Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Definitely Let Cooper Coldson Hold Another Wedding
Lola Gold couldn’t believe what she heard about the secrets and yet she didn’t react much.
"So what?" her voice rarely sounded so forlorn, "I don’t care what others do, all I care about is him..."
Her gaze toward Yolanda Greenwood was as if she were shattered, "But he disappointed me too deeply."
"Lola, I understand how you feel," Yolanda slowly curled her lips, "When I was with Cooper Coldson, I considered things the same way."
She seriously looked at Lola Gold, "But if back then, I had known that Cooper was only trying to repay a favor, and had been aware of the mischief Melissa Greenwood had played, I would have told Cooper instead of letting those minor hurts grow larger and eventually, destroy what we had."
"Even now, I am not sure if Cooper loves me, but I deeply know, I really loved him deeply then," she gave a bitter smile, "Back then, I wouldn’t have let our relationship end because of a third person."
Yolanda fell silent for a while, then sighed deeply, "But I knew too late, so late that my love for him had almost worn out, late enough that I was too hurt to go before him and speak the truth."
"Lola, do you believe that Christopher Coldson loves you?"
Lola Gold nodded, "I believe."
"Then don’t give up easily, don’t give up on your relationship," Yolanda looked down at her stomach, "and don’t give up on the life inside your belly."
Lola Gold’s eyes reddened, she leaned on Yolanda’s shoulder, "Why? Christopher Coldson, that bastard, he obviously loves me, so why does he still hurt me like this?"
She had not been eating well recently, her emotions were unstable, and when Yolanda wasn’t around, she would often cry secretly.
She knew it was a part of her pregnancy, but it made her even angrier with Christopher Coldson.
Sometimes, she felt that it was unfair of fate, why should women suffer these things while men can just continue on with their lives freely.
"Don’t cry, I’ll go to the Coldson Family estate tomorrow, I’ll figure everything out," Yolanda gently patted Lola Gold’s back, soothing her, "It’ll pass, all of it will."
The next morning, after informing her company, Yolanda took a taxi to the old Coldson estate.
Unexpectedly, Noah Coldson and Cooper Coldson were there, but Christopher Coldson seemed to be busy with Randy Carter’s matter.
"Yolanda, what brings you here?" Noah greeted her.
"I came to see grandfather," Yolanda pulled at the corner of her mouth, still feeling a bit awkward around Noah, and hadn’t messaged him in advance.
"Why didn’t you tell me?" Noah followed her, "I could have come to get you."
"I didn’t want to trouble you," Yolanda finished speaking then added, "I thought you had just returned and would be busy with many things."
"No, my superiors approved a week off for me, just taking a few days rest," Noah spoke cheerfully.
"That’s not bad." Feeling Cooper’s gaze upon her, Yolanda turned and saw him avert his eyes instantly.
She shook her head and didn’t bother about it, and went upstairs with Noah.
"You came at just the right time, grandfather’s condition hasn’t been good lately, I was just thinking about when I could bring you here," Noah’s voice was a bit somber.
"Ah?" Yolanda was slightly surprised, "Why has no one told me?"
"They probably didn’t want you to worry." At the door, Noah decided not to go in, "You go ahead."
Yolanda nodded.
"Grandfather sometimes gets very confused nowadays, doesn’t even recognize people..." Noah worried that Yolanda might find it too distressing, and so he reassured her, "But sometimes, he is almost like before. If he doesn’t recognize you, don’t be too upset."
Before he could finish, Yolanda’s eyes were already welling up.
"Don’t cry," Noah Coldson said in a fluster as he tried to wipe Yolanda’s eyes, but he was cautious not to touch her.
"Okay, I’m fine." Yolanda wiped her eyes with her sleeve and forced a smile, "I’ll go inside now."
Upon seeing her, the caregiver whispered softly, "Old Master Coldson has fallen asleep, Miss Yolanda, please have a seat. I’ll step out for now. If you need anything, just ring the bell."
"Alright, thank you for your hard work." Yolanda tiptoed to the bedside and carefully sat down.
Old Master Coldson was covered with a blanket, his breathing was heavy, and his complexion didn’t look good.
Yolanda felt overcome with sadness, tears unstoppable. Just as she was thankful that the Old Master couldn’t see her, she saw him stirring awake.
She quickly turned her head to the side, hurriedly wiped away her tears, and then looked back to meet his gaze.
"Grandpa, you’re awake," she greeted cheerfully.
Old Master Coldson’s eyes were clearly confused; after looking at Yolanda, he looked around as if searching for someone.
"Is the caregiver gone? Are you looking for her?" Yolanda immediately asked.
"You are..." Old Master Coldson finally spoke hesitantly.
Yolanda’s head buzzed; she grabbed his hand hastily, "Grandpa, it’s me, Yolanda. Don’t you recognize me?"
"Yolanda?" Old Master Coldson seemed to concentrate hard.
Yolanda, struggling to speak, said, "Yolanda, I... I’m Cooper’s wife, do you truly not remember?"
"Ah, it’s you, child." Unexpectedly, Old Master Coldson remembered. "Look at my memory! Don’t take it to heart. I felt you looked familiar just now. I’ve remembered."
"It’s good that you’ve remembered." Yolanda forced a smile, feeling something was off.
Sure enough, Old Master Coldson’s gaze shifted to Yolanda’s stomach, and he asked in a low voice, "Is that Cooper’s child you’re carrying?"
"..." Yolanda had no choice but to nod, "Yes."
"Has the wedding been made up?" Old Master Coldson asked again.
Yolanda felt a surge of sadness, completely unsure of how to respond.
"I knew that rascal wouldn’t listen. Yolanda, don’t be upset. Once I talk to him, I’ll make sure he arranges a wedding for you, okay?"
"There’s no need, Grandpa." Yolanda wanted to say that she was already planning to divorce Cooper and that the wedding no longer mattered.
"It must be done," Old Master Coldson insisted firmly. "It must be grand. He is the heir of the Coldson family, and you are the heir’s wife. You must enter the family with pomp."
"Grandpa!" Yolanda couldn’t bear it any longer and laid her head on his hand, beginning to cry softly.
Why was Old Master Coldson so partial to her?
Back when she and Cooper registered their marriage, Cooper had always refused to hold a wedding. Old Master Coldson had insisted that Cooper would make up for it.
At the time, Yolanda, not wanting to upset Cooper or Isabella Ross, had said she didn’t want a ceremony, and the matter eventually faded away.
Yolanda couldn’t believe that after so long, not only could Old Master Coldson not recognize people, but he still remembered this matter.
"Foolish child, why are you crying?" Old Master Coldson struggled to sit up and gently touched Yolanda’s head. "Cooper is lucky to marry you. He doesn’t understand now, but he will later. I won’t be wrong about people."
