Chapter 381: Chapter 381: With a turn, Fu Rongyin was standing not far away, watching her

They tried to call Nan Yuan, but couldn’t reach him.

Chi Yue dialed Nan Yuan’s number, but it wouldn’t connect, so she sent Nan Yuan a message.

Fortunately, the hospital wasn’t far away. As soon as the car stopped, Chi Yue got out and rushed to the emergency room.

Just as Chi Yue arrived at the entrance of the emergency room, Nan Baixuan was being wheeled out.

Chi Yue rushed over, "Xuanxuan!"

Nan Baixuan had woken up and reached out to hold her hand, "Mommy~"

Bai Dongyang had a grim expression, which grew even longer when he saw Fu Rongyin not far away.

Chi Yue didn’t notice his uneasiness; she asked, "Uncle, did the doctor say what’s wrong?"

Bai Dongyang said, "Let’s go back to the ward; we’ll talk later."

Chi Yue’s whole heart was with Nan Baixuan; she wasn’t thinking of anything else, nor did she notice Fu Rongyin in the corridor.

After settling in the ward, Bai Dongyang called her out.

"What’s the deal with you and Fu Rongyin?"

Chi Yue said, "Our company has a partnership with his, and I had just finished dining with his company’s people when you called. Unable to find a cab, he gave me a ride here."

After hearing her, Bai Dongyang’s face darkened even more, he said, "So you let him come with you? Have you thought about what Nan Yuan will think when he sees him here?"

Chi Yue really hadn’t considered this problem.

After pondering for a moment, she seriously said, "Today was an emergency. I believe Nan Yuan will understand, and I will explain to him."

But Bai Dongyang still thought it was a big problem.

Chi Yue’s attitude made him think that there might still be a chance for Chi Yue and Fu Rongyin to get back together, and perhaps she was keeping something from him. Otherwise, how could a normal person befriend someone who had sent them to jail?

Even a normal interaction seemed impossible.

He wanted to ask more, but when Nan Yuan came over, Bai Dongyang, with words at the tip of his tongue, had to whisper instead, "Take care of it properly; don’t disappoint Grandma."

Chi Yue nodded in agreement.

After Bai Dongyang gave them a few precautionary instructions, he left.

Nan Baixuan didn’t have any serious problems; it was just hypoglycemia because he hadn’t eaten well that day.

Chi Yue breathed a sigh of relief, but Nan Yuan sternly scolded Nan Baixuan.

Nan Baixuan said with a hint of grievance, "You both haven’t eaten with me for a long time, Daddy, Mommy, don’t you want me anymore?"

Nan Yuan and Chi Yue exchanged glances, realizing they had neglected Nan Baixuan’s needs.

After all, he was just a child a little over three years old, in need of his parents’ company, yet they were both absent morning and night.

Nan Yuan’s attitude softened considerably; he consoled Nan Baixuan for a while and promised to spend more time with him. Nan Baixuan, satisfied, fell asleep again.

Knowing that he still had matters to attend to, Chi Yue said, "I’ll stay with him in the hospital tonight, you go ahead and do what you need to do."

Both Nan Yuan and Chi Yue were rational and realistic people. He didn’t say much, simply stating, "I’ll come over after I finish up tonight."

"Okay."

Chi Yue, since the time Nan Baixuan was very little, whenever she was alone with him, something would go wrong, especially late at night, so Nan Yuan left without delay.

The project was nearing its conclusion; he just needed to sign a contract now.

Chi Yue wasn’t as worried as Nan Yuan; she was quite confident in herself now.

Recalling she hadn’t yet reassured the old lady, she tiptoed to the door and dialed Grandma’s number, informing her of the situation here.

Upon learning that Nan Baixuan was alright, Grandma gave a few words of advice and then hung up.

Chi Yue put away her phone, turned around, and Fu Rongyin was standing there, not far off, looking at her.

Considering he had helped her, Chi Yue walked over and said, "Thanks for what you did earlier."

"Whose child is he?"

Fu Rongyin’s eyes lacked any ripple of emotion; his face was very calm, as if he was inquiring about something as mundane as the weather.
