Chapter 143: Confrontation

Leander called Danielle immediately.

"She talked to one of my staff who was with your wife in the trial room. At first, she asked about what she ordered. When our staff refused, she insisted to know if your wife had a distinct birthmark anywhere on her body, especially her chest. My staff said that she saw nothing..."

"What else?" Leander asked.

"Concealer doesn’t fool everyone..." Daniella let out a deep breath.

Leander gritted his teeth and ended the call. He knew that Danielle would be careful not to cross him, but he couldn’t understand why Tabitha wants to know about the birthmark.

Is she colluding with Evander?

Whatever it was about, he realized it would be a safe bet to remove the birthmark permanently. Only that would ensure the secret doesn’t spread.

As they reached the lobby, he saw Nicholai walking in with Helena. Pushing Viviana behind him, Leander walked up to Nicholai.

Viviana tried to see what was going on, but Steve covered her from Nicholai and he got ready to grab the gun if necessary.

Through the little gap, Viviana saw Leander shoving Nicholai at his chest. She didn’t know why Leander was acting this way unprovoked.

"F*ck this bas*ard!" Nicholai tried to shove Leander back, but Leander stood like a mountain. Nicholai’s shove didn’t move Leander an inch.

Helena took a step back covering her face with her hands. Her eyes filled with tears. She tried to pull Nicholai back, but he shoved her. Helena almost banged her head on the door.

"Solve your family issues within your family," Leander spoke gritting his teeth.

Viviana guessed it must be about Helena’s mother asking for help. She felt sorry for Helena. Her pregnancy was more pronounced and she peeked through the gap to see if she was okay.

Holding her protruding belly, Helena took in a deep breath. Viviana saw that she looked abandoned and her heart fell.

Viviana had a feeling that Tabitha wanted to ask for Leander’s help because Helena’s life might be in danger because of Nicholai. Nicholai did not treat Helena right as she noted in the dinner party. Even in Leander’s presence, he shoved his pregnant wife and was not even looking back to see if she was okay.

Why Leander suggested something to Nicholai that might turn his anger at Helena, she couldn’t decipher. What made Leander that angry?

"Who are you to advise me?" Nicholai shouted.

The bouncers came around to stop the situation from escalating.

"Keep your mother-in-law in line!" Leander pointed his finger at Nicholai. Fixing his jacket, Leander then walked out of the mall in a large gait.

Steve covered Viviana from the back as they walked past Nicholai. Viviana couldn’t help but turn back to have a look at Helena. Leander didn’t have to out Tabitha like this. Only Helena would be affected by this.

Just like she expected, she saw Nicholai scowling at Helena. Helena was shaking her head as tears streamed down her cheeks. Nicholai was shouting at Helena as long as Viviana watched until she got inside their car.

"Don’t stare at other people’s drama," Leander scowled at her.

Viviana bowed her head. "You caused the drama. She’s pregnant for goodness’ sake," she mumbled.

Leander heard her but he didn’t say anything. That woman should have kept to herself. She won’t be the first one to come to him for help while simultaneously in cahoots with his brother.

If she wants to play this double game with him and try to hurt his wife, she will have to pay for it dearly.

And why is this mouse care that Helena is pregnant? Her husband should be the one caring more.

He relaxed knowing that Nicholai would take care of Tabitha for him. That woman shouldn’t be roaming around sniffing around to learn about his wife after she annoyed him by talking about her daughter to him in front of his wife.

She should have thought about the consequences more before talking to him.

Viviana was angry at Leander, but at the same time, she was too tired. And who is she to question Leander about his activities?

If this is how he treats the woman he loved in the past, then... She couldn’t even imagine how terrible her fate is going to be.

She didn’t know he had ordered a bulk load of dresses for her, but she was tired of trying on those different dresses.

"Stop the car! Stop the car!" she hit Leander’s thighs.

"What?" Leander asked after the car stopped.

"Ice cream!" she pointed at the ice cream truck by the park. "I want!"

Leander sighed. He did not like stopping in the middle when it could be unsafe. But she looked so excited. She didn’t have half the excitement for the new dresses she tried on. But it’s just ice cream. And ice cream doesn’t hurt anyone. "Here," Leander offered his card.

Viviana gulped seeing the black card. "I’ll handle it," she stepped out of the car. She has $90!

Steve opened the door to step out, but Leander stopped him. He didn’t think she is going to run into any trouble. Nicholai wouldn’t act this soon. And that other guy is still in the mall according to his sources.

He sat in the car following her with his eyes. She was all smiles getting a cone. His lips curved when she got another cone.

Is that for me?

He opened the door for her as she came running. The sun was up and although it was not very hair, the ice creams had started to melt.

"Which one?" she asked holding a yellow one and a brown one.

He got the yellow one for himself.

AS she got inside, Viviana realized that she didn’t buy one for Steve and the driver. "I’m sorry. I’ll get one for you two," she got down.

"No, Signora," Steve stopped her. He already saw his boss glaring at him. "I have a cold, and Mark doesn’t like ice creams."

Viviana was surprised to learn that someone doesn’t like ice cream. But they looked like they didn’t want ice creams. And so, she closed the door.

Leander swallowed the entire ice cream whole without even letting a single drop go waste. This is the ice cream his wife bought him. How could he let it go to waste?
