Chapter 214: Caring And Thoughtful

Chapter 214: Caring And Thoughtful

Leander fisted his hands. He didn’t know why he said what he said. He didn’t have to tell her what he feels like.

That day when his mother visited, he had a long talk with his brother. His brother did show a different side to him. But rather than feeling closer to his brother, he was doubtful.

Was his brother just saying what he wanted to hear and was not speaking from his heart?

When that thought came to his mind, usually he doesn’t allow such thoughts when it comes to his family. But after seeing how terribly his mother treated his wife, he did not want to spare any chances for his family.

He put a tail on his brother.

That’s how he knew that his brother hadn’t cut off his relationship with Nadia Donatello as he said, but in fact, was meeting her often and was planning something.

After agreeing to attend the "birthday party" Evander arranged for him, he found a reason to attend the party. That’s why he asked Evander to ask Palatini to attend the party. Evander was ready to accommodate him and that was the first for Leander.

It was not hard for him to learn what his brother was planning. Turns out, no one around Evander wanted to take Evander’s side against him. It was a bit shocking for him to learn that truth. He was under the impression that their men would find betraying Evander harder because of the fear of pain he induces in the hearts of his enemies.

But Evander’s men he talked to readily were willing to take his side and spy on Evander. It probably was because of the shift in their positions in the family.

After knowing that Evander wanted to humiliate his wife, he wanted to keep his wife away. That would be the safer bet. But then he wondered if keeping her away would solve the problem in the long run.

It won’t.

That’s why he insisted that she attended the party with him.

And he came across the tape. He saw her suffering, her pain. Yeah, Brie suffered too, cruelly. But he couldn’t watch his wife’s pain.

There it was... a snuff tape to add to his wife’s pain.

When he saw her in pain sitting in front of his laptop, he got scared. He feared she will slip through his fingers. He still remembered how he felt when she jumped out of his car.

He saved her somehow even though he didn’t know much about swimming. And then she went still. He did not want to go through that again.

He was annoyed at how sure his wife was that Gabriella was not lying. And as always, she was right. She was right and she was in pain.

What is the use of him if all he does is watches her in pain and do nothing to alleviate her pain?

He is her husband! He has a duty to offer her a happy life.

And that’s why he did what he did. As an atonement for leaving her in pain.

He had a selfish reason for not explaining everything to her. He wanted her to take charge. He wanted her to stand her ground and protect herself. He wanted her to want to live.

He didn’t know if she would have fought for her life this valiantly. But he had a feeling that she would fight for her virtue. He was right.

He was more than happy she did what he wanted to do.

And these days, he is having weird thoughts. He didn’t know if it was the weird dreams he keeps having. He is having dreams about that girl. She would be so close to him and even her smile was etched in his heart.

And he had started to associate that little girl with his wife. He didn’t know if his dreams were part of reality or if he was extrapolating his wife into that girl or vice versa.

But he could see each day how much his wife is showing him the right path. For the first time, he is feeling happy. And even though she annoys him by being right all the time, when he comes out the other side, he could see that she is making him happier.

Taking his wife’s side is not in any way wrong.

He would have easily sacrificed his degenerate brother in the restroom itself. Evander deserves it. But he cannot have Evander’s blood on his hands. Whether he liked it or not, Evander is his brother.

But he knew Evander is searching for his death. And death will coil around him. He will need help and he was not going to give it to him. Death is going to take Evander pretty soon.

His wife and he have no need to bloody their hands for a vile creature like Evander.

Viviana didn’t know what he was thinking but she hugged him as closely as she could. She didn’t want this man to be hurting. If she was not wet, she would have hugged him much closer.

Leander stood up hearing the knock on the door. Viviana covered herself closely with Leander’s jacket. She was feeling a bit cold. She wanted to go home and change into warmer clothes. She wondered why Leander was still here.

It was Steve and he passed him a bag. Leander locked the door and walked to her. Viviana got the bag and looked in.

Fresh clothes!

Even she didn’t think of asking him for fresh clothes. She was willing to endure the cold. But he does not want her to endure. He wants to alleviate her discomfort.

Did he buy new clothes? No, she had seen this dress in her wardrobe. He packed for her. He planned everything. Right till to have another set of clothes for her, he planned.

She looked at Leander and before she knew it, she started crying. She didn’t expect him to be this caring. She didn’t even think that someone could care this much for her.

For her! She is not special and she’s not worth anything. And yet, the man with a beautiful heart is pampering her like this.

Why?

How can I not fall for him if he does all this for me?

Leander was shocked to see tears on her face. "Does it hurt anywhere?" he held her hand and knelt in front of her.

"No, no..." she shook her head and wiped her tears. She didn’t even dare to say that she was crying out of happiness.

It won’t last. It won’t last. Her happiness never lasts.

"Thank you for this, Leander," she said. Her throat went heavy and she cleared her throat. "I’ll change," she said and walked to the corner of the room.

The bag had everything including a towel. The zipper got stuck when she tried to undress. She turned to look at Leander now sitting on the couch. She thought he would be staring elsewhere, but he was staring right at her.

"Help me," she said and bit her lips.

His eyes were enticing. And when he smirked, her abdomen tightened and her heart skipped a beat. He stood and walked to her.

His big hand reached for her zipper. Warm... so warm...

She closed her eyes.

She remembered that day when she held her zipper to stop Evander from humiliating her. And today, he...

She winced as she sensed something soft on her neck. Leander chuckled as he kissed her neck.

"I do not hate short hair," he hissed. "Your neck is so pretty..."

Viviana hugged herself as he pulled her dress down. It was sticking to her skin as it was wet. With gentle pulls, he helped her get off the dress.

"Need help here?" he whispered in her ear as his hand reached for her bra strap.

Viviana sucked in a sharp breath as his warm fingers caressed along her spine. She didn’t answer him because she knew it was a trick question. He does not want her answer. No matter what she answers, he will do what he wants to do.

He popped her bra open. His kisses trailed through her shoulder and her arm. His warm breath tingled her.

There was no one in there and she could hear nothing but his breathing and her heavy heartbeat. She indulged in his touches.

*Brrr*

She heard his phone vibrate. He left her and she shivered out of the cold. She picked up the towel and covered herself with it.

"Get dressed soon. Five minutes," he said looking at the phone.

Viviana nodded and got dressed as faster as she could. Leander pretty much looked only at the phone. She figured that he might be dealing with something important.

She smiled seeing her blood-red dress. Now both of them matched.

"You should have worn this dress in the first place," he said as she walked to him.

"Maybe..." she smiled. "You should choose my dresses from now on," she said.

He smiled and hugged her. "Maybe I should..."

"Things are going to get loud. Stay by my side," he said.

Viviana sensed that something dangerous is ahead. But if he has planned for this much, he must have plans for what is coming too.

She nodded. "I won’t leave your side."

Just as they reached for the door, Viviana heard gunshots ringing throughout the hallway. Her heart skipped a beat. Leander walked to the front pushing her to his back.

Here it goes...
