Chapter 422: In The Bureau

Agatha was shocked when she received another call from the World Master Bureau’s headquarters. She knew immediately that something big was happening.

She had already shared everything she knew so far with Clyde and had hoped to solve the situation without putting herself at risk.

Now, she regretted everything.

She should never have gotten involved with Clyde in the first place. She should never have seen him as a mere stepping stone just because he was a little stronger. She should have thought more clearly back then.

But now, it was too late for regrets.

It had already happened, and all she could do was act carefully to make sure the Bureau—and Morvius—didn’t uncover her true role.

At this point, she could only rely on Clyde and support him completely. If Clyde really managed to conquer the higher realm, she would secure a powerful position for herself.

Nodding to herself, Agatha steeled her heart.

She stepped into her white room and gave instructions to her agents to continue running the Selection Stage scenarios as usual.

These agents weren’t actually living beings—they were programs created by the Bureau to make the World Masters’ tasks easier.

After that, she opened a portal that would take her straight to the Bureau’s central headquarters.

But she hesitated, standing still before the swirling energy.

It was taking her longer than expected to fully brace herself.

"I just need to stay out of the way when Clyde attacks," she whispered to herself. "I can’t be near him when the fighting starts. I’ve already seen enough of the destruction he can cause."

Agatha was almost certain that when Clyde arrived, he wouldn’t try to negotiate. She didn’t believe he would talk to Morvius at all.

Besides, what was there to even say after all the chaos and disaster he had caused?

After telling herself that, Agatha stepped through the portal. Normally, traveling between realms had never felt difficult. But now, burdened by the weight in her mind, she felt nauseous as she passed through the flashing lights and raw energy.

When she arrived, the lights disappeared, and she found herself in the massive white grand hall, where hundreds of other World Masters had already gathered.

Some were still stepping out of portals, just like her.

Their faces were tense.

Clearly, they had already heard the news.

Several World Masters that Agatha recognized waved at her. She gritted her teeth.

"Dammit. I really don’t want to talk to anyone right now," she thought.

A human woman and a male Elf began walking toward her.

"You’ve heard the news, right? What the hell is going on?" the Elf asked, frowning.

"I never even thought about what was happening in the higher realms," the human woman said, sounding stressed. "I was too busy managing my own world. Is it true that some unknown entity is threatening the higher beings?"

"You really didn’t know?" the Elf asked, looking surprised.

"No," the woman shook her head. "I started investigating it because I thought the threat would be destroyed quickly. I mean, he attacked the higher realm, right? But it turns out... he’s much stronger than I expected." She recalled the recordings she had seen. "Much stronger. But it’s fine now, isn’t it? Sir Morvius has already found him."

Agatha stared at them both, laughing bitterly in her heart. After all, she had been the first one to help that so-called ’threat’ create this mess.

"Let’s just wait for Sir Morvius to explain everything," Agatha said calmly.

All the World Masters who had gathered immediately began moving toward the central hall. It was an enormous space, with a high ceiling that seemed almost endless. Everything from the floor, towering pillars, and the dome above was pure white, so pristine that it almost hurt the eyes.

Yet despite the lack of any visible light sources, the hall glowed with a steady brightness as if the walls themselves were made of light. No one spoke as they filed in, their footsteps swallowed by the strange, soft atmosphere.

After a few minutes, a subtle ripple passed through the hall. Morvius arrived.

The Director of the World Master Bureau stepped onto the raised podium at the front of the hall. He was dressed in his usual immaculate white suit, which almost made him blend into the surroundings.

His hair was white as snow, combed neatly back, and there were heavy black bags under his eyes, showing the exhaustion he carried.

But even with his tired face his gaze remained sharp. Morvius clearly wanted to project firmness, even if it was costing him every ounce of strength.

He reached for the podium’s mic, cleared his throat once, then spoke, his voice low but filled with authority.

"We have found the origin of the creature that is disrupting the equilibrium of the higher realms," he announced.

Murmurs stirred across the hall, but no one dared interrupt.

Morvius narrowed his eyes slightly and continued.

"I must warn all of you: this anomaly is unlike anything we have ever encountered. Its nature is unknown. Its intentions is unpredictable. It can appear and disappear between realms without warning or any clear pattern. As of now, we still have no understanding of how it manages to traverse the barriers between worlds with such ease."

At that, Agatha frowned, standing stiffly among the crowd.

She had never even thought about that before. How was Clyde doing it? Traveling through realms—not just normal worlds, but even the higher realms—without restrictions? Even the World Masters themselves needed Bureau-sanctioned portals and permission to cross certain boundaries.

What kind of magic or artifact did Clyde possess? Was it technology? Some relic from the Ancient One himself?

Morvius gave the crowd a moment to absorb the gravity of his words before speaking again.

"In light of this, the Selection Stages are to be suspended immediately," he said. "All of you are to redirect your focus to capturing this anomaly. This takes priority over all else."

The hall exploded into low, anxious voices, some of the World Masters exchanging quick glances.

Canceling the Selection Stages was not a decision taken lightly. The Bureau’s entire structure revolved around grooming potential followers through the Selections. To halt it meant they were facing a truly dangerous crisis. This had never happened before.

Agatha didn’t move. She stayed quiet, letting the tension swirl around her like mist.

Inside her mind, though, she was calculating fast. Clyde was still moving and still growing stronger. The Bureau was underestimating him and Morvius is trying to capture him by himself so that he can gain the reputation from the higher beigns. He was still treating him like a problem that could be contained.

Agatha had already made up her mind. No matter what happened, she would stand behind Clyde and Asqa. She needed them both to survive, and more importantly, to win. Only by tying herself to them could she guarantee her own future.

But she couldn’t act recklessly. Any false move would expose her and lead to her immediate destruction.

She stood quietly among the gathered World Masters, her expression neutral, hiding the cold calculations turning in her mind.

Morvius, standing tall on the podium, noticed the faint ripple of disagreement passing through the crowd. His sharp gaze swept across the hall, silencing even the softest murmurs. Then he raised his voice again.

"This is not a matter for debate," he said firmly. "If the higher beings themselves are wounded or fall, then the foundation of our Bureau and the entire multiversal structure will collapse. There will be no Selection Stages, no Worlds to rule over. No order, only chaos."

The murmuring died down completely.

"Securing the higher realms takes absolute priority," Morvius declared, his voice echoing through the vast white space. "Nothing else matters until this anomaly is brought under control."

There was a long, heavy silence. Then, one of the World Masters raised his hand and spoke.

"What about the Worlds that have already begun their Selection Stages?" he asked, his voice calm but firm. "Do we abandon them?"

Morvius shook his head slowly.

"No," he replied. "Maintain the Selection Stage scenarios as they are. Keep the participants within the stages. Stall them. Buy time. Until this crisis is resolved, none of them must be allowed to complete the final trials."

The hall filled with soft sighs of resignation.

Many of the World Masters looked frustrated but nodded their acceptance. They knew they had no other choice. No one wanted to risk their position by opposing an order that came from the highest authority of the Bureau.

Agatha narrowed her eyes slightly as she listened.

"Good," Morvius said once he saw the crowd’s silent acceptance. "Be prepared. You will all receive your next assignment soon. Dismissed."

With that final word, Morvius stepped down from the podium.

The gathered World Masters began to scatter, portals opening across the hall as they returned to their respective realms and Worlds.

Agatha remained for a few moments longer, watching them all leave.

Her heart pounded quietly in her chest. Just like Morvius had said, they don’t know when or where Clyde will appeared again next. Maybe he will arrived here soon.

So Agatha also immediately go to her portal, not wanting to be here when Clyde arrived.
