Chapter 365: In Her Domain

Surviving until Clyde arrived in the middle of such a dangerous situation—where Uriel’s warriors had turned into monsters—was far from easy.

At first, Asqa thought she only needed to hide since the corrupted warriors would focus solely on Uriel. However, her assumption was wrong.

The warriors had begun to spread in all directions, no longer solely fixated on Uriel. It was as if they had just realized how terrifying her flames were and decided to avoid her.

As they scattered, Asqa noticed some heading toward the building where the other followers had fled—Uriel’s own residence—and began pounding on the door.

However, others dispersed throughout the domain, and some even turned toward Asqa herself before she could find a place to hide.

Asqa cursed under her breath as two corrupted warriors landed in front of her. Their wings, once pristine white, were now charred and blackened.

Their faces twisted in an eerie combination of pain, rage, and something disturbingly unnatural.

Even though Asqa had spent most of her time training as a scholar in this domain, that didn’t mean she was completely incapable of fighting.

Reaching into her pouch, she grabbed a small, cylindrical object made of green stone, just the size of her palm. Channeling her magic into it, the stone glowed with a bright green light before solidifying into the shape of a dagger.

"I just have to hold out until Clyde gets here!" Asqa steeled herself, determination flaring in her eyes.

The two corrupted warriors lunged at Asqa without hesitation. Their movements were erratic because they were only driven by rage and madness rather than skill. Fortunately, they hadn’t unsheathed their swords, perhaps their warped minds had forgotten they were even armed.

Still, their strength and speed were nothing to underestimate because they were still Uriel’s warriors.

Asqa managed to sidestep the first attack, feeling the rush of air as one of them swiped at her with clawed hands.

She twisted her body, narrowly avoiding the second warrior’s grasp before counterattacking.

With a sharp movement she slashed her green dagger across the closest warrior’s arm. The blade cut deep, but the wound didn’t slow him down. If anything, it only made him more frenzied.

He let out a guttural snarl and swung at her again.

Asqa ducked, rolling away just as the second warrior lunged. The two nearly collided because their movements were too wild and uncoordinated.

She knew she couldn’t rely on them being clumsy forever. If they remembered their swords or if more arrived her chances of survival would drop.

Gritting her teeth, Asqa adjusted her grip on her dagger.

During her time in this domain, Asqa had done more than just study under the scholars. In secret, she had explored Uriel’s storage, searching for anything that could help her become stronger.

That was when she found a scroll tucked away in a storage chamber deep within Uriel’s residence. The text detailed a fire-based technique, likely meant for lower-ranked warriors of this domain.

Though it was far from Uriel’s divine flames, it was still powerful in the right hands.

[Ember Fang], a skill that allowed the user to concentrate fire into their weapon, turning any strike into a burning wound.

Asqa had only practiced it a few times, but now was the perfect moment to test it in real combat.

Gritting her teeth, she focused her magic power into the dagger. The green glow of the weapon flickered, then shifted. Fiery orange embers crackled along the blade’s edge. Heat surged through her arm.

The first corrupted warrior lunged at her again. This time, Asqa didn’t dodge. She stepped forward and slashing across his chest.

The moment the blade met exposed flesh in his armor, the fire ignited, searing through him like molten metal.

The warrior let out a shriek, staggering backward as the flames consumed the wound, spreading pretty quickly because the influence of Uriel’s flame still lingered in their bodies.

His burned wings flared, but it was too late — he crumpled to the ground, writhing as the fire reduced him to ash.

The second warrior hesitated. For a brief moment, the madness in his hollow eyes wavered, as if fear had cut through his rage.

Asqa didn’t give him a chance to react. She rushed forward, twisting her body as she plunged the flaming dagger straight into his heart through the section in his burned armor.

The warrior convulsed, his body stiffening as fire erupted from within. He let out a strangled gasp before collapsing, his charred form motionless.

Asqa exhaled sharply, gripping her dagger tightly. The embers on the blade flickered out.

