I believe that. You still have her birthday as your password because you want to kill her!" Viviana shouted.

Leander stopped. Retracting the hands he reached out to grab her, he walked out of the bedroom. Viviana ran behind him.

"You can sleep in your bed. I won’t sleep there anymore!" she shouted behind him.

Leander stopped and turned at her. He looked mad and she took a step back unconsciously.

"Get in!" he pointed at his office.

Viviana stood rooted in her spot.

"Sixth of January, so, 0601. Come watch me changing my password," Leander spoke in a low voice.

"How magnanimous of you to be so merciful of me and my pathetic feelings," Viviana said and tried to walk past him.

It’s not even her real birthday!

"Where are you going?" he grabbed her arms. He was holding back from touching her because he knew he will hurt her if he did. He was so mad and when he is mad his hands won’t listen to him.

"I want my own room," she said.

Leander scoffed. He tried to be gentle with her but she is going too far. "What is your problem?" he asked. "If it is about some dead person, aren’t I supposed to be mad at you too? You constantly think about your Leo too! Did I say anything, ever?" he asked gritting his teeth.

"Yeah, I am thinking about a dead girl. You are thinking about a dead girl. We have the most perfect marriage!" Viviana gripped his hand to loosen his hold.

But his hold only tightened.

He carried her and walked into the bedroom not minding her struggles.
