Entangled with My Ex's Uncle
Chapter 124 Leaving

Chapter 124: Chapter 124 Leaving

"Could it be that they really plan to get married? Yesterday, my mom mentioned she ran into Ms. Xu and the Gu family’s parents having dinner. Considering what you’ve said, it really could be possible."

Chi Yue did not react much, "I’ll ask about it later."

Nan Bingyu felt indescribable, "Don’t you feel anything at all?"

"To say I feel much would be untrue."

She knew this would happen even before she got together with Fu Rongyin; she was bound to leave, sooner or later, and who the other party was did not matter much to her.

Nan Bingyu had worried several times that Chi Yue could not handle it, but seeing her attitude like this, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Nan Bingyu had originally planned to stay for a meal but had to go home first after receiving a call from her family on the way.

In the afternoon, Chi Yue received a call from Xu Zhenwen, who was downstairs at her house.

Chi Yue went downstairs and saw Xu Zhenwen sitting in the business car.

She did not intend to get out of the car.

Chi Yue stood about two meters in front of the car, waiting for her to speak.

Xu Zhenwen was not in a hurry to speak; she thought Chi Yue would lose patience and confront her, but she was wrong.

After standing for about three minutes, Xu Zhenwen finally spoke.

"Ah Yin already has someone else; they are trying out marriage. Do you know what you should do now?"

Chi Yue stood straight, "I don’t know."

Had Xu Zhenwen and Chi Yue not talked twice before this, Xu Zhenwen would certainly have been angered again now.

She then spoke in a softened voice, "Is it that only if Ah Yin personally tells you to break up would you let go?"

"Naturally."

"Well then, I hope you keep your word."

Xu Zhenwen sat back down and said to the driver, "Let’s go, they’ve been waiting a long time."

As she was closing the door, Xu Zhenwen turned back to Chi Yue and said, "Ah Yin will be quite busy these days; if it’s nothing important, try not to bother him."

Chi Yue watched as she left.

Only when her car had driven far away did Chi Yue withdraw her gaze.

Her phone beeped with some new messages, Chi Yue opened it and saw two photos and a video.

In the photos, Fu Rongyin was tenderly serving food to a woman, and in the video, Fu Rongyin and the woman entered their new home, one behind the other, as someone said, "This is your new home. If there’s anything unsatisfactory, speak up, I..."

Chi Yue put away her phone, her serene face unrippled.

She returned home and calmly packed.

She hadn’t brought much from the Chi family’s house, so she only packed the essentials.

Just before she left, Chi Yue left her keys in the vestibule.

The Bai family lived in Hai City, and strictly speaking, Chi Yue hadn’t been to Hai City in almost twenty years.

The moment the plane landed, she took a deep breath, hailed a taxi, and gave the driver the Bai family’s address.

The taxi driver, being hospitable, noticed she was from out of town and couldn’t help asking, "Miss, has it been a long time since you’ve been to Hai City?"

Chi Yue just hummed affirmatively.

The driver nodded in realization, "That explains it then. The Bai family moved out a long time ago, they aren’t at the address you mentioned."

Chi Yue paused, "When did that happen?"

"Oh, several years back. After the old man passed away, they moved his wife to a nursing home and left. Now, nobody lives in their old house anymore."

Chi Yue’s mind was suddenly a tumult of emotions.

After a long silence, she asked, "Do you know which nursing home the elderly lady is in?"

"Of course, the Bai family’s business isn’t a secret here in Hai City. If you want, I can take you there."

"Please do, thank you."

Twenty years ago, Bai Qing had brought her, then just with a budding memory, back to Hai City after a dispute with her uncle who had maliciously twisted the truth to their grandfather. In a fit of anger, their grandfather had barred Bai Qing and even proclaimed he would sever ties with her.

Later, when the grandfather learned the truth, he never apologized to Bai Qing. Twenty years had passed since then, and that was also why Bai Qing, even when she was diagnosed with cancer, did not inform the Bai family.

After Bai Qing’s death, Chi Yue had meant to visit this place, but it kept being postponed until now.

The car stopped at the nursing home, and Bai Qing dragged her suitcase inside.

She found a caregiver and asked for Mrs. Bai Senior’s room number, then made her way there.

But when she actually reached the door, Chi Yue hesitated.

Just as she was debating whether to enter, the door was opened from inside.
