Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Chi Yue, There’s No Next Time
She didn’t know how long she had been standing in the living room when she heard the sound of the door handle turning behind her.
She did not turn around.
A moment later, a warm embrace enveloped her from behind, followed by his helpless sigh, "Chi Yue, you really know how to keep me on a tight leash."
Chi Yue still didn’t move.
Fu Rongyin turned her around, and the next second, his handsome, furrowed eyebrows twisted tightly.
Her eyebrows were slightly red and her eyes swollen, tears silently streaming down her face.
It was when he embraced her that Chi Yue couldn’t hold back any longer; she felt that such behavior was too melodramatic, but now she couldn’t care about anything else.
His rough fingertips clumsily wiped her tears away, but the more he wiped, the fiercer her tears fell.
Fu Rongyin frowned as if facing a huge dilemma.
After a long while, he sighed again and, holding her face, threatened, "Why are you crying? You didn’t cry like this in bed."
Chi Yue stared at him blankly, almost doubting her own ears.
A warm touch on her lips caused Chi Yue’s mind to freeze completely.
Wasn’t he supposed to be comforting her now?
Soon, Chi Yue was unable to think straight, placed on the sofa, mumbling, and even forgot to cry.
After everything ended, Chi Yue cuddled in his arms, sleeping sweetly.
When she woke up, she saw a wall in front of her and was confused for a long while before she realized what had happened.
Having recognized her feelings, she was not so resistant anymore and simply closed her eyes again, pretending to sleep.
A man’s low, enchanting voice came from above, "How long do you plan to sleep?"
Chi Yue didn’t move.
The man lifted her chin and kissed her again.
Just when she was about to not be able to pretend anymore, Fu Rongyin suddenly let her go and half-threatened, "Chi Yue, there won’t be a next time."
Chi Yue finally opened her eyes, her gaze bewildered, "What are you talking about?"
The man’s gaze was intense, "This is the last time I’ll mention breaking up."
Chi Yue looked down, "We aren’t even together right now, so separating wouldn’t be breaking up."
"Hmm?"
Chi Yue sensed danger, scrambled off the bed, and headed to the kitchen.
A cup of cold water calmed her down considerably.
As she was about to drink a second cup, a large hand took her cup away; she turned around and saw Fu Rongyin standing behind her, wrapped only in a towel.
Unable to face the scratches on his body, she walked toward the bedroom.
"What are you going to do now?"
"Take a shower."
Fu Rongyin glanced at her silhouette only covered by his shirt and her long, bare legs, withdrew his gaze, gulped down the glass of ice water in his hand, and followed her into the bathroom.
Their relationship seemed to return to how it had been before, as if nothing had changed, and yet everything was different.
Chi Yue didn’t fuss over trivial matters. Since everything had already happened, she decided to let things take their course.
She learned from Nan Yuan that the Situ family was recently unsettled; Situ Wei’an begged Yin Qiuheng not to send her away. After discussion, Yin Qiuheng and Situ Mingfan decided to give her another chance.
Chi Yue had no opinion on this, because she knew that although Bai Bixuan had become much more restrained, she was more than capable of handling Situ Wei’an without suffering any loss.
As matters here settled down, Nan Yuan also prepared to leave.
The day before his departure, Nan Yuan invited Chi Yue out to dinner; neither noticed someone was following them until Fu Rongyin called.
"Where are you?"
Chi Yue said, "Nan Yuan is leaving tomorrow, I’m having dinner with him."
Fu Rongyin suddenly said, "He might not be able to leave."
