Entangled with My Cousin's Fiancé
Chapter 342 Your Son is a Little Fool

Chapter 342: Chapter 342 Your Son is a Little Fool

Yolanda Greenwood instinctively looked at Noah Coldson; after all, Little Gabriel had been raised in the Coldson family’s old residence, so she wasn’t clear on the specifics.

Noah Coldson shook his head, "That’s impossible. My mom doesn’t like Melissa Greenwood getting close to the kid. Melissa has never even held him; the two of them couldn’t possibly be close."

"Could I have seen it wrong?" Captain Reyes looked even more perplexed. They were trained in micro-expression analysis, so the odds of him being mistaken were slim.

But given the current situation, this wasn’t the time to dwell on it. He said no more, silently planning to take a closer look later.

Within just half an hour, everything was ready.

Noah Coldson picked up the megaphone again, "Melissa Greenwood, the items you asked for are ready."

"Well, isn’t this efficient." Melissa Greenwood sneered and reappeared, holding Little Gabriel once again. She raised her voice, "Yolanda Greenwood, come over here."

"Melissa Greenwood!" Noah Coldson reached out to stop Yolanda Greenwood from moving forward. "Melissa Greenwood, you already have one hostage. Don’t push your luck."

"You’re overthinking it. I’m holding the child; I can’t control your beloved Yolanda Greenwood," Melissa shouted. "I just need someone to grab the things for me. Yolanda, I’ll count to three—whether or not you come is up to you."

Noah Coldson’s face darkened; he immediately ordered, "Get a bulletproof vest for Yolanda Greenwood."

"That won’t be necessary," Yolanda hesitated, fearing Melissa Greenwood might change her mind.

Someone quickly fetched a bulletproof vest for Yolanda Greenwood. Noah Coldson patted her shoulder, "It’s safer this way. Be careful."

"Three!" Melissa Greenwood impatiently finished counting.

"I’m coming, I’m coming." Yolanda Greenwood rushed forward, her heart aching as she looked at Little Gabriel.

Little Gabriel clearly recognized her; his eyes lit up instantly and he stretched out his tiny arms, wanting Yolanda to hold him.

"Behave!" Melissa Greenwood snapped at the child.

"You’re scaring him," Yolanda Greenwood frowned. "Melissa Greenwood, he’s a baby not even a year old. Can’t you show some humanity?"

"Scaring him?" Melissa Greenwood sneered. "Does he look scared to you?"

"Yolanda," she added maliciously, "if you ask me, your child is nothing more than a freak—he doesn’t even know what fear is."

At this moment, Yolanda Greenwood also noticed that Little Gabriel indeed seemed unfazed.

She breathed a sigh of relief and spoke tenderly, "You’re amazing, Gabriel. Our Gabriel is the bravest."

"Cut the nonsense and grab the stuff!" Melissa Greenwood snapped menacingly. "Take out the large bag inside."

She shouted toward Noah Coldson and the others, "Put the money and the prepared items into my car’s trunk."

Noah Coldson exchanged a quick glance with President Coldson and Richard Reyes. Richard immediately led a few people to load the items into Melissa Greenwood’s car.

Melissa Greenwood ordered Yolanda Greenwood to carry the bag upfront while she followed behind, heading toward the car.

"Put it in," Melissa Greenwood said slowly before deliberately adding, "Gabriel, we’re still short of a driver. Who do you think should drive?"

"I’ll do it; I’ll drive for you." Yolanda Greenwood spoke up immediately.

Melissa Greenwood smirked triumphantly and announced to everyone, "Did you hear that? This time, she volunteered to be my driver. Don’t say I took another hostage."

"I’ll do it. I’ll drive for you." Cooper Coldson suddenly stepped forward. "Yolanda, step back; it’s too dangerous."

"This has nothing to do with you." Yolanda Greenwood didn’t even glance at Cooper Coldson, getting into the driver’s seat on her own. She knew deep down that even if she agreed to swap places with Cooper, Melissa Greenwood wouldn’t accept.

To Melissa Greenwood, Yolanda was an unarmed, emotionally vulnerable mother invested in her child’s safety—a weak link. But Cooper Coldson was a different story; she wouldn’t risk having him seated beside her.

"Tsk tsk," Melissa Greenwood mocked, eyeing Cooper Coldson. "Even our esteemed President Coldson has fallen to such lows. How amusing."

Cooper Coldson clenched his teeth. "Melissa Greenwood, mark my words. If you dare lay a finger on this mother and child, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life."

Melissa Greenwood chuckled dismissively. "Oh really? I, a lone wolf, wonder what exactly you could threaten me with these days."

"Try me and find out," Cooper Coldson’s glare remained menacing.

Melissa Greenwood’s smile faded; she suddenly felt an inexplicable fear. Looking deflated, she said, "Relax. All I want right now is to leave. Their lives are of no interest to me."

With that, she climbed into the car and ordered, "Drive west toward the outskirts."

Yolanda Greenwood started the engine and quickly drove away.

Noah Coldson immediately instructed Captain Reyes to find an inconspicuous car, then ordered, "They’re heading west out of Gray City. Get the traffic police to monitor their route along the way."

"Got it. I’ll immediately assign people to handle it." Captain Reyes rushed to execute the plan.

Cooper Coldson stepped forward. "I’m coming with you."

"Alright." Noah Coldson did not refuse; at this point, he needed all the help he could get, and he had witnessed Cooper’s skills firsthand.

"I’m coming too." Richard Reyes said with steely determination.

Noah Coldson nodded and ordered someone to bring them bulletproof vests.

Soon, Captain Reyes’ car was ready, and Yolanda Greenwood’s route began to be tracked in real time.

"Follow them from other roads and stay on standby," Noah Coldson gave his final instructions before signaling to Cooper Coldson and Richard Reyes. "Let’s move out."

The group jumped into the car, which roared to life and sped off, tearing down the road like a storm.

Inside Yolanda Greenwood’s car, Melissa Greenwood repeatedly checked the rearview mirror, trying to spot any cars behind them.

After a while, seeing no police cars, she chuckled, "Looks like they’ve switched to other vehicles for tailing. With Captain Coldson’s capabilities, I wouldn’t be able to detect them anyway. No point wasting energy."

Focused on driving, Yolanda Greenwood tried to reason with her, "Even if you manage to escape Gray City, what’s next? Are you planning to live your entire life in hiding?"

"Oh? Are you worried about me?" Melissa Greenwood’s face twisted with disdain.

"I just think a fugitive’s life..." Yolanda Greenwood sighed softly, "might be even harder than you imagine."

"It’s all thanks to you! If not for you, I’d be Cooper Coldson’s wife right now, the good daughter of the Greenwood Family patriarch. How could I have fallen so far?" Melissa Greenwood glared at Yolanda, yelling.

Yolanda Greenwood’s voice carried a hint of helplessness, "Melissa Greenwood, why can’t you see your mistakes even now?"

"Mistakes? What mistake did I make?" Melissa Greenwood retorted coldly. "Wanting to marry an exceptional man, seeking a better life—is that wrong?"

Her gaze hardened as she looked at the baby in her arms, Little Gabriel. "But your bastard here, born into wealth people couldn’t earn in generations, is the real evil, the one who deserves to die!"

Yolanda Greenwood’s heart froze as she stared in fear, "Melissa Greenwood, calm down."

Melissa Greenwood suddenly grinned, pulling out a sharp fruit knife and gleefully brandishing it near Little Gabriel. "But Yolanda, did you notice? Your son is just a little fool—hahahahaha!"
