Chapter 315: Eye

Clyde watched them while frozen in his place for what felt like an eternity, though only seconds had passed.

He didn’t know what was happening or why he was here. But one thing was certain. This wasn’t a dream.

The air was too heavy, the energy too real. This was happening somewher in this dark unknown realm.

And then there was the long haired Angel.

His presence was overwhelming. But more than that, his words lingered in Clyde’s mind.

The Ancient Ones.

What were they? And why did the mere mention of them send a chill through his bones?

Clyde narrowed his eyes as he hovered then landed beside the long haired Angel. His hand passed straight through the figure’s shoulder like mist. There was no resistance or sensation, only the chilling realization that he was merely a spectator to whatever was happening in front of him right now.

He exhaled slowly, suppressing the irritation bubbling within him. "Fine. If I can’t interfere then I’ll just watch."

The three kneeling figures continued to tremble violently, their bodies jerking in unnatural spasms.

Clyde’s gaze flickered over them and looking at them one by one.

The three figures kneeling, was none other than the three scouts that had been sent here. But Clyde don’t know anything about them.

Kassiel’s wings were now twitching erratically, as though fighting against an unseen force. His mouth was open in a silent scream, his silver eyes now endless pools of black.

Aeralyn’s dusky skin was now marred with cracks of shadow energy, veins of dark corruption pulsing beneath the surface. His once sharp eyes was gone, replaced with a soulless abyss.

Elsa’e her fingers dug into the ground, her body convulsing as she choked on a scream.

They were the scouts the Archangels had sent beyond the veil, tasked with uncovering the secrets beyond the Black Wall but now, they were paying unexpected price.

The long haired Angel watched them with an calm and amused expression. His divine aura remained steady, unaffected by their suffering or the blackness around this place.

Then, he spoke again. "Do not resist."

The moment the words left his lips, the three figures jerked upright as if strings had been pulled taut. Their backs arched violently and for the first time sound tore from their throats.

A wretched, mind-shattering scream.

Clyde flinched. This doesn’t just look like a pain, it was something deeper. Like a scream when of something being unmade from inside their souls.

From the swirling darkness above, something stirred.

A presence then appeared.

A vast, unknowable force began pressing against the realm itself. Clyde can feel it.

The air became more thick, heavy and suffocating. The symbols on the obsidian pillars flared with violent light.

Then, it descended.

From the void, countless black tendrils lashed downward, striking the three kneeling figures. They pierced through flesh, wrapped around their torsos, their necks, their limbs.

Kassiel convulsed, his wings snapping as black corruption spread through them like ink in water. Aeralyn’s body seized as dark sigils burned into his skin. Elsa’s armor cracked apart, exposing the flesh beneath that was already warping.

Clyde’s breath caught in his throat.

They’re changing. Not dying or being destroyed.

They were being claimed by that unknown power.

The long haired Angel simply watched.

Clyde’s eyes then snapped upward onto the swirling mass of darkness looming above. The tendrils that had wrapped around the three figures pulsed as if transfering something toward the three figures with those tendrils. The energy came from something beyond the veil of shadows.

He narrowed his eyes, trying to pierce through the dense writhing blackness.

"What the hell was up there?"

He had to know.

Without hesitation, he launched himself upward, soaring toward the source of the tendrils.

The higher he went, the heavier the air became. It was like gooing through an ocean of pressure.

Clyde gritted his teeth. He had no weapon and no way to defend himself if this thing turned on him, but he didn’t care. He needed answers now.

And then he felt it.

It was the same feeling he had experienced in the Ruins when he facing the Anomaly.

But this was different. Stronger. This was the source of that anomaly.

The realization sent a sharp chill through his spine. Was this what was behind the anomaly that had been spoken to them? Had it been watching him all along?

The deeper he flew, the more the shadows thickened. They coiled around him.

His vision blurred at the edges, his mind teetering on the brink of something that shouldn’t be seen by mortal eyes.

And then, within the depths of the void, something moving.

A single slitted eye snapped open.

A vast, inhuman gaze burned through the darkness, glowing with an eerie, otherworldly light.

The pupil contracted then focusing directly on Clyde.

It saw him.

And for the first time since entering this place—Clyde felt something he hadn’t in a long time.

A deep primal fear.

Clyde plummeted down fast.

The overwhelming force that had gripped him moments ago now stripped him of all strength so leaving his body unresponsive. His limbs refused to move, his mind spiraled, and the darkness swallowed him whole.

He barely registered the impact as he crashed onto the black sand below creating a muffled thud echoed through the place, sending up a small cloud of fine black dust. His body felt weightless, yet heavy at the same time.

Above him, the long-haired Angel frowned, his sharp gaze sweeping over the spot where Clyde had fallen. But he saw nothing.

To him, Clyde did not exist here.

Clyde gasped, trying to move, but his body refused to obey.

And then a voice came.Just like the anomaly, they voice were noot spoken or heard.

It resonated from within his head.

"You are not ready."

A presence accompanied the words. It feels like something ancient and beyond comprehension.

And then he was pulled back.

A force yanked him away from this place.

All of it shattered like glass, breaking apart into fragments of darkness.

Clyde barely had time to scream before his consciousness was ripped away dragged back toward his body.
