Chapter 297: Chapter 297 Unconditional Support for Her Forever
Time flew by, and before I knew it, the night before the divorce trial had arrived.
That evening, Old Master Coldson was especially lucid, and he even had Isabella summon everyone back and had dinner with them downstairs.
Seeing him like this, everybody understood that he was probably at death’s door and might not survive the night.
"Grandpa," after dinner, Cooper escorted Old Master Coldson upstairs, "should we give Yolanda Greenwood a call, to have her come over?"
"No need, Grandpa’s alright," Old Master Coldson said heavily, "Calling her at this time would only worry her."
Cooper nodded, "Alright, we’ll do as Grandpa says."
"You go out first, call your younger uncle over; Grandpa hasn’t had a long chat with him for a while," Old Master Coldson instructed.
"Okay, Grandpa, just wait, I’ll call him now." Cooper went downstairs to fetch Christopher Coldson, while everyone else waited in the living room.
Noah Coldson hesitated before speaking up, "Should we call Yolanda over?"
"Forget it, I just asked Grandpa, and he said he’s fine, it shouldn’t scare Yolanda Greenwood," Cooper immediately replied.
"Then let’s leave it," Isabella signaled Noah not to make the call.
"Alright," Noah stood up and walked to the window.
Everyone’s expression was somewhat solemn.
Upstairs, Christopher sat at the bedside, looking at the emaciated old man. He couldn’t remember the last time he had really looked at this person, had really called him Dad.
It seemed that ever since he found out about his mother’s affair, he had always harbored resentment towards Old Master Coldson.
"Christopher," Old Master Coldson started slowly, "Dad knows, for all these years, you’ve always hated Dad."
Christopher forced a smile, "What’s the point of bringing this up now?"
"Some things, Dad knows, if not spoken now, will never have a chance to be said," Old Master Coldson looked into Christopher’s eyes, his own slightly reddening, clearly very emotional.
Christopher was silent, just looking at him, waiting for him to continue.
"What happened back then, Dad wronged you and your mother." Old Master Coldson extended his hand with difficulty, trying to grab Christopher’s, "Dad wronged you."
"If apologies were useful, would Mom come back?" Christopher said with a bitter laugh.
"Christopher, I’m sorry, truly sorry," Old Master Coldson became increasingly agitated, tears streaking down as he looked at his late-coming son.
However, Christopher’s expression remained cold, "I can’t say it’s okay, and I can’t forgive you on Mom’s behalf."
"Dad understands, understands," Old Master Coldson eventually withdrew his hand, "For all these years, you were first with Sunny and then leaving affection everywhere, Dad understands, you were angry with Dad, you are by nature a kind and faithful good child."
"Heh..." Christopher seemed to scoff at this evaluation.
"Christopher, Dad knows, you’ve finally met the person you truly love, Dad doesn’t want you to miss that girl because of your own heartaches, leaving yourself with eternal regret."
Old Master Coldson’s gaze firmly on Christopher, "Christopher, come out from the shadow of your mom’s incident, Dad doesn’t need your forgiveness, but you need to let yourself go, to grasp the happiness of your lifetime."
"Happiness?" Christopher looked down and laughed, then with tears in his eyes looked at Old Master Coldson, "Are you done? Can I go now?"
Old Master Coldson slowly closed his eyes, "Go, let Little Noah come."
Christopher stood up and walked out, stopping at the door without turning back, "Do you know? Hearing about happiness from your mouth is truly an irony."
After he finished, he didn’t wait for Old Master Coldson to speak again, opened the door, and strode away.
He took his things, ready to leave. On his way out, he said, "Little Noah, it’s your turn to listen to the last words."
"Uncle, where are you going?" Noah quickly caught up.
"Christopher, where are you going at this time?" Sunny also caught up, grabbing Christopher’s arm, "Don’t go tonight."
"Let me go," Christopher’s eyes were full of disdain as he looked at Sunny.
"Christopher, for all these years, haven’t you raised enough hell yet?" Isabella couldn’t help but speak out, "You are not allowed to go anywhere tonight."
Christopher laughed lowly, continuing to move towards the exit, "Raised hell? This lifetime, I could never raise enough!"
He pushed the door open forcefully and left without looking back.
"That bastard!" Isabella couldn’t help but curse.
Sunny hesitated, but still followed, "Christopher, when will you ever grow up? No matter what, he’s your father, do you want to let him leave with regrets?"
Christopher turned back and looked at her coldly, "Sunny Coldson..."
For the first time, he called her by her full name so coldly.
A sharp pain struck Sunny’s heart.
"We’ll settle our scores later," Christopher said venomously, then walked away.
Sunny staggered. She had never seen Christopher look at her with such revulsion. Had she really made a mistake this time?
On the second floor, Noah entered Old Master Coldson’s bedroom and respectfully called out, "Grandpa!"
"For all these years, Grandpa has paid the least attention to you, have you ever been angry with Grandpa?" Old Master Coldson asked gently.
Noah immediately shook his head, "How could I? Back then, I was the one who saddened Grandpa, and without Grandpa’s support all these years, I couldn’t have survived outside."
"Silly child, Grandpa wasn’t sad." Old Master Coldson smiled at Noah, as if he saw the six-year-old boy who had resolutely rejected the so-called responsibilities and obligations, just to pursue the life he wanted.
Old Master Coldson forced a smile, "Noah, actually for a long time after you left, Grandpa felt more shame than sorrow, and admired your courage."
"Grandpa!" Noah never expected to be praised by him and was slightly moved, "You are the legend of the Coldson Family, the god in our hearts."
Old Master Coldson slowly shook his head, "Grandpa is happy you’ve succeeded, and believes your future will only get better."
"Thank you, Grandpa." Noah sniffled, "The Coldson family will get better too."
"Grandpa has one last thing to ask you," Old Master Coldson said seriously, looking at Noah, "do you really like Yolanda?"
Noah nodded.
"Then Grandpa has a request for you," Old Master Coldson grasped Noah’s hand, trembling, "no matter what Yolanda faces in the future, no matter how many people you have to fight against, can you take Grandpa’s place as Yolanda’s Guardian God?"
He stated solemnly, "No matter what happens, under any conditions, you unconditionally trust and support her, can you do that?"
"Grandpa, I will definitely do it!" Noah said resolutely.
