Chapter 539: Chapter 539: Did They Quarrel?
Fu Rao?
Chi Yue was about to lose her mind, "Everything was fine, why did you bring up Fu Rao?"
"Why I brought him up, aren’t you the clearest about that?"
As he was about to leave, Chi Yue quickly blocked his path.
"You’re not leaving this door today unless you make things clear."
Fu Rongyin’s eyes darkened, "You..."
A series of urgent rings interrupted him; Chi Yue picked up her phone and pressed the answer button. Before she could speak, Nan Yuan’s anxious voice came through.
"Xiao Yu is giving birth, I’m on a business trip and can’t get back quickly."
Chi Yue’s heart tightened, she grabbed her bag by the entrance and headed out, "I’m on my way."
Nan Bingyu had just reached full term and started labor unexpectedly, Chi Yue couldn’t pretend she wasn’t nervous.
Arriving at the hospital, Fu Hanyan was alone guarding the door to the operating room, looking pale.
Seeing Chi Yue was like seeing her mainstay, "Sister-in-law, Xiao Yu, she..."
"What happened? She was fine during her prenatal checkup a few days ago, there was no sign of labor."
Fu Hanyan’s eyes immediately reddened, "It’s my fault... Lady Fan came to see me yesterday, barely spoke a few words before she wanted to drag me away, Xiao Yu came to help me, and she was pushed onto the sofa, there was no issue last night, but suddenly her water broke just now..."
Fu Hanyan still felt helpless thinking about that scene.
It’s Fan Xuesong again!
Chi Yue hadn’t expected that after Fan Xuesong failed to reach Fu Rongyin, she’d go after Fu Hanyan.
If Fan Xuesong knew Fu Hanyan’s attitude, perhaps she wouldn’t have placed her hopes on her.
But, it might already be too late for all that.
Chi Yue calmed herself down and reassured, "It will be okay, don’t blame yourself."
Fu Rongyin shook his head, "How can it be okay? Nan Yuan trusts me so much, he entrusted Xiao Yu to my care, and yet I still implicated her."
"It’s not your fault, don’t overthink it, don’t punish yourself for someone else’s mistake. Besides, you are her sister-in-law; you’ve done well."
"She’s right, it’s not your fault." A familiar male voice came from behind.
The two turned around, only to find that Fu Rongyin had arrived at some point and was standing behind them.
Chi Yue and he exchanged a glance, and she was the first to look away.
They hadn’t settled their earlier dispute, and it was awkward meeting now.
Fu Rongyin stopped in front of them, but his words were for Fu Hanyan, "We’ll stay here for you, you go back and rest."
"I won’t." Fu Hanyan shook her head, "I’ll leave after Xiao Yu comes out."
Fu Rongyin wanted to say something else, but Chi Yue preempted him, "Go and rest in a room for now, I’ll call you when Xiao Yu is out."
Worried all the way here, Fu Hanyan saw both Fu Rongyin and Chi Yue were there; she nodded her head and went to a room.
The empty corridor was left with just Chi Yue and Fu Rongyin.
She had a lot to say, but looking at the operating room’s door, she ended up saying nothing.
Fu Rongyin just stood by her side, apparently with no intention to speak either.
Fortunately, Nan Bingyu was wheeled out soon after, as Fu Hanyan had just returned from the room, and she was supposed to go see Nan Bingyu, but Chi Yue handed the baby to her.
Fu Hanyan was puzzled.
Chi Yue couldn’t meet her eyes, "You take the child for a checkup, we’ll watch Xiao Yu."
Fu Hanyan glanced at Fu Rongyin, took the baby, and followed the nurse.
After settling Chi Yue down, Fu Hanyan returned with the baby, and it was then that Fu Rongyin suggested leaving.
Chi Yue didn’t react, and it was then Fu Hanyan noticed something off about her, but she said nothing.
After Fu Rongyin left, Fu Hanyan and Chi Yue were busy taking care of Nan Bingyu and the baby. When they finally stopped to rest, it was almost dark.
Fu Hanyan carefully placed the baby in the crib, then sat next to Chi Yue.
"Aren’t you going to hold her?"
Nan Bingyu had a daughter, completing the set of both a boy and a girl.
Chi Yue looked at the stroller, shaking her head.
When the nurse handed the baby to her at the door of the operation room, that long-forgotten feeling came back to her.
She thought now that she got along well with Fu Mianmian, such incidents wouldn’t happen again, but she had overestimated herself.
Seeing that she remained silent, Fu Hanyan asked softly, "Did you have a fight with my brother?"
