Chapter 211: Walking Into A Trap
Chapter 211: Walking Into A Trap
"Let’s not talk about anyone’s wife or mother-in-law," Lionel gladly took the mediator role. "Unless Kastello has something related to the Vitale family..." he asked.
Leander looked at Nicholai and he had gone silent. Nicholai probably didn’t expect him to talk back without using his gun. He does want to shut Nicholai forever, but it’s not prudent to do it right now.
Nicholai mumbled something and walked to his seat. With a glass of tequila, he settled.
Leander scrolled through his phone. He then showed a picture to Nicholai. "It’s Tabitha Bruno with Vito Vitale in one of your properties."
Nicholai squinted his eyes. "It looks old... when was it taken?" he asked. "Is that my dad in the background...?"
"It looks at least two decades old," Lionel gave his input. "Where did you get it?"
"My grandpa had it. He said this probably is the reason the Vitale family is here. I don’t think my grandfather has any more details to add. He did say that your mother-in-law was loose and tried to connect with any man with influence even after her marriage with Bart Bruno although she had a daughter."
Leander said in a flat tone. His grandfather said that it was one of the reasons he didn’t approve of his marriage with Helena back then. He didn’t know why his grandfather didn’t mention it then or even when he talked about the Vitale family.
But he sent this picture to his phone.
It seemed like an excuse to Leander. His heart was unsettled as he had doubts that his grandfather was not doing enough to protect his wife. That was the reason he arranged this meeting when his grandfather refused to sit for a meeting of the three families of the South.
"Even if that was the case, why is your wife marked?" Nicholai asked.
Leander looked at him blankly. He does not know the answer to that question either.
"This picture looks incomplete..." Lionel observed. "Is it possible that there were others in this picture too and it was cut off?"
Leander nodded. He definitely thought about that too. All in all, it is possible that his grandfather might be lying about something. He didn’t know what.
"You could ask your old man. My old man is dead..." Nicholai sounded serious for a moment. "I cannot let them take her now... She’s carrying my son," He let out a sigh.
Lionel wanted to roll his eyes. So, he wants to protect his wife because she is carrying his son. If she was pregnant with a daughter, he would have left her to suffer. What a model husband!
"You know how our old men are. Do you think anyone can get them to talk?" Lionel asked. "At least you will be able to find some clues from what your father left..."
Nicholai stared at the picture. "It’s the property we own by the sea. We renovated it five years ago... Was it a party? Is that why Vito Vitale was there?" he thought out aloud.
Leander and Lionel fell silent. They didn’t think that Nicholai would agree to cooperate with them, but it appears that he might be pursued.
"I don’t want this right when I’m so close to getting an heir..." Nicholai mumbled.
Lionel smiled at Leander. It seems like Nicholai would fully cooperate with them in this issue since his child is involved.
Nicholai threw out some theories and Lionel joined in the discussion. As they were talking, Lionel received a text. He read that text and looked at Leander.
Without saying anything, Leander understood what it was.
Leonardo Vitale is in the club.
But that’s fine. Leander was expecting him. It was the reason he leaked the birthday party. He knew Leonardo can’t help it.

Viviana was all smiles feeling the kicks of the baby.
"Aww!" Helena squinted her eyes. "I have to use the restroom," she held her breath and tried to stand up. "It sucks! I think I should settle in the restroom until the baby comes," she chuckled.
Viviana laughed along and helped Helena up. And as it was customary, she offered to join Helena to the restroom. It’s an unwritten rule among the females to accompany each other to restrooms whether they feel the need to or not. Viviana didn’t want to break that custom.
As they walked to the restroom, Viviana remembered the conversation she had with Leander in the car about her clothing choices that lacks functionality for this purpose.
She smiled and a layer of blush embellished her blooming face. She slowed down and lingered as her heart yearned for a glance at her beloved. She fixed her stray hair behind her ear and looked longingly at the room Leander disappeared to.
How long is he going to be there?
Helena stopped and waited for Viviana. Viviana cleared her throat as her view was obscured. With a smile, she walked along with Helena to the restroom at the far end of the hallway.
"The restrooms are common for the entire floor?" Viviana questioned.
She never visited this place before and she found it weird that the separate mini-nightclubs don’t have individual restrooms and they all will have to use a common restroom at the end of the hallway.
It just felt like a bad design.
"I know, right? What were they thinking?" Helena nodded.
"The other rooms are unoccupied, I guess," Viviana observed. There weren’t many in the hallways. The ones who were there looked like thugs. She didn’t feel very comfortable there. Her instinct told her that there was something wrong. But she couldn’t figure out what it was.
But Helena looked unbothered. And Viviana walked with her.
Once getting inside the restroom, Helena got inside a stall. Viviana looked around. Some of the stalls were occupied, but there was no sound.
She found that suspicious. She didn’t remember the ladies’ room being this quiet. There was no one in the washbasin area. That was more suspicious. What is the probability of all the women who entered here being in the stalls at a given time? Pretty low.
To add more to her suspicion, she heard someone by the door. The sound of footfalls resembled of that a man. Although had no need to use the toilet, she got inside a stall.
Leander told her about the Vitale family. And now something suspicious is happening around her. She didn’t want to take it easy.
And what about Helena? Is she in danger too? He’s pregnant for heaven’s sake!
Darn you, Leander! I needed the knife!
Cussing her beloved husband in her heart, she tried to find something that could be used as a weapon just in case. It was a public bathroom stall! What can she find? It’s a new building and so the pipelines were fixed behind the wall. There was nothing.
The bathroom door opened. And Viviana heard people getting in. One of the stalls opened. One by one, Viviana heard a lot of stalls opening.
She sighed hearing the mumbles of a couple of women.
"I got her as promised..."
Even though it was a whisper, she recognized the voice.
Helena.
God help me!
"You’re pretty when pregnant... Want to f*ck like in the past?"
Viviana held her breath hearing Evander’s voice.
That was not a surprise!
"Evan!"
Nadia’s childish voice was louder than the rest. The other two shushed her.
"Consider us even. Don’t bother me again," Helena said in a low voice and walked out.
So, was Helena forced to do this?
Viviana could sit there and make assumptions, but she knew something sinister is going to happen. And she didn’t want to sit and wait. Because she heard at least five doors opening. That means there are more people in this restroom.
She didn’t know why she took a peek behind the flush tank of the toilet. That was the only place she didn’t look. And she was surprised to see a steel rod fixed behind the tank.
That could be helpful!
Viviana tried to loosen the rod. It came off pretty easily. She let out a sigh.
He took the knife from me for my safety, huh? How good will a rod be?
She hung her purse on the hook and waited for them to reach her stall. She didn’t have a cellphone. Leander never gave her one. But she needed help. She cannot handle it alone.
She tried to think of something.
But she was not left alone for long.
"Come on out, Minerva..." Nadia knocked the stalls one by one with something. Viviana thought that it might be a machete probably. It sounded like one.
Are they going to behead me?
Nadia stopped in front of the stall Viviana was in.
"She’s here, Evan!" she laughed. "Break the door!"
Viviana took in a deep breath. She only has a rod. She cannot kill herself with a rod. The only option is to fight and find a way to get out of the restroom and alert someone.
But remembering the goons she saw on the way here; she had a feeling that those probably were Evander’s men.
"So much for protecting me, Leander," she mumbled.
"No need for breaking the door. Let’s not cause property damage..." Viviana spoke in a chirpy voice. Hiding the rod behind her back, she opened the door of the stall.
"What do you want?" she looked at Nadia.
There were two men other than Evander. They weren’t holding any weapons in their hands. Just...blades.
Are they razors?
