Chapter 97: Chapter 97 I feel so terrible I’m about to die
Yolanda sat there and directly threw the coffee in front of her.
"Yolanda! Aaaaah..." Melissa Greenwood went crazy instantly, rising to pounce, "I’m not finished with you!!!"
However, before she could touch Yolanda, her hair was grabbed by Lola Gold.
"Are you shameless or what?" Lola Gold gritted her teeth, "Acting shameless right in front of me? Like a toad jumping into boiling water, you’re asking for trouble."
"Aaaaah... let me go, you were Christopher Coldson’s lover, dare to admit it?" Melissa challenged defiantly.
Lola immediately applied more force, and only when she heard Melissa’s painful cries did she feel a bit better.
"Melissa, your thick skin really is an eye-opener, even if I’m shameless, I don’t compare to you, hogging Yolanda’s parents’ place and not returning it. Are your own parents dead or what?"
Melissa was stumped, realizing she was no match for Lola, and immediately turned to Yolanda.
"Yolanda, make Lola let go right now, or else, I won’t spare Gemma Morgan."
"Do you want to die, huh?" Lola tightened her grip, almost pulling Melissa’s scalp off, "Try touching Aunt Morgan and see, I’ll show you how many eyes Hades has."
"Lola, let go," Yolanda said as more and more onlookers gathered, not wanting to escalate the situation further.
Lola flung Melissa aside, who fell to the ground in a sorry state.
"Listen well, Melissa," Yolanda approached, looking down on her, "You can threaten me with my mom over and over again, but you better pray she lives a long, healthy life because otherwise, it’ll be time for us to settle our accounts."
She turned and took Lola by the hand, "Let’s go."
"Pfft!" Lola waved her fist and left with Yolanda.
"Going back?" Once out of the western restaurant, Yolanda looked at Lola with concern, "We haven’t had a proper meal again today, shall we order takeout on the way back?"
"Sure, I feel like drinking, hehe... to celebrate a little!" Lola forced a smile.
"Okay," Yolanda didn’t call her out, "Drink as much as you want, I’ll join you, till we’re drunk."
"That’s not happening, just watch me drink," Lola hailed a cab, and after getting in, she just stared out of the window without speaking.
Yolanda held Lola’s hand the entire ride, not disturbing her.
She had guessed before that Lola might have developed inappropriate feelings for Christopher Coldson, and now, she was almost certain of it.
But their social statuses were worlds apart, and that bastard Christopher only saw Lola as a substitute, meaning Lola was bound to be hurt.
When they got back to their place, the takeout had just arrived, and Lola insisted on carrying everything.
"As they say, a woman gets to be Empress Dowager for only ten months in her life, so Yolanda, just relax and enjoy the service of your slave."
Yolanda shook her head with a smile, thankful that the order wasn’t large, and decided to indulge Lola.
After they arranged everything, Lola couldn’t wait to pour herself a drink.
"To the first drink, thanks to Yolanda. Living in such a large house, it’s the pinnacle of life, all because of you!" she said and downed it in one gulp.
"Lola, slow down," Yolanda said, feeling very distressed.
Lola immediately poured another for herself.
"The second drink, to celebrate Yolanda’s promotion to Empress Dowager, and to welcome the two little ones to this messed-up world," and she downed it again.
"Lola!"
"Don’t stop me, I’m happy today." Lola poured herself a third drink straight away.
"This third one, for myself. That scumbag Christopher Coldson is actually getting engaged, to celebrate my escape from misery, no longer having to be some stand-in lover."
As she spoke the last few words, her voice choked,
Another glass went down.
"Lola," Yolanda caught Lola Gold’s hand as she was about to pour another drink, "Stop drinking, have some food."
"It’s fine, don’t you know my alcohol tolerance?" Lola Gold struggled free of Yolanda’s grasp, "This is nothing to me."
"Lola!" Yolanda used both hands, "If you want to cry, just cry. Letting it out will make you feel a little better."
"Why would I want to cry?" Lola Gold laughed with red eyes, muttering to herself, "I’m too happy to even start."
"Lola..." Yolanda could no longer speak, as tear after tear fell down.
"Silly girl," Lola Gold sniffled and reached out to wipe Yolanda’s tears, "Why are you crying? You should be happy, and if not both of us, at least one of us should be, right?"
Yolanda bit her lip and shook her head vigorously, "No, both of us should be happy."
Lola Gold let out a bitter laugh, staring at Yolanda with wide eyes as the tears suddenly began to fall.
"If you won’t let me get drunk, how can I be happy?"
Yolanda could no longer bear it and stood up to pull Lola Gold into a hug, "Lola, don’t be sad. You’re so wonderful, a better person will come to love you. Forget about that bastard Christopher Coldson."
"Forget?" Lola Gold stared blankly without any reaction, mechanically repeating to herself, "If forgetting was as simple as saying it, would you still be entangled with Cooper Coldson for so long?"
How could she forget?
All those days and nights she spent with Christopher Coldson had shown her another side of the world.
All those times of forgetting life itself in death-defying passion were trembles and peaks Lola Gold had never experienced before.
From beginning to end, what Christopher Coldson gave her were things she never had and would probably never have again.
She asked Yolanda with self-mockery, "Yolanda, I used to hear that a woman’s vagina leads to her heart, and I didn’t believe it. But now... do you think I was just born a whore?"
"Lola, I won’t allow you to think of yourself that way." Yolanda let go of her, looking into her eyes seriously, "Lola, listen to me. It’s not your fault that you fell in love with Christopher Coldson, it’s that bastard Christopher Coldson’s fault."
"A stand-in? That’s ridiculous! Isn’t that just a plot from novels?"
"So, every time Christopher Coldson faced me, he was thinking of another woman in his mind."
"But if all he wanted was this face, then why couldn’t it be me?"
Lola Gold finally couldn’t control her emotions any longer and began to sob loudly, clinging to Yolanda, "Yolanda, I really feel awful, I feel like I’m dying."
"It’s okay, it’s okay!" Yolanda gently patted Lola Gold’s back.
At this point, all she could do was curse Christopher Coldson, that big bastard in her heart for fooling a girl’s sincerity with money.
He must face retribution!
And then she quickly thought of Cooper Coldson.
In retrospect, Cooper Coldson’s reaction that day was indeed very strange. When he learned about the relationship between Christopher Coldson and Lola Gold, he must have known that Lola Gold was just a stand-in, but he said nothing.
Cold-hearted, ruthless!
The lofty members of the Coldson Family always treated the sincerity of others as nothing.
They will regret it! Surely!
"Yolanda, I want to see him one more time! Just one last time!"
