Chapter 334: Agatha Appear

Clyde remained seated on the edge of the building for this past few minutes, his boots lightly tapping against the cracked concrete. The mutated dragon’s corpse still smoldered behind him, the scent of burned flesh thick in the air. Blood dripped down from its ruined body and pooling in the crevices of the rooftop.

He glanced down at the city below.

The streets that were so chaotic not now become eerily silent. Hardly any monsters alive remained. The survivors who was lucky enough to have lived through this hell when Clyde passed by were no longer screaming or running for their lives. Instead, they walked with cautious relief, searching for the Checkpoint he had mentioned in his passing.

They were saf because of him.

Clyde sigehd, his fingers drumming against his knee.

All this effort and this destruction. And still, no response from the World Masters?

He had been sure that tearing through this city would be enough to force the World Master’s hand. Had he miscalculated? Was this world’s overseer truly so indifferent? Or perhaps... they simply couldn’t come because of something?

"No, that’s impossible."

He just killed weaklings monsters. The exp gained from these creatures was barely a fraction of what he required. His current level demanded far more than this to grow stronger. But he hadn’t done all this for power.

"So where are they?"

Clyde let out a low sigh and leaned back slightly, propping himself up with one arm. His other hand absentmindedly toyed with a flickering arc of lightning, crackling between his fingers. He still activated his [Pure Lightning] skill until now to repent small creatures that decided to attack him.

Then his instincts flared. Something was coming from behind him.

Even though the portal had yet to open, he can already felt it. The air around him had shifted. A disturbance pulsed through the atmosphere like the moment before a portal opened.

The rooftop concrete beneath him seemed to vibrate, the pressure in the air growing heavier from behind him.

Clyde’s lips curled slightly. Finally.

He rose to his feet, turned, and locked his eyes onto the empty space before him. The fabric of reality trembled. Then the rift began to form.

A vertical tear split through the air. Threads of glowing energy wove along its edges, stretching wider and wider. Beyond it, someone moved.

Agatha stepped out from the portal, her boots clicking softly against the rooftop’s cracked surface. The swirling rift behind her shimmered for a brief moment before collapsing in on itself, and vanish.

She stood with her sharp eyes locked onto Clyde with a serious expression. Unlike the last time they met, there was no smug amusement on her face or smirk playing at her lips. Instead, she looked serious. Even almost wary even.

Clyde said nothing at first and just watching her in silence.

Agatha then sighed and breaking the silence.

"Why are you here?" she asked. She can’t waste anymore time now.

Clyde met her gaze without hesitation.

"I need to meet you," he answered, straight to the point.

Agatha narrowed her eyes.

She studied him for a moment as if assessing whether he was lying or not. Then her gaze flicked to the ruins of the city below, to the scorched remains of the mutated dragon still sprawled behind him.

Her lips pressed into a thin line.

"You tore apart an entire Selection Stage just for that?" she asked, crossing her arms. "Destroyed every monster in sight, disrupted the balance, just so you could meet me?"

"Would you have come if I didn’t?" he asked.

Agatha said nothing because they both knew the answer.

She let out a sharp breath. "You really are a menace, you know that?"

Clyde didn’t respond. He simply waited.

Agatha dropped her hand and fixed him with a more focused look.

"Alright," she said. "You have my attention, Clyde. Tell me what do you want now after you’ve been gone for so long and so suddenly."

"I need to know about the origin of the system," Clyde said.

He watched Agatha’s expression shift. The moment he mentioned the origin of the System she had stiffened. A flicker of unease, caution, maybe even fear, flashed through her face.

Her frown deepened and her jaw tightened. For a few tense seconds, she simply stared at him.

Clyde said nothing. He understood that this was not an easy question to answer. So he gave her time.

When she finally spoke, her voice was measured, but there was a tension beneath it.

"...What do you mean?"

Clyde met her gaze, unflinching.

"I need to know how you created the System," he said. "Was it truly your original creation? Did it come from the Celestials, the Angels, or the Demons? Or maybe... Something else?"

Agatha’s expression remained still, but Clyde could see the gears turning in her mind.

She was weighing her options and choosing her words.

Then, finally, she exhaled.

"We created the System," she said with firm voice.

Clyde didn’t react right away. He simply watched her and waiting. Then he spoke again with sharper tone. "You sure?"

Agatha’s fingers clenched slightly.

"Because something happened to my System after I met with some... entities."

The change in her was instant.

Her eyes widened slightly and filled with sudden intensity.

She took a step closer and talk in soft voice, "Entities?"

Clyde nodded. "Something beyond the usual forces. Not Celestial. Not Demonic. Not Angelic."

Agatha’s lips parted slightly, then pressed back into a thin line. Her gaze flicked downward for the briefest moment before she looked at him again.

"That shouldn’t be possible," she muttered, more to herself than to him.

"Then explain it," Clyde said.

Agatha didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she reached into the inner pocket of her coat, pulling out a small, metallic device. She tapped it once and a faint golden barrier shimmered into existence around them, silencing the world beyond.

Clyde sense that this feels like a barrier to block any sound from coming out. Whatever she was about to say, she didn’t want anyone else to hear.

Agatha took a breath. "This is a huge matter, Clyde. You have to tell me what you saw before I can answer anything."
