Chapter 21: Chapter 21 She is the Scheming Woman Who Will Stop at Nothing
Yolanda Greenwood took a taxi directly back to the villa, and upon entering, she asked, "Has the husband come back?"
"Not yet," Jasmine King replied respectfully. "Madam, have you had dinner? Would you like me to cook something?"
Yolanda shook her head. "There’s no need, I’m not hungry."
After she went upstairs to put her things away, she returned to the living room to wait.
She wanted to tell Cooper Coldson about Melissa Greenwood’s actions the moment he returned home.
She didn’t know how much time had passed when Jasmine King shook her awake.
Yolanda’s eyes opened groggily. "Has the husband returned?"
"No," Jasmine King said, her face a mix of embarrassment. "Madam, would you like to go upstairs and rest for a while?"
By then, the sky was already bright.
Cooper Coldson had not come home all night.
Though Cooper often returned home very late in the past, aside from when he was on business trips, he rarely stayed out the entire night.
Was he with Melissa Greenwood?
Had he watched that live broadcast?
Yolanda was restless in her thoughts; she couldn’t wait any longer and must confront Cooper Coldson in person.
"Aunt Jasmine, I’m going out for a bit, I won’t be home for breakfast."
She quickly gathered her things and left.
When they were newly married, Yolanda used to come to the Coldson Group every now and then to deliver Cooper a lovingly prepared lunch.
But each time, Cooper had her take it back untouched.
Gradually, she stopped bothering.
It wasn’t yet working hours, but the receptionist was already there; recognizing Yolanda, she let her through without question.
Knowing the way, Yolanda headed straight to the top floor.
Exiting the elevator, the corridor was empty, so she walked toward the president’s office.
Yet when she reached the door, she saw someone coming out.
It was Melissa Greenwood.
Her hair was slightly disheveled, and several buttons of her shirt were undone, her white fullness almost spilling out.
Noticing Yolanda looking at her, Melissa hurried to do up the buttons on her shirt.
She looked like someone who had just woken up.
"Yolanda, why are you here?"
Melissa closed the door behind her, a hint of shyness appearing on her face.
"Where’s Cooper?"
Yolanda clenched her fists.
She knew there was a bedroom in Cooper’s office, where he sometimes spent the night.
Could they have... last night?
Melissa glanced back into the office.
"Cooper has not woken up yet, Yolanda, let me take you to the nearby rest room to wait."
Yolanda slapped her across the face.
"Melissa Greenwood, do you really want to be ’the other woman?’ Have you no shame?"
Melissa held her face, her eyes wide with shock.
"The other woman?"
"Yolanda, the one not loved is the real ’other woman’!"
"At this point, if you have any dignity at all, you would divorce Cooper immediately and stop clinging to him."
"You wish. As long as we are not divorced, you’re the ’other woman.’"
Yolanda turned and walked away; she did not want to ask whether Cooper had watched the live broadcast or not.
It did not matter.
Although she suspected that something would happen between Melissa and Cooper once Melissa returned, witnessing it was another matter.
She shouldn’t have come just to demean herself.
Melissa, with a swollen red face, watched angrily as Yolanda entered the elevator.
"What are you doing here?"
A cold voice startled her.
"Cooper!"
Melissa’s eyes reddened, and she dropped her hand from her face. "Yolanda was here just now. She seemed to have misunderstood something. Do you want to go explain?"
Cooper glanced at the handprint on her face. "She hit you?"
Melissa sniffled. "I don’t blame her. After all, I’m not legitimately affiliated; being seen at the door of your office so early in the morning..."
"Just call me if you have anything in the future."
His implication was clear: she should avoid coming to the Coldson Group.
"I understand."
Melissa obediently nodded her head. "What about Yolanda...?"
"Don’t bother with her."
Cooper Coldson was utterly indifferent.
He entered the office and headed to the bedroom in the back, intending to change into a clean set of clothes.
