That night, Fu Rongyin came home very late. Stepping out of the elevator, he saw a graceful figure leaning against his front door.

He walked over without a sound, "Why didn’t you go in?"

Chi Yue held a shopping bag in her hand, "Given our relationship, I don’t have a good enough excuse to enter your home uninvited."

Fu Rongyin opened the door and took the groceries from her hand to the kitchen, "What would you like to eat tonight?"

"I’m not hungry."

Fu Rongyin did not ask her again, and soon, the kitchen was filled with a delightful aroma.

Chi Yue glanced at the kitchen, then entered the master bedroom.

She started rummaging through drawers and searched all possible hiding spots, eventually standing by the bed with a frown.

The photo was gone, not here. Could it have been lost somewhere else?

Before she could figure it out, Fu Rongyin had already appeared at the doorway of the master bedroom.

"Come and eat something."

Chi Yue had no choice but to stop and thought about finding the right moment to ask him.

After the meal, she took the initiative to wash the dishes, figuring out how to bring up the topic without seeming abrupt.

She had forgotten about the photo yesterday and hadn’t mentioned it to him; Fu Rongyin might not even be aware of the photo’s existence. If she brought it up out of the blue, he might not understand what she was talking about.

As she was thinking this, a man’s voice came from outside, "How much longer are you going to wash?"

Chi Yue snapped back to reality, realizing she had been rinsing the same two large plates under the tap for several minutes.

She turned off the water, arranged the dishes properly, and walked out.

As she passed by Fu Rongyin, he swept her up and carried her back into the kitchen.

Chi Yue instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, "What are you doing?"

"Since you like it here so much, let’s try it here," he suggested.

Chi Yue was shocked, "You’re crazy! Here..."

Chi Yue had never quite understood what kind of man Fu Rongyin really was.

In front of others, he always appeared indifferent and unapproachable, but in front of her, he turned into an insatiable wolf.

Yet she couldn’t deny that the two of them were compatible in every aspect.

She had never been with another man, so she didn’t know whether to consider it perfect.

For the next few days, she lived the same routine, until the morning of the eighth day.

Chi Yue woke up earlier than usual, got herself ready, and unusually made breakfast, waiting for him to get up.

Fu Rongyin came out of the room to see Chi Yue sitting on the sofa.

Chi Yue also saw him and said, "I made breakfast, have some before anything else."

Fu Rongyin saw there was only one serving.

Chi Yue explained, "I’ve already eaten."

Fu Rongyin gave her a deep look, then walked to the dining table and began to eat slowly, as if he were trying to buy time.

Chi Yue was patient because she knew he couldn’t keep eating forever.

Finally, Fu Rongyin put down his utensils.

"You can speak now."

Chi Yue said, "The car accident, what does it have to do with my mother?"

Fu Rongyin smiled lightly, "You’re still as persistent as ever, just like before. If I slightly went against your wishes, you would disappear from my life."

Chi Yue frowned, feeling that in his words, she was someone who had betrayed him.

She didn’t dwell on that point but continued with her previous question, "The seven-day deadline is up. I trust you’re a man of your word."

"I hope you won’t regret this."

"No regrets."

Fu Rongyin stepped into the study, took a voice recorder from there, and handed it to her.

"This is the recording of your mother bribing the perpetrator."

"Impossible! My mother would never do such a thing!"

Fu Rongyin, without further explanation, said, "You should listen to it when you get back. I need to go to work now."

Walking to the entrance, he turned back, "Need a ride?"

"Thanks, but I don’t need one."

Chi Yue and Fu Rongyin went downstairs together, and the two parted ways at the bottom.

Chi Yue hailed a cab, gave her apartment address, and stared blankly at the voice recorder after boarding, completely unaware of the car trailing behind her.