But her relief lasted only a moment before five more corrupted warriors flew straight toward her.

"Oh, come on!"

Asqa shouted in frustration. This couldn’t get any worse. There was no way she could fight them all—not now. Five was simply too many.

Without wasting another second, she turned and sprinted in the opposite direction. Unfortunately, her devotion and credits still weren’t enough for her to earn wings, meaning she had no way to fly. There was no chance she could outrun them.

She dashed through the grassy fields and flower gardens, no longer caring if she trampled the delicate petals beneath her feet.

Behind her, Uriel was still wreaking havoc, slashing through the air with her flaming sword, divine flames bursting in all directions without restraint. She seemed utterly committed to slaughtering her own warriors.

Asqa had no time to worry about Uriel’s state—her own survival was all that mattered.

One of the corrupted warriors dove toward her, swinging his sword in a deadly arc. This one, it seemed, had regained enough clarity to actually use his weapon.

Asqa jumped at the last second, and instead of slashing across her back, the blade barely grazed her leg. Even so, pain shot through her, sharp and burning.

She let out a groan but quickly raised her green dagger. The warrior had already recovered and was bringing his sword down toward her head in a brutal strike.

A loud clang rang out as metal met metal. The force of the blow sent Asqa stumbling backward, knocking her to the ground.

"Grhh...!" the corrupted warrior snarled, eyes burning with rage.

SWOOOSHH!

A sudden blast of lightning tore through the air, striking the corrupted warrior attacking Asqa directly in the head.

His skull exploded in a burst of light and charred flesh, and his body collapsed lifelessly to the ground.

Before Asqa could even process what had happened another crackling bolt split the sky. It struck the four remaining warriors behind her, sending a blinding flash through the battlefield.

Three of them stopped moving, their bodies twitching violently before falling still. But two managed to withstand the blast, their arms scorched but still functional.

Ignoring the pain, they turned their focus elsewhere — toward the figure approaching from above.

Flying straight toward them was Clyde.

Asqa’s breath hitched. Her eyes widened in shock.

After so long, after only hearing his voice in fleeting moments of telepathic connection, he was finally here.

She could see him cutting through the battlefield like a force of nature.

Clyde’s expression was calm as he unsheathed his Elderglass sword. The crystalline blade gleamed with an eerie translucent glow.

The two warriors lunged at him, but they never stood a chance. With a single precise movement, Clyde slashed through them both.

Their bodies convulsed before splitting apart, lifeless remnants falling toward the ruined earth below.

Clyde landed beside Asqa, his boots pressing into the scorched grass. His gaze immediately swept over her, noting the way she clutched her leg.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

"I’m fine," Asqa muttered, though her face twisted in pain.

Without a word, Clyde reached into his pouch and pulled out a small glass vial filled with shimmering blue liquid.

"Here," he said, handing it to her.

Asqa took the potion, uncorked it, and drank. A cool sensation spread through her body, and within seconds the sharp ache in her leg faded.

She looked down to see the wound sealing itself shut, skin knitting back together as if it had never been injured.

Testing her weight, she stood up, flexing her leg. "That’s better."

Clyde didn’t respond. His focus had shifted to the other side not too far from them where Uriel was still slaughtering her own warriors.

Flames surged from her sword, incinerating anything in her path. Even from this distance, Clyde could feel the heat, but instead of warmth, it sent a chill down his spine.

Could he take her on right now? His hand tightened around the hilt of his Elderglass sword. Maybe. But this wasn’t the time.

"What are you going to do?" Asqa asked, her voice low.

"First, we get out of here," Clyde said.

Clyde took the amulet from around his neck and gripped it tightly in his hand. Channeling his magic power, he focused on opening a portal back to his mansion.

"Clyde!" Asqa’s voice rang out in alarm.

Reacting instantly, Clyde leaped aside just as a flaming sword crashed down behind him, striking the spot where he had been standing moments before.
