Entangled with My Cousin's Fiancé -
Chapter 430: After all, you are not Ella’s biological father
Chapter 430: Chapter 430: After all, you are not Ella’s biological father
After Daisy Dawson left, Adam Sterling arrived, accompanied by the police.
Yolanda and Little Ella gave their statements together, and the police confirmed if they intended to hold the other party legally responsible.
"Yes." Yolanda nodded affirmatively.
"Alright, here’s the indictment; please sign it." The policeman handed the document to Adam Sterling, who was nearest to him, "You’re the child’s father, right? Your signature will suffice."
"Adam, go ahead and sign it." Yolanda prompted again.
Unexpectedly, Adam took the document but turned to hand it to Yolanda, "You sign it."
"Huh?" Yolanda didn’t understand what Adam meant; did he not want to sue them?
Seeing that neither of them signed, the policeman lightly coughed and reminded them, "You are both the child’s legal guardians; it doesn’t matter who signs."
Yet Adam still avoided Yolanda’s gaze, showing no intention of signing.
"I’ll sign it." Yolanda swiftly wrote her name down, then asked Adam to watch Little Ella while she escorted the police out.
When she returned, Little Ella was asleep. She looked at Adam and said, "Come out for a moment."
In the corridor, Yolanda asked directly, "Are you against suing them?"
"No." Adam immediately denied it.
"Then why didn’t you want to sign just now?" Yolanda found it odd and scrutinized Adam without blinking.
Adam smiled, "It’s the same no matter who signs."
Obviously, this wasn’t a satisfactory answer. Yolanda stayed silent, wanting to hear his explanation.
He and Yolanda weren’t officially registered, so his signature had no legal effect, but this reason couldn’t be disclosed to Yolanda just yet.
So, after thinking for a while, he said, "Yolanda, it’s not that I’m against suing; I just think... Coldson Group’s top-notch legal team is surely hard to deal with. Instead of suing, it’s better to directly inform Cooper. I believe he’ll handle it well."
"What? Tell Cooper?" Yolanda was totally baffled, "You know very well the relationship between Cooper, me, and Ella, and you still think we should tell Cooper?"
Adam was equally puzzled by Yolanda’s reaction, "Exactly because I know Cooper is Ella’s biological dad, I’m confident that Cooper will handle this matter well."
Yolanda found it hard to accept, seeing that Adam was very calm, and he thought this decision was very rational.
She quickly shook her head and sighed softly, "Whatever, if you don’t want to sue, I’ll do it myself, no need for you to get involved."
"Yolanda, you know it’s not that I don’t want to help." Adam felt a bit helpless.
"Even if you don’t want to help, I can understand," Yolanda looked at him angrily, "After all, you’re not Ella’s biological father."
"Yolanda!" Adam was also a bit angry, "Take back what you just said, you know I’ve never thought that way."
"You go back; I’ll stay to take care of Ella." Yolanda had no intention of apologizing and went straight back into the ward, unwilling to engage further with Adam.
Adam understood that Yolanda was upset, so he stayed in the corridor, not chasing after her to apologize.
After leaving the hospital, Daisy Dawson thought it over and decided she should tell Cooper about this matter; she wanted to see how Cooper would handle it.
It’s not that she didn’t trust Yolanda to handle it, but she felt it was unnecessary. Informing Cooper was the most direct and effective method.
She went straight to the Coldson Group’s headquarters.
The receptionist asked if she had an appointment; she responded directly that Cooper knew her, and as long as she gave her name, Cooper would meet her.
"Miss, without an appointment, I’m afraid I can’t let you in, and I certainly can’t contact President Coldson to ask if he knows you." The receptionist politely showed her out, "Miss, you’d better make a private appointment with President Coldson."
Actually, women like Daisy who claimed to know Cooper and came directly each month were a few; the receptionist was accustomed to handling this.
Daisy guessed this would be the case and thought she might as well wait at the door; she didn’t believe she couldn’t corner Cooper.
However, as she was about to leave, another familiar face stopped her.
"Are you looking for President Coldson?"
Daisy nodded, feeling that the woman in front of her seemed familiar but couldn’t recall where they had met.
"What’s your business?" The person asked arrogantly.
Daisy didn’t answer her; instead, she asked, "May I ask who you are..."
"I’m President Coldson’s personal secretary; just call me Assistant Adams." It turned out this was Elsie Adams, who had joined Coldson Group not long ago.
Assistant Adams?
Daisy silently mouthed the name and suddenly remembered that Assistant Adams was Teacher Adams from the kindergarten.
She had inquired before; Teacher Adams was someone Cooper placed in the kindergarten. Unexpectedly, she had now entered Coldson Group directly, indicating a close relationship with Cooper.
"I remember you were a teacher at the kindergarten before," Daisy thought the person in front might be able to help, "I came this time because I have something important to tell President Coldson."
Elsie frowned, "You know me?"
"Yes, I went to the kindergarten to find Ella, Ella Greenwood. I’m an employee of Coldson Kidswear, you probably don’t remember."
Upon hearing Ella’s name, Elsie became more vigilant, "What’s the matter? I can relay the message."
"Here’s the situation, a Vice President recently joined Coldson Kidswear, and he had his people throw Little Ella into the panda activity area. Now, they’re planning to sue Coldson," Daisy sighed and said, "I think President Coldson should deal with it personally, as his son and Ella are very good friends."
Elsie was almost about to applaud; she hadn’t expected someone else to toss that brat into the panda activity area. It was extremely gratifying.
She asked Daisy, "Are you saying Yolanda plans to take Coldson to court?"
"Yes." Daisy nodded; since Elsie was Little Ella’s teacher, she naturally knew Yolanda.
"Did she ask you to come?"
Daisy quickly shook her head, "No, Sister Yolanda wants to resolve it legally, but I think... no matter what, President Coldson should decide since the culprit, Vice President Sullivan, is President Coldson’s relative."
Elsie frowned, Vice President Sullivan? Cooper’s relative? She thought it might be necessary to get acquainted with this person.
"Alright, I understand what’s going on; you can head back now. I will inform President Coldson." Elsie nodded slightly and turned to leave.
Daisy felt inexplicably uneasy, taking a few steps after her, "Assistant Adams, please make sure to tell President Coldson quickly. If it really goes to court, it won’t be good for anyone."
"Don’t worry." Elsie swaggered, striding to the front desk in her high heels, "Do I have any messages?"
"Assistant Adams, no messages for you." The receptionist was very respectful to her.
Elsie glanced back at Daisy, then lowered her voice to the receptionist, "Keep an eye on that woman, and be cautious not to let her into Coldson Group. She’s here to cause trouble."
