Chapter 61: Chapter 61 This is the last time I’m asking you
Yolanda kept looking towards the door.
Was there someone standing there that she hadn’t seen?
Seeing her like this, Cooper silently gritted his teeth and struggled to speak again.
"Haven’t you not eaten dinner? Come and eat."
Yolanda was so shocked that she was speechless, pointing at herself with her finger.
"Eat it or not." Cooper, holding his change of clothes, went to take a shower.
Yolanda still couldn’t believe it; it seemed more incredible than the sun rising from the west.
She went over it several times in bed, confirming that the bowl of noodles was indeed brought to her by Cooper before she cautiously got out of bed.
She even feared that any sudden movement might reveal that it was all a dream.
Smelling the fresh aroma of the noodles, Yolanda’s stomach embarrassingly growled, and she finally confirmed it was real.
She looked back towards the direction of the washroom and silently smiled.
When Cooper came out, the noodles were already finished, and that too, very cleanly, leaving only a little soup at the bottom.
That delicious?
He turned to look at Yolanda, who was pretending to be on her phone in bed, "Did you eat all of it?"
"Um?" Yolanda lifted her head, "Should I have saved some for you? Mom said you had eaten out."
"Yeah." Cooper picked up the bowl and, as if possessed, added, "I made this."
"I know." Yolanda curled her lips slightly into a small smile.
Cooper, still suspicious, walked out carrying the bowl of noodles.
It was his first time making noodles for Yolanda, so why did she recognize it right away?
In the kitchen, Cooper dipped his chopstick in the soup and tasted it; he instantly understood.
Because Nanny Bennett could not make noodles this unpalatable.
He quickly washed the bowl, not wanting anyone to know how bad he was at cooking.
Back in the bedroom, Yolanda revealed her pearly white teeth and gave him a smile.
Cooper still felt awkward; he knew it was because of the bowl of noodles.
"Don’t misunderstand, Grandpa forced me to make it."
Indeed, the smile on that woman’s face disappeared.
The two tacitly didn’t speak again, lying back to back on the bed, the distance between them wide enough for two more people.
Thinking of her promise to Grandpa to give it another try, Yolanda took the initiative to speak.
"Are you still not going to change your mind, determined to marry Melissa?"
"Yes."
Yolanda felt incredibly choked up, "This is the last time I’m asking you, won’t you reconsider?"
"No need."
Cooper’s answers were crisp and clear.
Yolanda’s tears immediately fell.
She tried her best to control her emotions, not wanting Cooper to realize how defeatist she was.
"Tomorrow, let’s go talk to Grandpa together and then go through with the paperwork."
She smiled, "It’s also not right to keep Melissa waiting."
The taste of tears slipping into her mouth was still so salty.
But now, she could smile through tears, could speak of letting him go.
Cooper was silent for a while.
"Let’s wait a few days, Grandpa has just gotten a bit better."
"Don’t worry about Melissa; I’ll take care of it."
"Okay." Yolanda didn’t want to talk anymore, she closed her eyes, letting her tears flow repeatedly.
In Cooper’s eyes, she would always be the one overlooked.
The next day, Yolanda applied several emergency eye masks to make her eyes look less swollen.
She visited Grandpa’s room, where the old man was obviously in a good mood today.
"How was it? Little Cooper’s cooking isn’t bad, right?"
"Ah?" Yolanda gave a dry laugh, "Pretty good."
"Give me a break." Old Master Coldson was incredulous, "It was his first time cooking; it’s strange if it was tasty. Just indulge him."
Embarrassed, Yolanda began to explain, "It was really okay, at least it was edible."
Old Master Coldson immediately laughed, and Yolanda joined in, but her heart ached, so she quickly lowered her head.
"Little Cooper is unlucky to have been born into the Coldson Family."
Old Master Coldson said earnestly.
Yolanda couldn’t help laughing, "Grandpa, are you being ironic? Do you know how many people outside dream of being part of the Coldson Family?"
"They dream of being like your little uncle, a leisurely man."
Yolanda nodded in agreement but couldn’t help being curious, "What was Cooper’s childhood like?"
"From a young age? How young?"
"Like when he was a kid."
Old Master Coldson shook his head, "He didn’t have such a time, at least none of us remember it."
Yolanda found it unbelievable.
Old Master Coldson continued, "At the age of five, he was groomed to be the successor of the Coldson Group. Following me, his mother, studying day and night, running around outside, attending all sorts of business meetings, not allowed his own opinions, much less to show any childlike temperament."
Yolanda felt even more astounded, "Why didn’t little uncle become the successor?"
"By then, Christopher was already too old, beyond the age suitable for training."
"What about Cooper’s brother? I remember, Cooper’s brother is only a year older than him, why wasn’t it him?"
"It was supposed to be him." Old Master Coldson sighed heavily, "But an event when they were young changed Little Noah, and after he returned, he completely changed, refusing to inherit the Coldson Family, leaving everyone helpless."
Yolanda was hearing these details for the first time.
From the moment she knew Cooper, he had always seemed like a sequence of code pre-designed, always functioning without fault.
Old Master Coldson sincerely said, "When Little Cooper first took over the group, many thought he was too young, inexperienced, but they didn’t know he had been preparing for that day for over a decade."
Yolanda couldn’t imagine it; although Eliana Reed and others weren’t kind to her, more often they just neglected her.
Thus, her childhood was full of adventures, climbing trees, swimming in rivers, sneaking out to catch birds and fish.
It was hard for her to imagine Cooper at five or six years old, in a suit and shoes, working alongside adults.
"So, Yolanda, in fact, he can be a bit slow in understanding many things, especially those outside of Coldson’s business..."
Old Master Coldson looked at her earnestly, "Grandpa means, if possible, could you wait for him?"
Yolanda bit her lip, silent.
Old Master Coldson sighed softly, "Grandpa doesn’t want him to understand his feelings too late, to suffer and regret it, the child... really breaks one’s heart."
"Grandpa," Yolanda, seeing Old Master Coldson tear up, hurriedly approached, "Grandpa, don’t be sad, Yolanda promises you, she will wait for him."
She truly was waiting, wholeheartedly.
But now, Cooper clearly understood his own feelings; the person he loved, the person he wanted to marry, was always Melissa.
It was just that Grandpa favored her, never willing to accept this fact.
"Good child, Grandpa thanks you."
Over the past few days, Yolanda’s left hand had slowly started to improve.
Though she couldn’t draw as satisfactorily as with her right hand, at least she saw hope.
After dinner, Old Master Coldson called Cooper and Yolanda to his room.
