Chapter 225: Easy To Handle

Viviana heard Leander’s car in the driveway. She did not like the timing of everything. She rushed forward and stood by the door.

Gabriella locked the door inside and Viviana stood in front of the door blocking Lionel.

But Lionel looked unhinged. He tried to push her away and reached for the doorknob.

"No!" Viviana stood firm covering the door. "Mr. Yannis, please get a hold of yourself. She does not want to see you!"

Viviana’s words didn’t reach Lionel. He was out of it and focusing only on getting into that room.

Katerina and the others came to the living room after hearing the commotion. When they saw the young Waldorf fighting with their Signora, they didn’t know what to do. Even the cats meowed their way out of the living room.

Leander saw his cats scattering away. His eyes got drawn to the guest room as he heard the door rattling. When he saw Lionel trying to overpower his wife, he almost lost it.

He threw his jacket on the floor and rushed there. He would have hit Lionel if only he didn’t notice that his little wife was holding on to the doorknob for dear life and Lionel was actually trying to get the doorknob.

It was his wife trying to "protect" her friend from the "evil" man. There wasn’t anything much going on.

"Nellie!" Leander walked to Lionel and patted his shoulder.

He very much wanted to see how long his petite wife can hold against Lionel. But he decided to test it in some other way. Although their intent was not vulgar, it appeared to be so from a distance. He didn’t want others to wag their tongues against his wife.

Leander had to call Lionel a couple more times. Viviana noticed Leander. "Hold him back, Leander!" she shouted, trying to recruit Leander as her muscleman.

Leander sighed. What a dud!

Lionel did calm down and seeing Leander, he took a couple of steps back. He realized that he behaved rather inappropriately with his friend’s wife. He looked very apologetic and turned to Viviana to apologize to her.

Viviana sighed in relief looking at the door. She was not even minding her husband or Lionel for that matter. Leander shook his head and led Lionel to the couch.

"Have you calmed down?" Leander asked Lionel after pouring him a glass of scotch.

"I’m sorry... I don’t know what got into me to..." he pointed at the door as he awkwardly recollected the previous incident.

"It’s fine," Leander chuckled. "I’ve never seen you so lively before..."

Lionel sighed in relief to see Laender smiling from his heart. He was thankful Leander didn’t take his slip in judgment so seriously.

"I always imagined myself to be this way with my sister..." Lionel shrugged. He still couldn’t believe how he acted so familiar with Bellissima. There could be only one explanation. "But I’ll try to be more thoughtful from now on."

He treats her like a sibling.

Leander laughed. He could imagine Lionel being that way with his sister if he had one. And it is better that the two of them are getting along. Lionel is a friend and he would hope for their friendship to continue. It won’t be possible if his friend and his wife hated each other.

"That watch...?" Leander was shocked to see the watch he threw in the trash in Lionel’s hand.

"Coffee for you," Viviana offered Leander the coffee mug interrupting him. She knew she was caught stealing from Leander’s trash. He is going to get mad at her. She pouted seeing the whiskey in his hand to change the topic.

Leander placed the whiskey down and got the coffee mug from her hand. He sensed his wife’s hand in the reappearance of the watch. What a woman I married!

"We’ll talk about that later," Viviana whispered in his ear. Leander rolled his eyes.

As if talking would change anything!

And he wondered if he is letting his wife take advantage of him.

"How long is she going to hide?" Leander asked jerking his head at the guest bedroom.

"She’s not hiding. She is taking her space to collect her thoughts," Viviana said.

Leander glared at her. Keeping the coffee mug on the table, he stood up.

"Where are you going?" Viviana followed Leander. "You cannot break the door!" she tried to stop him as he reached for the door.

Leander pressed his lips glaring at her.

"You can’t..." Viviana pouted holding his sleeves. She looked cute like a little mouse. Leander wanted to grab her and take her to the bedroom to teach her manners, but he held back.

1-2 1-2-3 1-2 1-2 1-2-3 1-2

Viviana placed her hands on her cheeks as Leander knocked on the door. Even the way he knocks on a door is unique. What a guy! But why does it sound so familiar?

Gabriella opened the door. Lionel who was sitting on the couch stood up out of instinct hearing the door open. Leander turned to look at Lionel and he stayed where he was. Viviana could see that it was hard for Lionel not to take a peek at Gabriella but he tried his best.

"How long are you going to hide? You hid behind lies all these years. You still don’t have the guts to face the truth head-on?" Leander asked.

She hid behind the lie that she liked Leander. And that complicated a lot of things in the past. Lionel deserves to have a word with her to know what she truly feels. Only then, he can move on.

Leander knew there is every possibility that Gabriella might tell Lionel about what Evander did to her. And that very well might break his friendship with him.

But he’d rather have his friend hate him and move on rather than be the broken man he is now. He is not someone who would act that way with his friend’s wife. He has lost his peace of mind. It hurt him to see Lionel like that.

Lionel should find love with a proper woman. There is a lot of fish in the sea and there will be someone for him. Lionel also has the right to be happy, just like he is happy with his wife.

He might deeply regret losing Lionel as a friend, but he will be happy if he sees Lionel happy too.

Viviana slipped through the gap between Leander and the wall and faced Gabriella. "You don’t have to listen to him. You do what is comfortable for you," she said.

She was not afraid of Leander.

Gabriella took in a deep breath closing her eyes. She then opened her eyes. "I’ll talk to him," she said.

Lionel dashed to the guest room the moment he heard Gabriella agreeing to talk to him. Leander wrapped his arm around Viviana’s waist and carried her out of the way.

Viviana stared at the door. She pouted when she heard the door lock inside. "Oh, he did not!" she said with her eyes wide as quail eggs. She didn’t stop there. She kneeled and tried to look through the keyhole.

Leander sighed looking at his mannerless wife.

"Don’t be naughty!" he slapped hard on her butt and dragged her away.

"He locked the door!" Viviana said rubbing her butt. It hurt a lot.

"Yeah, they are adults," Leander shrugged.

"But..." Viviana pouted looking at the door.

She knew Lionel will not hurt Gabriella and Gabriella is a woman who can hold herself. And like Leander said, they are adults. They can have their privacy to talk about personal stuff. She cannot be the annoying eavesdropper.

Viviana stomped on the floor. "Why are you right?"

Leander chuckled holding her cheeks and kissed her. "Because I’m the smart one."

Viviana pouted and tried to push him back. She wanted to tell him that she is the smarter one. But she was not that shameless to lie that brazenly.

Viviana noticed Mary sneaking into the backyard and Viviana figured Juno must have arrived.

"All right, give me my cigarette pack. I’ll take a walk..." she held out her hand.

Leander stared at her as if he didn’t understand what she was talking about

"I found the purse I brought to your birthday party. Only the cigarette pack was missing. Give it back to me," she asked.

Leander said nothing and stared at her as if he didn’t hear her. Why should he enable her to kill herself by giving her cigarettes? It doesn’t even smell good!

"You’re a very annoying...mean...person..." Viviana said after searching for words to say to him.

Leander smiled.

His smile only annoyed her more. She stomped her way out to the backyard. Leander shook his head with a smile and walked to the couch. She is not hard to handle. She must be going out to play with that dog.

His eyes ended up on the guest room door. He didn’t know what they were talking about. And when Lionel comes out of that room, will he still have him as a friend? Or would we lose him forever?
