Chapter 115: Not Backing Off
Chapter 115: Not Backing Off
Viviana wanted to rush out, but she didn’t want to. She thought she hit him on the spot and that’s why he’s trying to drive her away. She decided not to leave without getting a deal.
She thought a lot about it as she had a lot of spare time to think on her own.
When she woke up thirsty last night, she found that she was on the bed. She remembered falling asleep in the bathtub. Usually, when she sleeps in the bathtub, she wakes up there. She didn’t remember Katerina waking her up either.
That only leaves... Leander.
She looked around the room and she couldn’t find him anywhere. She thought that he might be staying in his study for the night because of their "fight". But he was not there either.
As she was returning from the study back to the bedroom, she heard Steve seriously discussing something with Katerina. It was then she learned that Leander left and he can’t be reached through his phone.
She was worried, but more than worry, she was scared more as time passed.
What happened to him?
She knew what kind of life he leads. He must have a lot of enemies. Her mind went through a lot of scenarios. She tried to turn a blind eye and stay in the room. In a way, what happens to him does not concern her.
But she couldn’t stay put. Her heart was restless.
Deciding to learn something, she went downstairs. She was not stopped by anyone to her surprise. And when she asked about Leander, they told her what they knew.
She sat on the couch in the living room, watching Steve making calls. He was stressed and was asking the ones who were informed of Leander’s disappearance to keep it low. The top priority was the keep his disappearance a secret.
It only made her more worried.
And when Steve asked his men to fortify the house, she started to get scared. There was a serious deliberation going on between Katerina and Steve on whether they should inform the main house. Their enemies might take this chance and attack them.
Both of them looked at HER for the final decision—a tie breaker. HER! What would she know?
In the end, Steve insisted on not informing the main house. She thought Steve knew more than he shows. She asked him what happened right before Leander left. He didn’t tell her anything.
But he said this, "I’ll protect you, Signora, with my life, in the absence of my Capo."
That should have made her assured. But it only scared her to death. And it was then she realized.
She is Leander’s wife!
If something bad happens to him...
She’s already an orphan. She will become a widow too.
If she thought life with him is terrible and painful, life without him is going to be much worse. In his absence, she will be the one everyone takes out their anger on. She is in terrible danger without him.
What if Evander gets a sniff of Leander’s absence? What if that pig Barnabas learns that Leander is not home?
She went pale out of fright.
But thankfully she didn’t have to be panicked for long. Leander’s men tracked him using his phone’s GPS. They said he is just taking a drive. Steve said that although being alone is not safe for him, he won’t be in danger because he is vigilant. He is still in the Kastello territory and most people won’t know him. But one call would gather all their men, Steve said.
She was still worried. Nothing was simple. A lot could go wrong.
Steve might have seen her panic. No one would expect Leander Kastello to drive himself, is what Steve said, unbelievable as it may.
When the sky started to brighten up, Steve came with the good news that Leander has stopped moving. She was scared. What if there was some fight going on?
Steve was the one who asked her to use the landline. He was sure that Leander is just resting. She deliberated for some time. She did remember that he hurt her, and she didn’t want to talk to him.
Why should she?
After much deliberation, she decided to call him for the sake of her peace of mind. She didn’t want him to leave her here alone.
But she regretted talking to him.
Leaving her to be scared here all night, that guy was having fun at the beach! The nerves!
So, in her anger, she stomped back to their room. And it was then she had enough time to think about her future plans.
She didn’t want to kill herself anymore. And Leander didn’t want to kill her for some reason. She tried to find out the reason, and that’s when it hit her.
It’s because she is his wife!
He’s been telling her all the time and yet she couldn’t understand what it meant to be his wife.
Because of him, she is in more danger. The least he could do is make her life easy.
And so, she is not going to back off.
"Why aren’t you getting out?" Leander shouted.
"Just agree to my deal," she said with her chin up.
She need not be afraid of him. He should be the one afraid of her. He has more to lose. She is marked for death and if she cannot avoid pain, then so be it. She needs to accept that.
That’s why she wanted to set some boundaries with him. He might not believe that his grandfather is going to kill her, but that is the reality. She didn’t want to die as a prisoner when she is in much more danger because of him.
She just wanted to live free and enjoy the few days she has left before dying a painful death. He wouldn’t want to lose his family. So, he will have to agree with her.
For the first time in forever, she was in a good mood because something was going her way for once.
She got the lion!
She looked at him with a smile, patting her own back for her intelligence. He is only shouting at her because she got him.
But she didn’t want to stare at him for long. Her eyes get distracted and end up on his chest. She never thought that she’d be that attracted to a smooth, tattooed chest this much. And his hips were so narrow, and she could see the V-shape thingy right below how abdomen. And if the towel slips, she would come across in full view the "thing".
Come to think of it, she couldn’t see it that night. Eh, it’s a shame she won’t be able to see it again or feel what she felt that night again... But it’s a bargain that’s worth it.
Leander scoffed. "Look at you..." he smirked and walked to her. He could see where her eyes were at.
