Chapter 268: Chapter 268: Asking for Help Requires the Right Attitude
Chi Yue sensed a burning gaze fixed on her, so intense that it was difficult to ignore.
Nan Yuan said, "Let’s talk when we get back."
A few of them walked towards the parking lot; Nan Bingyu and Situ En got into the same car, and Nan Yuan also got into Nan Bingyu’s car.
Just as Nan Yuan was reaching out to Chi Yue, Fu Rongyin suddenly pulled Chi Yue away and embraced her as they got into his car.
"Fu Rongyin, do you think there isn’t enough gossip already?" Nan Yuan shouted angrily.
Fu Rongyin ignored his words, pushed Chi Yue into the passenger seat, got into the driver’s seat himself, and quickly drove away.
Throughout the ordeal, Chi Yue didn’t utter a sound.
She knew very clearly that if Fu Rongyin were to investigate the matter, it would be more efficient.
She sent Nan Yuan a message, telling him not to follow and that she would contact them later.
After sending the message and putting away her phone, she heard Fu Rongyin say coldly, "If you can’t bear to leave him, you can get out of the car now."
Clearly, he understood what was on her mind.
Chi Yue replied calmly, "This is the highway; stopping is not allowed."
Fu Rongyin said no more.
When they returned to No.1 Bay, Fu Rongyin left her alone in the living room and went into the master bedroom.
Chi Yue waited in the living room for a long time without seeing anyone come out, so she walked in and found Fu Rongyin sitting at the edge of the bed treating his wounds.
Seeing her enter, he did not hide and continued treating his wounds.
It was the first time since his injury that Chi Yue saw his knee.
There was a scar on his knee, a mark left from surgery, and he frowned in displeasure as he applied ointment.
"Let me do it."
As soon as she finished speaking, she was already kneeling in front of him, took the cotton swab from his hand, and carefully began applying the medicine. She gently blew air when she saw his knee moving.
The warm breath on the wound seemed to lessen the burning sensation.
It also dispelled some of Fu Rongyin’s anger.
He watched her unblinkingly, "Being so patient, are you afraid I will settle scores after autumn?"
Chi Yue focused on applying the medicine, not lifting her eyelids once.
"With your intelligence, how could you not guess that I was framed."
"Even if you were framed, the fact that you were in bed with him is true," he retorted.
Chi Yue stopped, her clear eyes striking, "I can prove it."
Fu Rongyin smirked, "How do you plan to prove it?"
Chi Yue glanced at his knee, "If it’s inconvenient for you, I can get on top."
Upon hearing this, Fu Rongyin looked at her as if he wanted to devour her.
After a long while, he said, "Tell me about last night again." He paused, then added, "Don’t leave out any details."
Chi Yue: "Okay."
Chi Yue started from yesterday morning; when she mentioned Fu Hanyan and Nan Yuan, Fu Rongyin’s expression became dangerous.
Chi Yue stopped, "Should I continue?"
"Continue!"
Chi Yue continued.
This time, he did not interrupt her until she finished, then he coldly said, "It was indeed him."
Chi Yue: "Who?"
Fu Rongyin didn’t answer. He looked at the bandaged knee, got up, and said, "You’ll stay here these few days; don’t go out if it’s not necessary."
Chi Yue complied, asking no questions.
After Fu Rongyin left, Chi Yue called Nan Bingyu.
Nan Bingyu said she had found a surveillance camera that could capture their tents, but the camera was broken last night.
Hearing this, Chi Yue showed little emotion, only mentioning she would find a way.
Nan Bingyu asked if Fu Rongyin had made things difficult for her, she said no, and Nan Bingyu, relieved, promised to expose the person behind everything.
After hanging up, Chi Yue checked the time; it was almost noon.
She sent a message to Fu Rongyin: [Are you coming back for lunch?]
The message sank like a stone in the sea, with no reply.
Chi Yue didn’t sit idle, she took out all the ingredients she could find in the fridge and dove into cooking in the kitchen.
Meanwhile, in the CEO office of the Fu Building.
Fu Rongyin watched the busy figure on the display, a touch of relief coloring his features.
One should have the demeanor of a petitioner; he indeed wanted to see the lengths she would go to expose the person behind it all.