But as soon as he pushed open the door, he smelled a scent that didn’t belong in the room.
He frowned and stepped back out.
"I’m going home for a bit. As for the wedding stuff, just handle it yourself, I’ll have Richard Reyes transfer you ten million. Let me know if it’s not enough."
The man strode away with his long legs.
Descending the stairs, he immediately sent a WeChat message to his assistant Richard Reyes.
[Take out the bedroom in the president’s office.]
[Transfer ten million to Melissa Greenwood.]
Melissa Greenwood, left behind in the CEO’s office, was grinding her teeth in hatred. She had finally found out that Cooper Coldson had slept in his office last night.
She rushed over early in the morning, deliberately wearing sexy lingerie and unbuttoning several extra buttons.
But there was no one in the office.
She noticed the bedroom door was open and couldn’t resist lying down on Cooper Coldson’s bed for a while.
Only to come out and run into Yolanda Greenwood.
That Yolanda Greenwood dared to hit her was beyond audacious.
Thinking of the phone call she had received that morning, Melissa Greenwood took out her phone and immediately sent a text message.
[Donation of 5 million, will arrive within three days.]
The recipient was the Muse Awards Committee.
"Deserted Island" was the very film awarded the Muse prize.
Because of last night’s live stream, the committee called first thing in the morning intending to rescind Melissa Greenwood’s award. Only after she promised a donation of 5 million did they finally relent.
And the architect of all these problems was Yolanda Greenwood; Melissa vowed to make her life a living hell.
...
After returning home, Cooper Coldson did not see Yolanda.
"Has the madam returned?"
Jasmine King respectfully replied, "She has returned and went upstairs. It seemed... she had been crying."
"Hmph!"
Cooper Coldson scoffed disdainfully, "She had the nerve to cry after hitting someone?"
Jasmine King didn’t know the full situation, but she had come to realize over the past few days that they were in the process of divorcing.
After some thought, she bravely suggested, "Sir, perhaps you should go upstairs and take a look."
Cooper Coldson didn’t respond and climbed the stairs with his long legs.
He mainly stayed in the guest room, and most of his clothing was there as well.
Passing by the master bedroom, the door was ajar, and the sound of Yolanda making a phone call could be heard.
"He thinks he can play the game of cheating before the wedding, huh?"
"Don’t let me find any evidence, otherwise, in this divorce, I’ll take a big chunk out of Coldson Group."
On the other end of the phone, Lola Gold’s taunting became fiercer.
"Yolanda, you’ve got the right idea. You’ve got to take either his money or his heart."
"Don’t worry," Yolanda wiped away a tear, "I know what to do."
After she hung up the phone, she turned and saw Cooper Coldson with a dark expression standing at the door.
A wave of guilt suddenly overwhelmed her.
"No wonder you didn’t want the one billion I offered. You were eyeing the bigger prize of Coldson Group."
"I..."
Yolanda wanted to explain but couldn’t figure out where to start.
Damn it, the one having an affair during their marriage was him, what right did he have to be angry?
This thought sparked her temper anew.
"Coldson, I meant what I said. Don’t let me find any evidence, because if I do, no one will have an easy time."
"Heh..." Cooper Coldson turned around to leave with a sneer of disdain.
Yolanda chased after him.
"What? Think I’m scheming now?"
"What about Melissa Greenwood stealing the painting? Isn’t she the scheming one?"
"Cooper Coldson, you better open your eyes!"
Cooper turned sharply, his gaze chilling.
Yolanda wasn’t frightened; she stood her ground and demanded, "Didn’t you watch last night’s live stream?"
"If I weren’t the original artist of that painting, it couldn’t have been restored so quickly."
"So, the whole affair was Melissa Greenwood conspiring with my mom, stealing my painting, winning awards abroad with it, buying trends to trample on me."
"She’s the real manipulator who’ll stop at nothing to get what she wants!"
