Chapter 332: Chapter 332 She Could Feel Something Happened to Cooper Coldson
Yolanda stared at the person in front of her in disbelief.
Ever since this person appeared, he had always been helping her. She had affectionately called him "big brother" all along. To her, he truly felt like family.
Especially after Gemma Morgan and Jaxon Greenwood’s accident, Yolanda had genuinely regarded Noah as someone she could completely trust. But now, he was actually saying he had been helping Melissa all this time.
Yolanda didn’t care that Noah had helped Melissa break her and Cooper apart; she just felt like all her once-steadfast trust had been for nothing.
"Why?" That single word fell along with her tears; she truly couldn’t understand.
"I’m sorry, Yolanda. I’m so sorry." Looking at Yolanda’s expression, Noah felt as though her entire being was about to shatter. He was overwhelmed with guilt.
He didn’t even dare to wipe her tears, afraid that she might despise him to the very core.
"Why? Just tell me why!" Yolanda demanded hysterically.
"Yolanda, back then... back then on that island, it was... it was me who led the kidnappers... to you." Saying this was the hardest thing Noah had ever done in his life.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry..." He clutched his head, hitting it furiously. "I was so scared. I was so scared... I’m sorry, I deserve to die! I deserve to die!"
As it turned out, when the kidnappers first arrived, they had only found Noah. It was Noah who had voluntarily offered to lead them to Cooper and Yolanda, which was how all three children were captured.
Through sobs, Noah confessed, "Melissa... she saw me leading the kidnappers back then, and she’s been using that to blackmail me all these years."
"What does it matter?" Yolanda shook her head gently. "You were only six years old at the time. Isn’t it normal to be afraid? If it had been just me who was caught, maybe I would’ve done the same thing."
"You wouldn’t have." Noah replied with certainty. He knew Yolanda wouldn’t have done the same, which only made him more terrified for her to find out the truth.
Later, when all three of them were captured, he and Yolanda had the opportunity to escape together. But Yolanda chose to stay with Cooper and let Noah return to seek help.
If he had insisted that Yolanda leave then, she wouldn’t have been injured. She wouldn’t have faced the scorn and ridicule from Eliana and the others. And Melissa wouldn’t have had the opportunity to falsely claim credit as a savior.
Every time Noah thought about this, he felt like the root of all those disasters was himself.
"Big brother, the mistake you made at six really wasn’t such a grave one. What’s worse..." Yolanda averted her gaze in disappointment, "What’s worse is that you knowingly helped Melissa commit all those atrocities. That’s what’s truly heartbreaking."
"I’m sorry. I’m truly sorry." Noah stood up. "Yolanda, I don’t expect your forgiveness for confessing this. I just don’t want to continue making the same mistakes."
He let out a deep sigh. "I’ll leave for the U.S. tonight. Take care of yourself."
Realizing that Yolanda truly didn’t want to see him anymore, he turned to leave. As he reached the door, he couldn’t stop himself from saying one last thing, "I’m really sorry. I don’t deserve to love you!"
Opening the door, Noah left quickly.
Yolanda sat on the couch, feeling an unbearable chill spread through her entire body. She hugged herself tightly, but her trembling wouldn’t stop.
Lola heard the sound of Noah leaving and came out, seeing Yolanda’s downcast expression. She immediately rushed over to comfort her, "Are you okay?"
Yolanda shook her head.
"It’ll get better. Everything will get better." Lola gently hugged her, trying to offer a sliver of warmth.
"Mm." Yolanda leaned against Lola’s shoulder, her tears quietly streaming down.
After Noah left, he stood downstairs for a very, very long time. He didn’t know if he had the courage to ever see Yolanda again. He knew this time he had truly made a grave mistake.
It was nearly an hour before he finally left, drained.
When he arrived at the old house, it was midday. To his surprise, Cooper was there too, seemingly discussing wedding plans with Isabella.
"Noah?" Isabella noticed immediately that something was off with Noah’s expression. "What’s wrong? Did something happen?"
Noah stared at Cooper. "Cooper, I want to talk to you."
The things he had done wrong—Cooper had a right to know the truth too.
"Talk about what?" Cooper walked over, frowning. "What’s going on with you?"
"Come to my room." Noah, dragging his weary body, slowly ascended the stairs.
Worried, Isabella hurried after him, grabbing his arm. "What’s going on with you? Are you feeling unwell?"
Noah’s demeanor reminded her of when he was six years old. She was terrified he might just disappear again.
"Mom, I’m fine, don’t worry." Noah mustered a faint smile and, after a moment’s thought, hugged Isabella. "Mom, I’m sorry. I’ve made you worry for so many years."
"What nonsense are you saying?" Isabella’s eyes rimmed with red. "You call me mom; it’s my duty to worry about you for a lifetime."
She gently patted his back. "If anything’s wrong, just talk to me. No matter what happens, I’ll always be here. I’ll always be on your side. Don’t be afraid."
Noah’s tears fell like rain as he clung to Isabella tightly.
At six years old, he had felt unworthy of facing his family, chasing after some misguided notion of courage. In the end, he realized he was just running away.
All these years, he had wronged his family, wronged Isabella, and wronged his younger brother, Cooper.
Standing nearby, Cooper was visibly moved. Since Noah had returned, he could tell Isabella had been treading on eggshells. Noah’s departure years ago had left a lifelong scar of fear in her heart.
Now, seeing them finally embracing like a real family, Cooper felt genuinely happy for them.
"Mom, I’m really fine." When Noah finally let go of Isabella, he did look much better. "There’s something I want to discuss with Cooper privately."
"Go ahead." Isabella patted both her sons on the arms and smiled gently. "But talk it out, no fighting this time."
Both of them nodded before heading off, one after the other.
"Noah has finally grown up," Isabella murmured with a smile as she turned to the nursery.
Little Gabriel was still napping, and she cheerfully shared her thoughts with the small child, whispering softly, "Gabriel, you need to grow up quickly too. Your dad needs you."
Over the past few days, Cooper had stepped away from all matters at the Coldson Group to focus entirely on planning the wedding with her at home.
But Isabella could sense that something was off with Cooper. Unlike Noah, he was much harder to reach. No matter how much she asked, he always insisted he was fine.
Now, all Isabella hoped was that nothing major would go wrong on the wedding day. The Coldson Family had been through far too much recently.
Upstairs, Noah closed the door and looked at his younger brother. With difficulty, he began, "I’m sorry."
Cooper furrowed his brows. "Sorry for what? If you’re talking about all those years you were gone, let it go already."
He scoffed indifferently, "Like Mom said, as long as I call her Mom, I’ll take care of her my whole life, whether you, the big brother, are here or not."
