Chapter 363: Chapter 363: Daddy is so Silly
"What brother?" Yolanda Greenwood walked out to grab a bottle of water, heading toward the fridge.
"The older brother at the kindergarten," Lola Gold jumped in to answer, "Our little Princess here is such a hopeless romantic. When she sees a handsome boy at kindergarten, she just calls him brother."
As she spoke, she carefully observed Yolanda’s expression.
Yolanda took out the water, twisted open the cap, drank a sip, and then walked a few steps over to the two of them, gently rubbing Little Ella’s head. "Little romantic, Mommy has to keep working now."
"Okay! Mommy, go get ’em!" Little Ella pumped her tiny fists in encouragement, then suddenly remembered something and chased after her. "Mommy, can I use your phone for a bit? I want to video call Daddy."
"Sure, but only for five minutes. Mommy still needs to get in touch with the team," Yolanda reminded her softly.
"Got it." Little Ella agreed cheerfully, and soon, she was back in the living room clutching the phone.
Lola Gold chuckled and got up to leave. "Alright then, I’ll go see if there’s something tasty in the kitchen. I won’t interrupt your father-daughter bonding session."
"Hehe..." Little Ella grinned, her eyes squinting in delight.
With the phone in her little hands, she expertly found Daddy’s WeChat and dialed him via video call.
The call was answered promptly.
"Daddy!" Little Ella joyfully called out in her sweet voice.
Her face filled the screen, her adorableness almost overwhelming.
The man on the other end couldn’t help but laugh incredulously. "Ella, do you miss Daddy? How was kindergarten today?"
"Yes, I missed Daddy. You have to come soon!" Little Ella cuddled the phone and pouted, "Kindergarten was great. I made new friends! When you come over, I’m going to introduce them to you."
"Good girl. Everyone loves our Ella. No matter where she goes, she makes new friends," the man paused and then asked, "What about Mommy?"
"Mommy is busy," Little Ella answered earnestly.
She rambled on enthusiastically about the happenings at kindergarten while the man listened quietly, laughing softly every now and then, exuding warmth.
Yolanda noticed it had been fifteen minutes already, and Little Ella hadn’t returned the phone yet. She had to go retrieve it herself.
"Alright Ella, it’s already been fifteen minutes. Mommy needs the phone now."
"Okay. Bye-bye Daddy! I’ll come find you to chat another day." Little Ella obediently waved at the camera and returned the phone to Yolanda.
Yolanda gave a little shake of her head towards the person on the other end of the call. "We agreed on five minutes. If I didn’t come out, she’d keep talking with you for an hour."
The man laughed, "This little one has been chatty since a young age. Seems like sending her to kindergarten was the right call."
"Yeah." Yolanda thought back to when she first heard about the kindergarten—it was this man who mentioned it to her. She smiled gently, "I owe thanks to you for that. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have discovered this little gem."
The man curled his lips slightly but stayed silent.
"Alright, I need to get back to work. You should rest early." Yolanda smiled and ended the video call.
Tomorrow, she would be visiting the exhibition venue, and if she wanted to establish herself in Gray City, this showcase had to be an instant hit.
The next day, Yolanda prepared to drop off Little Ella at kindergarten before heading to the venue.
Little Ella didn’t arrive early, and by the time she entered the classroom, many of the kids were already there.
Everyone was gathered around Little Gabriel, but when they saw Little Ella arrive, they immediately rushed to greet her enthusiastically.
"Ella, good morning! Did you have breakfast?"
"Ella, Gabriel is ignoring people again. You better come take a look at him."
"Ella, can you get Gabriel to play with us? We really want to play with him."
Little Ella set down her backpack and ran over to Little Gabriel, cheerfully greeting him, "Good morning, big brother."
Little Gabriel had been sitting there, but as soon as he saw her, he raised his head and slowly stood up, his eyes bright as they fixed on Little Ella.
The other kids immediately exclaimed.
"Wow, Gabriel only responds to Ella! That’s so strange."
"It really is strange. And don’t you all think they look alike? It’s weird—like they’re siblings."
"Big brother, did you have breakfast?" Little Ella trotted back to her bag, pulling out an apple, and handed it to Little Gabriel. "Big brother, I brought two apples today. This one is big and red; you can have it."
Little Gabriel’s gaze softened as he looked at Little Ella. He took the apple, holding it like a little treasure.
When he saw Little Ella turning to leave, he quickly grabbed her and timidly pulled out two cookies from his backpack.
The cookies were shaped like little bears—adorable and placed inside a pink pouch adorned with strawberry patterns, making them extra charming.
"Wow, bear cookies!" Little Ella held them in delight, hugging them to her chest. "I absolutely love bear cookies. Thank you, big brother. You’re the best!"
Little Gabriel kept his gaze on her, his large eyes clearly full of anticipation.
Little Ella tilted her head and looked at the cookies she held, seemingly reading his mind. She suddenly asked, "Big brother, did you make these cookies yourself?"
Little Gabriel immediately nodded, his smile growing wider in his eyes.
"Wow, big brother, you’re amazing!" Little Ella examined the cookies over and over. She quickly noticed they weren’t identical—they seemed to be made by two different people.
One was more meticulous and beautifully crafted, while the other was a bit rougher.
Little Ella held the slightly rougher one and asked, "Did big brother make this one?"
Little Gabriel immediately shook his head and finally spoke, his tone filled with disdain, "Daddy!"
"Hahaha..." Little Ella burst into uncontrollable laughter, bending over. "Big brother’s daddy is so silly. He didn’t even make them as nicely as big brother!"
She quickly unwrapped the one made by Daddy, "I’ll eat this one Daddy made, and keep the one big brother made."
Little Gabriel nodded again, smiling.
Not far away, Elsie Adams observed the exchange between the two children, deeply astonished. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Little Gabriel had an innate dependence on and affection for Little Ella.
She suddenly recalled something—Cooper Coldson had once mentioned that Little Gabriel had a younger sister who had gone missing.
"Alright, kids, quickly return to your seats," Elsie Adams temporarily dismissed her wild thoughts and began today’s lesson.
Meanwhile, Yolanda had arrived at the jewelry exhibition venue. She’d heard the event was hosted by Baruy, a prestigious domestic and international company. The investor was none other than the most well-funded enterprise in Gray City. Unsurprisingly, the venue was set up in a luxurious and elegant style, reflecting sophistication at every corner.
Standing at the entrance, Yolanda felt a surge of excitement.
Soon, Baruy’s on-site staff approached her. "Hello, are you Miss Greenwood from Heart Island Design? Just call me Sunny Skies."
"Hello, Sunny." Yolanda stepped forward and proactively shook hands with her.
"It’s wonderful to meet you in person," Sunny Skies seemed genuinely fond of Yolanda’s designs. "Our Director Taylor, Sophie Taylor, is very impressed with your company’s work and wants to add a few more booths for your display. Would that be possible?"
