Fu Rongyin’s voice on the other end of the phone was terrifyingly deep, "Are you sure it was the two of them who met and even had a pleasant conversation?"

Chi Yue felt a chill down her spine.

Even if she were foolish, she knew Fu Rongyin was investigating her, especially after the drastic change in her attitude within one day; anyone not blind could tell something was amiss.

The sound in the living room abruptly stopped, and Chi Yue quickly closed the door and dove into her bed.

In the darkness, the door opened, and she heard footsteps approaching, stopping right in front of her bed.

Chi Yue’s hands under the blanket clutched the bedding tightly, fearing that she might accidentally give herself away.

However, the anticipated confrontation did not happen. Fu Rongyin just stood by the bed for a while before leaving.

Hearing the sound of the main door closing, Chi Yue let out a deep sigh of relief.

It was good that he left; at least she didn’t have to pretend anymore. Although she was loath to admit it, the hollow feeling deep inside was undeniable.

In the following days, Chi Yue repeated the same routine.

Fu Rongyin’s mood had been quite stable these few days. During this period, Chi Yue secretly called Xu Zhenwen twice, assuring that his condition at the company was improving day by day.

If this continued, she could leave for good before long.

But Chi Yue always felt that it wasn’t that simple, especially when Fu Rongyin stared at her intently.

However, she was too eager to leave and subconsciously chose to ignore these subtle signs.

Half a month passed in a blink, and Fu Rongyin’s condition seemed to have stabilized. It was also on this day that Chi Yue received a call from Xu Zhenwen, who said she would arrange for her to leave in three days.

That day, Chi Yue invited Nan Bingyu out for a meal.

Nan Bingyu was unaware that it was a farewell meal and brought Xi Yihang along.

"Yueyue, you’re really incredible! If it weren’t for me taking over your company, I wouldn’t have known you were such a wealthy woman! As soon as you break free from Fu Rong, you must come back quickly. Being rich is truly amazing, but it’s also genuinely exhausting."

Chi Yue grinned, "Being the boss isn’t so easy; you can struggle on my behalf for a few years."

Upon hearing this, Nan Bingyu collapsed into Xi Yihang’s arms, "Oh no, I’ve walked into a den of wolves."

Xi Yihang smiled silently, his face full of adoration.

The two joked back and forth, and the atmosphere was quite relaxed.

Suddenly, Chi Yue said, "In a few days, I’ll be able to leave."

The air suddenly grew silent.

Nan Bingyu sobered up and sat up straight, "Have you decided?"

Chi Yue had previously confided to Nan Bingyu about her collaboration with Xu Zhenwen, so Nan Bingyu knew the reason she stayed. But now that the day was upon her, she still felt reluctant to let go.

"I’ve decided, three days from now, and don’t come to see me off."

Nan Bingyu fell silent.

After a while, she said, "Call me when you’re settled."

"Yes."

"Miss Chi," Xi Yihang suddenly called her, "there’s something I can’t figure out, can you enlighten me?"

Both women turned towards him.

Xi Yihang cupped her chin intending to kiss her but was ruthlessly pushed away by Nan Bingyu.

"Then Yueyue, have a safe journey."

"Yes, I’ll let you know when I’m safe."

The night before she left, Chi Yue was more proactive than usual.

In the heat of the moment, she wrapped her arms around his waist and gently reminded, "You have a meeting tomorrow, try to sleep early."

Fu Rongyin actually heeded her advice, but he held her even tighter as they slept.

Chi Yue lay in his arms, eyes wide open all night. The next morning, they parted as usual.

Once she was sure Fu Rongyin wouldn’t return, Chi Yue called Xu Zhenwen, learned that the person she sent was waiting at the back door, grabbed her important documents, and left.

The journey went smoothly, and so did changing her boarding pass.

But she could never have expected to see Fu Rongyin at the airport.

And standing next to Fu Rongyin was a woman.

The woman’s smile was radiant. Once Chi Yue saw her face clearly, her blood began to run cold.
