Chapter 468 Adam Sterling, Why Are You Lying
Chapter 468: Chapter 468 Adam Sterling, Why Are You Lying
The next day, after dropping Little Ella off at school, Adam Sterling set out with Yolanda Greenwood.
"What kind of place?" Yolanda asked curiously on the way, "Is it a place we know?"
Adam nodded, "Yes."
The car kept moving forward, gradually leaving the city behind, seemingly entering some mysterious area.
Yolanda inexplicably felt a bit nervous, "How much farther?"
"Almost there." Adam chuckled, "What? Afraid I’m going to sell you?"
Yolanda tugged at the corners of her mouth, saying nothing more.
Half an hour later, Yolanda saw Noah Coldson and a group of soldiers; she looked at Adam in shock.
"Get out of the car, this is the camp." Adam got out of the car first.
Noah walked over quickly and hugged him tightly, "You bastard, what exactly are you trying to do?"
"Thank you for letting me come back." Yesterday, Adam had called Noah and said he wanted to bring Yolanda back to take a look.
Noah greeted Yolanda, "Yolanda, welcome back."
The people behind him, including Alex Johnson, also greeted happily, "Yolanda, welcome back."
Yolanda smiled at everyone, quietly asked Adam, "Do I know them all?"
"Of course, you once lived here for more than a month." Adam walked in with the others, also talking to Noah, "Alright, don’t let us interrupt your training; I’ll walk with her."
"Alright then." Noah knew they’d be uncomfortable with Adam around, since last time he had brought Yolanda here.
He gestured for Alex and the others to leave together.
"Boss," back at the training field, Alex gossipingly moved closer, "Why does it seem like Yolanda doesn’t recognize us? And what’s going on between her and... Brother Sterling?"
"Stop talking so much, hurry up and get to training." Noah kicked Alex; there were many things he didn’t want to bring up.
Adam took Yolanda to the infirmary, he looked back at her, "Do you feel anything?"
Yolanda frowned, almost blurting out, "I don’t like it here."
"Then that’s right." Adam lowered his head, "You couldn’t possibly like it here."
He stood at the door, letting Yolanda stay alone for a while, "I’ll wait outside for you; you can have a good look, maybe you’ll remember something."
Yolanda nodded; she walked through every corner of the infirmary bit by bit, and even sat on the hospital bed. Strangely, she felt extremely sad, even shedding tears.
She stayed for a while, but couldn’t remember anything besides sadness, so she wiped her tears away and went out.
She sat next to Adam, and when she spoke, her voice was much more subdued, "What happened to me here?"
"Yolanda, do you know why we haven’t brought you back, nor wanted you to recover your memory?" Adam said earnestly, "It’s because of the feeling you just had. When you try to recover your memory, this feeling will keep appearing; are you sure this is what you want?"
He turned seriously to look at Yolanda, "Yolanda, you can still repent now; we can leave together. If you are always unwilling, we can sleep in separate rooms for the rest of our lives; I don’t mind."
"Adam," Yolanda smiled bitterly, "I can’t be selfish anymore."
Adam gritted his teeth, "Alright, you want to know how we met here then? I’ll tell you now."
His tone was somewhat aggravated, "You had depression and wanted to commit suicide, receiving my closed treatment here, got it?"
Yolanda instantly clenched her fists; she didn’t expect it to be like this.
"Do you know why you got depression?" Adam asked again.
Looking at his expression, Yolanda vaguely guessed the answer.
"Because of Cooper!" Adam’s expression seemed to say you deserved it, "In the year you were married, you loved him very much, but he was devoted to someone else, so he kept tormenting you, hurting you, resulting in you being pregnant but getting severe depression, committing suicide multiple times. Without me, you would have taken Ella and yourself to death."
Yolanda covered her mouth at once, unable to accept looking at Adam; she didn’t dare to imagine she could have such a past with Cooper.
Did Cooper almost kill her and the child?
At this moment, Adam seemed unsatisfied and continued, "Moreover, the car accident that made you lose your memory never existed."
"What do you mean?" Yolanda was utterly shocked.
"There was no car accident; it was because Cooper took away Ella, you couldn’t bear it any longer, your depression worsened, and you jumped into the sea with Ella!"
"What?" Yolanda almost collapsed instantly.
She began to cry uncontrollably, shaking her head, refusing to accept all of this.
She really couldn’t imagine the truth could be like this; how dare Cooper show up in front of her again?
"Adam!" At this moment, Noah’s voice suddenly sounded; he heard Adam’s lies and didn’t expect Adam to say such things.
Adam glanced back at him, a face full of impatience.
Noah suppressed his emotions, "Adam, come over here; there’s some luggage of yours you might want to check."
"I’ll be there." Adam looked at Yolanda, "You can walk around freely; I’ll come back and find you later."
He followed Noah away.
Returning to his former room, he felt as if he had traveled back in time.
Things were almost packed; he casually opened a bag to look, "Thanks, Captain."
Noah stood at the door, finally unable to hold back, "Why?"
"Why what?" Adam still had his back to Noah, his tone very unpleasant.
Noah found it unfamiliar, grabbing his arm, forcing him to turn and look at him, "Why lie just now, say those things to make Yolanda misunderstand Cooper; do you know what you’re doing?"
"Misunderstand?" Adam forcefully shook off Noah’s hand, "What misunderstanding? Did I say anything wrong? Was it not because of Cooper that Yolanda got depression and came here?"
Noah lowered his voice, "You said back then that Yolanda had depression from a very young age, and it wasn’t entirely because of Cooper, and at that time, what happened between them was clearly due to misunderstandings; Cooper certainly did wrong, but he didn’t know Yolanda was pregnant and never thought to make her die."
"Also, the incident of jumping into the sea," Noah looked at his estranged comrade, "how can you say it was Cooper’s coercion?"
Adam sneered, "Noah, you wouldn’t be trying to get Yolanda since you couldn’t and now want your brother to have her, would you?"
Noah looked at Adam incredulously; he genuinely felt Adam had changed.
"And then? Could you then, as her big brother, approach her and take advantage of the situation?"
"What are you talking about!" Noah threw a punch, "Adam, wake up; what’s wrong with you?"
Adam was knocked down onto the bed, his mouth quickly swollen and red; he stood up, coldly looking at Noah, "I’m fine; it’s you who needs to put away your filthy thoughts, no one will take Yolanda away from me!"
