Chapter 388: Chapter 388: Do You Also Want to Disappear from This Family?
Little Gabriel handed Baby Bunny to Cooper, secretly hoping that his clumsy dad wouldn’t be able to fix it.
Actually, Cooper took one look and saw that the little bunny just had two tears. A bit of tape would definitely fix it.
He confidently looked at his son, "Don’t worry, Dad will fix it for you."
The little guy blinked his eyes: Clumsy Dad, there’s no need to fix it, I’d rather have a new one.
Cooper sat on the floor with his son, found some clear tape, and carefully patched up the tears. Holding it up proudly, he asked, "How about now? Has the little bunny come back to life?"
Little Gabriel shook his head unhappily.
"No?" Cooper checked it again, trying to restore it to its original state, then held it up again, "Is it okay now?"
Once again, Little Gabriel shook his head unhappily.
Cooper furrowed his brow in confusion, "Gabriel, these parts are already torn and can’t be restored to how they were before..."
Clumsy Dad!
Little Gabriel muttered in his heart and then grabbed the repaired bunny from Cooper, straightforwardly saying, "I want Sister to fold me a new one, one that isn’t torn."
"You little rascal..." Cooper said with a wry smile, "Alright, Dad promises, I’ll ask Sister Ella to fold you a new one."
"Thank you, Dad." Instantly, the cloudiness on Little Gabriel’s face disappeared, and he was no longer upset.
With a helpless expression, Cooper checked the time, realizing he had been upstairs for almost two hours. He stood up, "You play by yourself then, I’m going downstairs to send Teacher Adams home. We’ll stay at Grandma’s tonight, okay?"
Little Gabriel didn’t answer, focusing on his own toys, seemingly lost in his own world again.
Cooper was momentarily stunned, as if the lively little boy from before was just a dream. He really hoped that Gabriel could grow up happily.
He quickly went downstairs but found that Elsie Adams had already left.
"When did she leave?" Cooper asked with some frustration, "Why didn’t you call me upstairs?"
Clearly, his relationship with Elsie Adams was distant, and he didn’t want to owe her anything.
"Teacher Adams said that Gabriel needs someone with him now, and since you didn’t come down, it means he needs you, so she told me not to call you," Isabella Ross seemed quite satisfied with Elsie Adams.
"I’ll call her later to thank her," Cooper didn’t take it to heart; he had his ways to make it up to Elsie Adams.
"How about inviting her to a meal sometime," Isabella tentatively suggested, "Don’t keep everything so professional, just consider making a friend."
"No need." Cooper directly refused; he was clear about Isabella’s intentions.
Over the past three years, Isabella always hoped Cooper would remarry, which had already strained their mother-son relationship, but she still hadn’t given up.
"Cooper, how long are you going to be stubborn?" Isabella got angry just thinking about it, "I don’t care about your deep feelings, it’s fine if you want to wait for Yolanda Greenwood for a hundred years..."
Her voice choked up quickly, "But why should my grandson wait with you? He needs a mother, someone who cares for him and loves him, don’t you understand?"
Cooper remained silent, knowing well enough that Little Gabriel needed a mother, but he believed his son, like him, only wanted that one person.
"Cooper, you have no idea how scared I was today at the kindergarten," Isabella said, still unsettled, "When Gabriel fought, his eyes were red. If it weren’t for Teacher Adams calming him down, I feared he would..."
She sighed, "Gabriel is still young now, but what if he’s like this at sixteen or twenty-six, aren’t you worried?"
Cooper replied coldly, "Gabriel didn’t hit anyone for no reason; that child broke his toy."
"Does breaking his toy mean he has to pay with his life?" Isabella was truly worried for Little Gabriel, "Do you want him to go to jail in the future?"
Cooper fell silent again. He had consulted foreign experts back then, who mentioned that patients with a rare condition often had a higher crime rate. These patients couldn’t feel pain and had difficulty understanding emotions, like an emotionless killing machine; once triggered, the consequences were unimaginable.
He understood that today, the little bunny that Ella folded was a trigger, and thinking about it now, it was indeed frightening.
"Cooper, think about what I said. It’s rare for Gabriel to listen to Teacher Adams, and it’s obvious that Teacher likes you..."
"Mom, stop talking nonsense!" Cooper cut Isabella off, "Teacher Adams and I are just parent and teacher, there’s nothing more, where would you get any meaning from?"
"You’re just...always a step behind with these things, no, completely clueless. Let me tell you, a mother won’t make a mistake; Elsie likes you," Isabella said shaking her head, disappointed.
Cooper’s face grew colder as he listened; he never considered such things, and always kept a professional attitude with Elsie Adams. How could it be like this?
"Cooper, for Gabriel’s sake, consider what I said. Just take it as a favor to me," Isabella lowered her stance.
Cooper set down his cup and stood up to leave.
"Where are you going?" Isabella asked seriously, "Whenever I talk about this, you leave. Your brother hasn’t been heard from in three years, do you also want to disappear from this family?"
Cooper stopped, not turning back, and said in a deep voice, "I’m going to call Teacher Adams to thank her for today."
"Good, good, go and do that," Isabella said, her face lighting up with joy, seeing her son finally give in.
Cooper returned to his study upstairs and dialed Elsie Adams’ number.
Elsie answered quickly, "Mr. Coldson? How is Gabriel?"
"Gabriel’s fine. Thank you for today, Teacher Adams," Cooper couldn’t help but add a hint of distance to his voice, "However, please refrain from coming over again. My mother is getting old and may speak out of turn. If she said anything offensive, I hope you’ll forgive her."
Since Isabella would have already tested the waters with Elsie, Cooper didn’t want Elsie to misunderstand.
Across the phone, Elsie’s face slightly changed, "Could it be that Isabella really wasn’t satisfied with me? Or...was it Cooper who disagreed?"
She was about to ask when Cooper spoke again.
"By the way, Teacher Adams, is Designer Greenwood’s daughter, Ella really planning to drop out?"
Elsie’s expression turned slightly colder, "Designer Greenwood? Why did Cooper suddenly mention Yolanda? Could he be suspicious of something?"
"Yes," Elsie confirmed, "I heard that Ella’s father is abroad and misses them greatly. He wants them to reunite quickly."
