Chi Yue was cooking in the kitchen, while Chu Shuo stayed in the living room.

Her cellphone was on the coffee table, and when the ringtone sounded, Chu Shuo called out to her. She might not have heard him because the kitchen door was closed.

Chu Shuo glanced at the caller ID and pressed the answer button.

The voice of Fu Rongyin came from the speaker, "I’ll come home for dinner tonight."

Chu Shuo chuckled, "Then you’d better hurry back, she’s cooking."

The other end of the phone went silent immediately.

Chu Shuo raised an eyebrow, "Why the silence?"

Fu Rongyin, unable to distinguish between joy and anger, replied, "Don’t touch her."

"You’re overthinking it, I’m just mooching a meal at her place."

Fu Rongyin didn’t say anything else and hung up the phone.

Chu Shuo put the phone back and continued playing with his cell.

Chi Yue finished cooking and came out, with Chu Shuo immediately standing up, "Need help?"

"Could you help me bring out the dishes?"

"Okay."

The two entered the kitchen together, each carrying two dishes out, when they suddenly saw someone standing in the entrance hall; Chi Yue abruptly froze.

Chu Shuo saw it too but casually said, "You really have a knack for showing up at the right time. Yueyue, you might need to set an extra bowl."

Chi Yue was rooted to the spot, unable to move until Fu Rongyin walked up to her and took the dishes from her hands.

"Come on, let’s eat," he said, moving her towards the dining area.

Chi Yue was forcibly brought to the dining table and, under Fu Rongyin’s arrangement, she sat opposite Chu Shuo, while he went to wash his hands and then sat next to her.

The meal passed without incident, while Chu Shuo chatted sporadically with Fu Rongyin, who hardly responded even after five sentences.

Chu Shuo didn’t care, and left after finishing his meal.

Chi Yue still sat next to Fu Rongyin, too scared to move.

"What are you nervous about?"

Chi Yue stood up and walked towards the kitchen, "I... I’ll wash the dishes."

Fu Rongyin didn’t stop her, but as she entered the kitchen, he walked out.

Chu Shuo was standing at the doorway, seen him come, he smiled, "I knew you would come, but Fu Rongyin, you’re quite petty, can’t even handle a meal?"

Fu Rongyin grabbed his clothes and pulled him into the corridor, then swung a punch.

Chu Shuo took the punch stoically, still unaware of his own fault, "Are you embarrassed? Or afraid I’ll expose your secret with her?"

Fu Rongyin pushed him into a corner with immense force and threw another punch.

A muffled groan from Chu Shuo echoed in the corridor.

Fu Rongyin finally calmed down, but his gaze remained as stern as ever.

"Didn’t I tell you to stay abroad for three years before coming back?"

Chu Shuo wiped the blood from his mouth, "Is it such a big deal that I came back early? No need to get so worked up."

Fu Rongyin scoffed, "If you had stayed far away, I could have turned a blind eye, but if you continue to bother her, I will expose everything you’ve done!"

Chu Shuo, leaning against the wall, tried to stand up, failed, and chose to sit down on the floor.

"I’ve been gone for so long, why haven’t you cleaned up that mess? What exactly are you doing, Fu Rongyin?"

"It’s none of your business."

"Ha, I can take your punches. But if you think I’m moving out, that’s impossible."

Fu Rongyin’s eyes suddenly grew colder.

Chu Shuo, unable to restrain himself, rolled his eyes, "That illegitimate child has been making my life hell, you don’t think I’m going to just accept it, do you? At the very least, I was her ex-husband, not exactly a cuckold, but imagining you ruining me using this is another matter."

He paused, then added, "Staying here, at least I can keep an eye on her for you."

Fu Rongyin was about to say something when he heard footsteps outside.
