Chapter 479: Chapter 479: Lost the Young Man Who Only Had Eyes for Her

"Daddy smells so strong, mommy smells nice."

Fu Rongyin: "..."

After handing over the child to Chi Yue, Fu Rongyin entered the bedroom.

Chi Yue found it funny yet heartbreaking, glanced at the room, and took Fu Mianmian to the balcony to talk sense into her.

By the time Fu Rongyin came out of the room, he had already taken a shower.

Fu Mianmian walked up to him with her head down and said softly, "Daddy, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that just now."

Fu Rongyin looked at her in surprise, then directed his gaze towards Chi Yue.

The latter said, "Mianmian realized her mistake."

Fu Mianmian quickly nodded and reached out her hand, "Daddy hold, Mianmian doesn’t despise Daddy anymore."

Fu Rongyin laughed as he picked her up, suddenly feeling an unprecedented sense of relaxation.

He thought, after this matter was settled, he would take her and her mother out to relax and make up for the time he owed them over the years.

After the two of them put Fu Mianmian to bed, Chi Yue found herself in an awkward situation.

Fu Mianmian slept in the children’s room, which had only a small bed, the master bedroom belonged to Chu Shuo and Leng Siling, and apart from these, there was only one guest room left.

"What, are you afraid to share a room with me?"

Fu Rongyin’s remark pierced her little ulterior motive. She didn’t dare admit it outright and said, "I won’t fight with you over the room. I’ll sleep in the living room."

As she turned around, her wrist was caught, and she was pulled into his embrace.

His body still had a faint smell of disinfectant that was largely masked by the aroma of his shower.

Having been hospitalized for a few days, he had lost quite a bit of weight, and that was only what the eyes could see; who knew how much he had lost where the eyes couldn’t see.

"Go sleep in the room, I can’t do anything to you in this condition."

Chi Yue thought about it and felt she was being overly sensitive, so she agreed.

After taking a shower she went to the bedroom, where Fu Rongyin had already gone to bed, leaving only a lamp on at the head of the bed, his back turned to her space in the bed.

Chi Yue tiptoed over, and just as she lay down, the man turned over and his long arm rested on her waist.

Chi Yue tensed up, whispering, "Haven’t you fallen asleep yet?"

"I’ve slept too much these days."

A moment of silence.

After a long while, when Chi Yue thought he was about to fall asleep, she heard him say, "I never asked you, we never broke up, so what does that make us?"

Chi Yue’s breath hitched.

Indeed.

They had never officially broken up.

The time they had the car accident, and before she was hypnotized, they had only argued, but had never mentioned breaking up.

If one were to be strict about it, they had actually never broken up.

No sooner had this thought emerged in Chi Yue’s mind than Fu Rongyin said, "If you think that we have already broken up, that’s fine too, but I need to carefully consider whether we should get back together."

Chi Yue scrutinized him seriously, and after confirming he wasn’t joking, her expression became somewhat reserved.

Although they had been together during this time, he seemed to have only pursued her to take care of Fu Mianmian and had not mentioned wanting to be with her.

Chi Yue suddenly became very alert, cautiously asking, "Is it that you don’t want to be with me anymore?"

The man’s voice resonated in her ear, "You don’t want to be with me, forcing it won’t bring happiness, so I’ll just follow your wishes."

Chi Yue didn’t speak again.

Fu Rongyin’s last sentence filled her thoughts; she wanted to question him why he didn’t want to force her yet felt perfectly fine lying in the same bed with her?

But she didn’t.

Chi Yue didn’t know when she fell asleep; all she knew was that she dreamt the whole night, dreams filled with Fu Rongyin coaxing, teasing, and cherishing her.

In the end, she even dreamed that Fu Rongyin said goodbye with a smile, telling her to take good care of herself and not to be willful anymore.

She didn’t understand; she hadn’t done anything, so how had she lost that boy whose eyes were always filled with her?

"Chi Yue? Chi Yue?"
