Chapter 153: Chapter 153: No Matter How Good, It’s Just a Stand-In

Chi Yue didn’t know how she had managed to return to No.1 Bay, all she knew was that ever since she had listened to Gu Qingyu’s words, only one sentence kept echoing in her mind: "He also has that woman’s organ in his body."

So, what past did he still have that she didn’t know about?

Her mind was a complete mess, as she sat motionless on the sofa.

She didn’t know how much time had passed when she heard some noise at the entrance. She couldn’t help but look over.

Fu Rongyin looked the same as always, no significant changes, except that his eyes held a few traces of an emotion she couldn’t understand when he looked at her.

For some reason, Chi Yue suddenly mustered up the courage to speak, "Fu Rongyin, the words you said last time about wanting me to leave, do they still count?"

Fu Rongyin looked at her.

She said, "Last time, you told me to leave this place and never come back. I didn’t agree then, but now I’ve figured it out. I’m willing to leave."

Fu Rongyin just stared at her, "What did Gu Qingyu tell you?"

"Nothing much, just suddenly figured it out."

"What if I say no?" The man’s voice betrayed no change in emotion.

Chi Yue pondered for a moment, "If I really want to go, you won’t be able to stop me."

Fu Rongyin: "You want to leave because I can’t marry you?"

"Being with you was never about marriage for me."

"Chi Yue, have you fallen in love with me?"

As soon as these words were spoken, the house fell instantly quiet—so quiet that Chi Yue could hear her own heartbeat clearly.

She couldn’t find the words to speak for a long time.

This was a term utterly foreign to her, yet it had come from his lips.

How could she possibly love him? Between them, the conditions for generating such a feeling didn’t exist.

But the next second, Fu Rongyin’s merciless voice came through, "Don’t fall in love with me. Even if you have, it’s destined to be without an ending."

Chi Yue had wanted to say she couldn’t possibly fall in love with him, but his words worked like a curse, making it impossible for her to utter a denial.

After a long while, she said, "Let me go, please. I can leave tomorrow."

Fu Rongyin headed towards the master bedroom, "Don’t think too much, just sleep."

The living room went quiet once more. Chi Yue didn’t know how long she had been standing until she picked up her bag and walked out.

"If you walk out that door, believe me, you won’t just be unable to leave, but even your mother’s legacy won’t be secure."

Chi Yue froze.

"Chi Yue, don’t test my limits. What’s so bad about staying by my side?"

Fu Rongyin had somehow moved into the living room, standing not too far behind her.

Chi Yue stared at the doorknob, "However good it is, I am nothing but a substitute."

Her arm was grabbed, and the force felt as though it might crush her hand, yet she didn’t even blink.

It was impossible to tell how much time had passed when the grip on her arm gradually loosened, followed by the man’s voice, tinged with unwillingness, "Chi Yue, do you really not remember anything?"

Chi Yue: "What are you referring to?"

"It’s you who provoked me."

That was the case in high school, and it’s the same now.

However, Chi Yue thought Fu Rongyin was referring to the day before Fu Rao’s wedding, and she said, "Yes, it was me who provoked you first, and now I regret it. If I were given another chance, I definitely wouldn’t provoke you."

Absolutely not!

But it was unclear which of her words had triggered Fu Rongyin as he pressed her against the foyer, showing no tenderness.

Chi Yue clenched her teeth the whole time.

It was indeterminable how long it was before Chi Yue lay on the sofa, her gaze empty, faintly hearing the sound of water from the bathroom. She put on her clothes and left.

Fu Rongyin came out of the bathroom, intending to carry her to the room, but she was already gone.

He scowled and was about to make a phone call when his peripheral vision caught sight of her bag still on the sofa.

The bag was open, her phone not in sight, but Fu Rongyin found a box.

He took out the box and upon inspecting it, a storm brewed in the depths of his dark eyes.
