She was already in a bad headspace dealing with her father’s death, her mother’s sickness, and her brother’s betrayal, not to mention her love being misunderstood. To add to that, she was put through the worst thing that could happen to a woman.

Evander cannot be considered a human. He’s a demon walking on earth. A psychopath!

"And then that monster went everywhere and told them that I came to him for help and offered myself in exchange for money. Gabriella started shaking as she wept. Viviana held her close.

Leander’s vice is the unshakable love he has for his family. He values blood more than anything and stands by all the atrocities committed by his family.

Doesn’t he have agency of his own? Shouldn’t he be able to see right from wrong?

"And do you know one other thing, Melanie... the worst thing that monster did?" Gabriella gritted her teeth.

Her entire face was puffed and her nose flared because of anger.

"I later learned that it was Evander Kastello who interfered with my mother’s treatment and asked the hospital to stop her treatment. He was... he was planning on making me sign the contract by any means, Melanie... Had I known...I would have begged Lionel for money not caring that I’d become unworthy of him after what that monster did to me. And I was wrong, Melanie," Gabriella leaned on her.

"I thought that my video circulating would be the worst that could happen. It’s not... Now I know it’s not... It’s nothing compared to what I endured all these years...I’m so...And all those men who wanted me...from dusk till dawn, non-stop...I..."

Gabriella leaned on Viviana. Viviana hugged her and let her cry on her shoulders. She could see that Gabriella was broken. Her soul is broken. She needs healing.

Viviana on the other hand was so angry. Evander is just like Peter. Once they want something, they will use any means to extort it from others.

Just like Peter got the land for his resort, Evander wanted to take Gabriella and he did a perfect cover-up too. Honestly, she was not surprised to learn this about Evadner, but she was a little disappointed in Gabriela.

"If you told me what he did to you, I would have killed him," Viviana gritted her teeth. "It’s not late even now."

Gabriella sniffed and looked up. She shook her head shaking her head. "You can’t, Melanie... You can’t. I would never let you hurt your soul. Never!"

Viviana scoffed. What soul? She’s been feeling dead inside for a long time.

"Does Father Flannagan know you’re alive? Did you contact him?" Gabriella asked. She knew only then Viviana would calm down.

Talking about Father Flannagan did distract Viviana. The scowl on her face reduced and she held Gabriella’s hand raising her brows. In just a moment, a childish innocence returned to her face.

"No. I didn’t dare to contact him. Do you know how he is doing?" Viviana asked.

"He’s very sick. He had diabetes and he had his foot amputated. You know that. Recently, a couple of months ago, I heard that he suffered a heart attack. It was bad but they saved his life. Still..."

Viviana sighed hearing Gabriella. Her eyes watered thinking of the kind old man who loved her the most even when she was unlovable.

"He must have heard of your death," Gabriella added and hugged her. "He must be devastated."

"Will you find a way to inform him that I am fine, Gabby? I don’t want to give him heartbreak..." Viviana told her.

Right now, he must be thinking that she was dead after hurting Evander.

"Me?" Gabriella raised her brows. But looking at Viviana’s pleading face, she changed her mind. "I’ll find a way... Maybe I should confess and receive absolution before I..." Gabriella bit her lips stopping herself from finishing her sentence.

Viviana ’s heart skipped a beat. Surely, Gabriella might not be planning on...

"Do you know?" Viviana looked at Gabriella with a wry smile. "Just after my parents died, I went to him and asked him to let me register to become a nun."

"A nun?" Gabriella chuckled. "Did he hit you?"

Viviana shrugged." He refused me because I don’t even pray or touch the bible, shouted at me that it was not a joke, and almost hit me for taking it so lightly... He then hugged me with his eyes full of love and told me that he will meet me again only if I came with my fiancé. He wanted to bless our union and if he was up for it, he wanted to officiate the wedding himself..."

Viviana’s eyes ended up on her ring. Everyone who loved her wanted her to get married. She was not interested and she thought there was no chance of that happening.

"He wanted me to get married in St. Michael’s Church... I told him that it was impossible and if that was the condition, then I won’t be able to see him till he dies..."

But against all odds, she is married now.

A tear drop fell on her hand. Gabriella held Viviana’s hand. "It’s a pretty ring..." she said.

"It is, isn’t it?" Viviana looked at her wiping her eyes.

"He chose it for you?" Gabriella asked.

Viviana shook her head. "I don’t know... He could have asked someone else to choose it... He didn’t tell me..."

"He was wearing a similar ring too," Gabriella said.

There was silence between them for some time. "I am happy for you, Melanie... I really am. I am jealous of you and at the same time, I am very happy for you. Leander is a very good man."

Viviana wanted to ask.

He is, she knew. But still...

"Don’t think that I’m raining on your parade. But I have to warn you. You should be careful, Melanie," Gabriella grabbed Viviana’s hand and Viviana looked at her.
