Chapter 247: Chapter 247: Share One of Your Twins with Me

Yolanda Greenwood looked down at her plane ticket, convinced she didn’t need to trouble Cooper Coldson and that taking her own seat would suffice.

Then, Cooper Coldson’s voice rang above her head, "You can choose any of these twelve seats."

"Twelve?" Yolanda’s eyes widened in surprise, "You bought all these seats?"

No wonder there were no first-class tickets left when she tried to get one for Leah Diaz.

"Yes, I don’t like to be disturbed." Wealth allows for whims, and Cooper observed Yolanda calmly, "Pick one."

The flight attendant chose this moment to speak up, "Miss Greenwood, you’re four months pregnant, aren’t you?"

Yolanda nodded.

"I recommend the front row aisle seat for you," the flight attendant suggested thoughtfully. "It’s relatively stable here, and it’s easier for you to get up and walk around if needed. Of course, you can choose a window seat if you wish to enjoy the view."

"The aisle will do," Yolanda said without interest in the scenery and quickly sat down, only to find Cooper had taken the seat next to her.

She glanced over, shocked. With eleven other seats available, why would he choose the one beside her, especially after claiming he disliked disturbances?

Cooper seemed to perceive her gaze and said indifferently, "I sit where I want to sit."

The flight attendant chuckled, "Mr. Coldson doesn’t want anyone else interrupting his private time with the Mrs."

Mrs.?

Yolanda’s face turned red, and she immediately started explaining, "No, you’re mistaken, I’m not—"

After all, they hadn’t divorced yet, she technically was still Mrs. Coldson. Yet being addressed as such for the first time, on the eve of their impending divorce, was quite ironic.

Seeing that Cooper made no attempt to deny it, she didn’t feel the need to say more.

Soon, the plane took off.

It was the first time they had flown together, feeling somewhat magical.

Yolanda had often dreamed of traveling with Cooper, enjoying a journey just for the two of them, yet this dream had materialized on this particular day.

"If you feel uncomfortable, just say so," Cooper broke the silence first, his gaze sliding over Yolanda’s now obvious belly.

"It’s alright," Yolanda said with a forced smile, subconsciously stroking her belly to calm the excited little one inside.

She had noticed last time; these two creatures liked flying, and their reaction was even stronger this time.

Cooper asked again, "Is it very difficult?"

"Hm?"

Cooper looked somewhat uneasy, "I’ve heard it’s tough for women, with the eating and sleeping issues and moving around isn’t easy."

"It’s been okay. I had some morning sickness at the beginning, but not much now," Yolanda replied cheerfully when mentioning the babies. "And they’ve been good, so I haven’t really suffered much."

Cooper noted her expression, and he seemed lost in thought.

Could he tell that Yolanda was truly happy now? Was it because of Noah Coldson’s child? Had their relationship grown that strong?

"Big brother has been taking good care of you, hasn’t he?"

"Yes," Yolanda smiled, "He’s thoughtful, takes care of everything more than I do. I owe it to him for the days I’ve been in the States."

Even though Adam Sterling was the one dealing with affairs, Yolanda knew these were Noah’s instructions.

Truthfully, Noah couldn’t be faulted in his conduct towards her.

Cooper Coldson snorted and closed his eyes, saying no more.

He was uncomfortable, feeling almost breathless.

But since Cooper had opened this topic, Yolanda continued along the thread, "You... I heard Melissa Greenwood is infertile."

"Yes." Cooper still had his eyes closed.

"What do you plan to do?" Yolanda asked tentatively, "With today’s technology, if you want children..."

"I don’t want to!" Cooper opened his eyes, looking displeased at Yolanda.

Startled, Yolanda hadn’t expected such aversion to children from Cooper, but she mustered the courage to continue, "Although children can be troublesome, they can also be a harmonizing factor in a relationship..."

Cooper laughed mockingly, "Yolanda, do you really want me to have children with another woman?"

What did he mean by another woman? Did he have someone else aside from Melissa?

"I mean, regarding the child, you should respect Melissa’s wishes," Yolanda went on, "after all, perhaps not being able to be a mother is a regret for her."

"Since when are you so close to her?" Cooper was truly annoyed, "Yolanda, not everyone seeks out troubles like you."

"Trouble? You mean the children?" Yolanda was a little upset, "Why do you see children as trouble?"

"Watching them being born, seeing their first little teeth, hearing them babble ’mommy’ and ’daddy,’ trying to wobble and catch up to your steps..." she spoke wistfully, "isn’t that happiness?"

Damn it!

Each of Yolanda’s words stirred Cooper, and he couldn’t help but imagine experiencing all this with her.

He didn’t feel the slightest annoyance; on the contrary, there was an indescribable sense of happiness.

Seeing his expression soften, Yolanda pressed her point, "Cooper, I really think you could adopt a child; it could bring unexpected joy."

"Adopt one?" Cooper suddenly smiled, "I heard you’re expecting twins. Why don’t you give me one?"

"..." Yolanda was taken aback, immediately refusing, "How could I?"

She calmed down before continuing, "Consider Little May from the other day, so adorable, and... do you remember Little Maria from the orphanage?"

Mentioning Little Maria, a shadow crossed Cooper’s face.

"Don’t you remember her?" Yolanda thought he’d forgotten, "She had a heart condition, we went to the hospital together back then, she underwent heart transplant surgery afterward."

"Didn’t big brother tell you?" Cooper suddenly spoke, his voice heavy.

Yolanda’s heart skipped a beat, "Tell me what?"

"Little Maria’s surgery... it failed."

"What?" Yolanda turned pale, "How could that be? When did this happen?"

"Not long ago. There was a severe rejection after the surgery." Cooper frowned deeply, sighing heavily. He noticed Yolanda crying and regretted bringing it up. "Don’t be too saddened. She was already exhausted in body and spirit by her illness; perhaps, in a way, this was a release for her."

Yolanda looked at him with tear-filled eyes, "How can you be so cold-hearted? She was a living person, someone you knew. Aren’t you sad at all?"

"I’m not sad at all?" Cooper exploded in anger. He’d found it impossible to eat or focus on anything when he learned of the news.

Was this woman expecting him to cry with her now?
