Entangled with My Cousin's Fiancé -
Chapter 23: Was Last Night’s Battle Too Intense?
Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Was Last Night’s Battle Too Intense?
Cooper Coldson’s gaze flickered across the woman’s waist, and his expression turned unsightly to the extreme.
He finally understood what all those spending alerts were about.
"Yolanda, what a coincidence, you’re here too?"
Melissa Greenwood greeted sweetly from the side.
Yolanda Greenwood struggled to lift her head, finally making out the people before her.
Cooper Coldson and Melissa Greenwood, followed by their respective friends.
"Melissa, why bother with her? Don’t want to dirty your eyes, do you?"
Wendy Bennett, Melissa’s good friend, began with a sneer.
She had also been at that birthday party.
"Dirty?" Lola Gold’s fists clenched in an instant, "Wendy Bennett, how many years has your mouth been pickled, that taste is really..."
"You!" Wendy Bennett flushed with anger, red in the face and neck.
"Wendy," Melissa Greenwood tugged at Wendy Bennett, "stop it. No matter what, Yolanda is still Cooper’s wife, and besides, she’s my cousin."
"Melissa, are you out of your mind? She’s still clinging to Cooper Coldson and won’t divorce him, and you’re still treating her as your cousin?"
Wendy Bennett couldn’t contain her anger and stepped forward to push Yolanda Greenwood.
But she was counter-pushed by Lola Gold, stumbling back, "Let sleeping dogs lie."
"Let’s go." Cooper Coldson left with a foul look on his face.
Wendy Bennett spat out one last remark, "Getting so drunk this time, who knows whose bed you’ll end up in?"
The group quickly disappeared.
Lola Gold turned around to see Yolanda Greenwood with tears in her eyes.
"Yolanda, don’t mind them, let’s go find some good-looking guys."
"Forget it." Yolanda Greenwood’s voice carried a sob.
At that moment, she had no mood to look for handsome guys and pulled Lola Gold back to their seats.
"Yolanda, cheer up," Lola Gold said softly.
Yolanda Greenwood hugged Lola Gold’s arm, "I’m sorry, for ruining the mood to have fun tonight."
"Not at all," Lola Gold chuckled, "I quite enjoyed giving them a piece of my mind just now."
"You’re the best." Yolanda Greenwood clung to Lola Gold, acting coquettish.
In a little while, Yolanda’s drunkenness had sobered up quite a bit.
They chatted and laughed, reminiscing about the happy times they had back in school.
After another hour of fun, Lola Gold suggested they should head back, considering Yolanda Greenwood still had to work the next day and needed to be sharp.
"Okay, I’m going to the restroom."
As Yolanda Greenwood came out of the restroom, she saw Cooper Coldson waiting at the door.
The multicolored lights played on his face, giving him a somewhat dreamlike allure, with a deadly attractiveness.
Yolanda Greenwood planned to ignore him and leave directly.
But Cooper Coldson stretched out his long leg, effectively blocking her path.
"Yolanda Greenwood, you’re getting bolder."
Yolanda Greenwood glared at him, "What’s that supposed to mean? Only officials are allowed to light fires and ordinary folks can’t even light a lamp?"
"I gave you that card not for you to buy such indecent clothes and come to the bar to seduce men!"
"Heh..." Yolanda Greenwood chuckled with exasperation, "So it’s the money you’re upset about."
A fire of frustration surged in her heart, "My dear Young Master Coldson, do you need me to take these clothes off right now and give them back to you?"
She grasped the hem of her spaghetti strap dress, lifting it.
It appeared as if she would strip bare if Cooper Coldson so much as nodded.
Actually, Yolanda Greenwood’s figure was particularly good; her usual conservative attire didn’t highlight it, but today, dressed like this, it was hard for anyone not to take a few extra glances.
At that moment, many passersby were already looking their way.
Cooper Coldson’s eyes widened, and he pulled at her hand to tug down the straps, "If you want to go crazy, do it at home, don’t embarrass me here."
"I am going home, it’s you who’s blocking my way."
Yolanda Greenwood looked at him, fuming.
"Cooper?" Not far away, Melissa Greenwood approached.
