Entangled with My Ex's Uncle -

Chapter 414: Chapter 414: This Time, I Won’t Save You Again
Mrs. Bai Senior saw that Chi Yue was continuously looking upstairs, and she said, "You shouldn’t worry about their matters. Grandma is asking you, is Nan Baixuan really your child?"
Chi Yue thought carefully, but ultimately, she did not nod.
"Miss, if you don’t want to talk, I won’t force you. Your wedding is approaching. If there’s anything, let’s sort it out now."
"I understand, Grandma. I need to return to the office now. When Nan Yuan comes down, please tell him to find me at the office."
Seeing that Chi Yue was still unwilling to speak, she waved her hand, "Go ahead, and if there’s anything, come back. Your uncle and I are always here."
Not long after Chi Yue left, Nan Yuan came down from upstairs.
Mrs. Bai Senior looked at him, "Have you finished talking?"
"Yes, Grandma. Where is Yueyue?"
"She said she had work at the office and went back first."
Nan Yuan acknowledged it and left after saying goodbye.
Mrs. Bai Senior sat for a long time downstairs until finally, Bai Dongyang came down.
Bai Dongyang’s expression was complex and his eyes were bloodshot.
"Mom~"
"Speak, what has Miss Yue been through?"
...
Chi Yue had barely reached the office when Nan Yuan called her, saying he had already informed Bai Dongyang, and Mrs. Bai Senior should know by then as well.
Chi Yue said "Thank you" and then hung up the phone.
Those memories she didn’t want to bring up again; if they cared about her, they surely wouldn’t mention it again.
Before she knew it, it was the day of Situ En’s child’s full month celebration.
Chi Yue brought a gift to the Situ Family, where she saw a group of people surrounding Situ En and Bai Bixuan, but she didn’t approach them.
"Why not go over?"
Beside her, Lu Cheng glanced at the gift in her hand, "Does gift giving also require picking the right time?"
Chi Yue distantly called out "Mr. Lu," not engaging with his statement.
Lu Cheng, as if he hadn’t noticed her indifference, sat down beside her, "It seems like you really don’t like crowds?"
They had met three times, twice at banquets, and both times, she chose to sit in a corner.
Chi Yue nodded, "I’m used to it."
"That habit isn’t so good. Without communicating more with the outside, how will business come your way?"
"My husband is good at communicating. It’s best to leave these things to him."
Lu Cheng raised an eyebrow, his smile meaningful, "You’re talking about Nan Yuan? I was on a business trip recently and saw a woman with him..."
He paused, then added, "She looked a lot like Fu Rongyin’s sister."
Chi Yue looked at him, her expression showing little change, "What are you trying to say?"
"It’s not so much about trying to say anything, just that it’s not something a married man should do. Just a heads-up, that Miss Fu has not just been by his side once or twice."
Chi Yue slightly lowered her gaze, "I understand, thank you for the warning."
She had thought the conversation would end there, but Lu Cheng didn’t seem to intend to leave.
"Miss Chi, if I may ask, do you have plans to find your biological father?"
Chi Yue’s smile gradually faded, "Are you investigating me?"
"To call it investigating sounds too serious, it’s just that you lately made the news with my younger sister, so people are eager to send your information my way."
Chi Yue picked up the gift and stood up, "I have other matters to attend to, Mr. Lu, please enjoy yourself."
With that, she headed toward Situ En and Bai Bixuan.
Bai Bixuan had just come out for her confinement visit and after showing her face, she was sent back to her room by Yin Qiuheng who then called for Chi Yue to accompany her.
Chi Yue watched her gently cuddle the child to sleep, yet she felt reluctant to come any closer.
Finally, after the child was asleep, Bai Bixuan found time to speak with Chi Yue.
"You’re standing so far away, I could almost think I’m some sort of monster."
Chi Yue took two steps back, "You should rest, I won’t stay and bother you any longer. Call me if there’s anything."
Saying so, she went to the backyard.
The main venue for the guests was chosen to be at the front, so the backyard was relatively quieter in comparison.
She crossed the cobblestone path to the lakeside, gazing at the lake, lost in thought.
"You can jump again, but this time, I won’t save you."