Cooper Coldson quickly let go of Yolanda’s hand, warning in a low voice, "Get back now."
He then left with Melissa Greenwood.
"Damn man!"
Yolanda Greenwood cursed under her breath and saw that Lola Gold had come looking for her.
"Let’s go, let’s go back."
She took Lola Gold’s hand and walked out.
Upon returning to the Coldson Family home, she wanted Lola Gold to stay the night.
"Forget it, what if Cooper Coldson comes back?"
"How could he?"
Yolanda Greenwood was utterly skeptical.
"He’s already moved out, and I guess he won’t come back before we divorce."
Her tone was full of sorrow, "They say absence makes the heart grow fonder."
"Yolanda!" Lola Gold’s face was full of sympathy.
"I’m fine. It’s not my first day knowing Cooper Coldson is madly in love with Melissa Greenwood."
Yolanda Greenwood gave a bitter smile and tugged at the corner of her mouth.
After seeing off Lola Gold, she took a nice bath and then went downstairs to drink some hangover soup.
Life with someone to take care of you is good, only, who knows how many days it can last.
She didn’t expect to sit down and see Cooper Coldson come back.
She stared at him as if seeing a ghost.
Cooper Coldson sat on the sofa, leaned his head back, and undid a few buttons of his shirt.
Yolanda Greenwood watched him, stunned.
This man was impeccable, even his Adam’s apple was sexy.
How did Melissa Greenwood refrain from leaving a strawberry mark on such a spot when they got intimate?
"Have you looked your fill?"
Cooper Coldson still had his eyes closed.
Yolanda Greenwood quickly averted her gaze.
"Why did you come back?"
"Is that not allowed?"
"Doesn’t the office have a bedroom?"
"Removed it."
Removed it?
Yolanda Greenwood couldn’t help but mutter to herself: Could it be that last night’s battle was so fierce they broke the bed?
The man seemed to have finally rested enough, sat up straight, and looked at Yolanda Greenwood.
"When are we going to get the divorce done?"
"I don’t agree to the divorce."
"Yolanda Greenwood, you don’t have a say in this."
"Then why bother asking me? Go sue at the court."
Yolanda Greenwood got so angry she stood up, looking down at Cooper Coldson.
"Just tell the judge that your true love has returned, that you’re both like dry tinder to a fierce flame and must divorce immediately, not a day to wait."
Cooper Coldson frowned deeply, disbelief in his eyes.
He was about to say something when his phone rang.
Yolanda Greenwood saw that the caller was Melissa.
Cooper Coldson didn’t shy away, picking up the call directly.
Who knows what the other side said.
Cooper Coldson’s voice was gentle in comfort, "Don’t be afraid, I’m on my way now."
He got up to leave.
Yolanda Greenwood felt her anger surging to her head.
"Cooper Coldson, don’t forget you’re a married man. In the dead of night, just because another woman calls you, you’re going to leave? Is that appropriate?"
Cooper Coldson looked at her coldly, "I think it’s appropriate."
Then he strode away.
Yolanda Greenwood picked up a cushion and threw it, "Why even bother coming back?"
She stormed upstairs, furious.
That night, her dreams were a bizarre jumble.
One moment Cooper Coldson was chasing her under dazzling sunlight, both laughing and talking;
the next moment, he turned into a grim-faced Cooper Coldson saying, "Yolanda Greenwood, you make me sick..."
The next day, Yolanda Greenwood got up, exhausted.
Still, she mustered the energy to go to work at Baruy.
Returning to the office, Yolanda Greenwood found her previous workspace was gone.
She was puzzled when she heard Jenny Reyes’s voice behind her.
"I had people move your stuff over here."
Yolanda Greenwood turned around to see Jenny Reyes pointing to a desk that had always been vacant.
"From now on, you sit here; your old spot was blocking the walkway."
Sophie Taylor and others whispered and snickered quietly.
Yolanda Greenwood realized what was happening and immediately bowed deeply to Jenny Reyes, "Manager Reyes, thank you."
At that moment, a voice came from the doorway, "Yolanda Greenwood, right? Director Greenwood is asking for you in her office."
