Chapter 209: Chapter 209 I Absolutely Won’t Allow a Coldson Family Child to Be Left Stranded Outside
Yolanda Greenwood had a chat with Old Master Coldson for a while before she went downstairs, preparing to leave.
"Yolanda, can you come here for a moment?" To her surprise, Isabella Ross called her into the room.
Isabella Ross looked at Yolanda’s slightly bulging belly and gently asked, "How has the prenatal checkup been recently? Is everything going smoothly?"
"Yes, it’s been fine," Yolanda obediently nodded.
"It’s been four months, right?" Isabella Ross asked with concern. "Yolanda, you’re still too thin. You need to eat more. It’s not because that boy, Little Noah, is treating you poorly, is it?"
"No." Yolanda quickly shook her head. "Aunt Ross, actually, this child..."
"I know all about it." Isabella Ross took Yolanda’s hand. "Whether it’s Little Noah or Cooper, they are all dear to me. To me, there isn’t any difference."
Yolanda didn’t quite understand what she meant and after a moment she said, "Aunt Ross..."
Unexpectedly, Isabella Ross interrupted her again. "Yolanda, don’t call me aunt in the future, just call me mom. It sounds more natural."
"Aunt Ross, I think you might have misunderstood something," Yolanda immediately started to explain with nervousness. "Cooper and I... we are just friends, nothing more."
Isabella Ross laughed, "What joke are you making? Aren’t you carrying Little Noah’s child?"
"But this child..."
"Yolanda, now everyone knows the child is Little Noah’s. Surely you’re not thinking of not taking responsibility?" Isabella Ross said looking coldly at Yolanda.
She knew her silly son was unrequited in love.
She asked Yolanda again, "Do you still have feelings for Cooper?"
"No, I’ve already gone to file for divorce with Cooper Coldson today. There’s no chance between us anymore," Yolanda immediately emphasized. "But this doesn’t mean..."
"Okay, you young people can work it out yourselves." Isabella Ross once again forcefully interrupted Yolanda’s words.
She gently squeezed Yolanda’s hand, "Yolanda, no matter what you are thinking, just remember, the child in your belly is from the Coldson family. I will never allow a Coldson child to be abandoned."
Yolanda’s face paled instantly.
Isabella Ross, acting as though nothing was wrong, held Yolanda’s hand and walked her out, "Alright, it’s getting late. You should head back soon."
After seeing them off to the door, she said with a smile, "I’ll be waiting for your good news."
Once the car hit the main road, Yolanda couldn’t help but say, "Big Brother, your mom seems to have misunderstood something."
"What?" Noah Coldson feigned ignorance. He knew Isabella Ross would say something after calling Yolanda away.
"Your mom might think that you and I... are boyfriend and girlfriend." Yolanda said with a mix of laughter and tears. "Big Brother, you really need to clear this up with her."
Noah Coldson was silent for a while before finally speaking slowly, "Can it not be?"
"What?" Yolanda pressed down on the accelerator and parked the car at the side of the road. "Big Brother, what do you mean?"
Her tone made Noah Coldson somewhat concerned.
He thought for a moment before cautiously saying, "I didn’t mean anything by it. I just think... it would be quite nice if we were together, wouldn’t it?"
"Big Brother!" Yolanda immediately became serious. "Although we’ve never explicitly discussed it, I thought you’ve always understood that you and I, we are friends, like siblings, not lovers."
Noah Coldson frowned, "Why? Do you still have feelings for Cooper...?"
"It’s our own business. It has nothing to do with Cooper Coldson, nor anyone else." Yolanda’s face grew cold. "If what I did before gave you the wrong idea, then from now on..."
"Yolanda..." Noah Coldson became a bit afraid, "Don’t be upset. I didn’t mean anything else. I... I’ll talk to my mom about it."
Yolanda nodded, certain in her mind that she should keep some distance from Noah Coldson in the future.
Noah Coldson didn’t expect Yolanda’s reaction to be so extreme; he even came close to breaking things off completely, but he couldn’t understand why since everything seemed fine before. Yolanda went upstairs, leaving him sitting in the car, messaging Lola Gold.
[If I marry Yolanda, would you agree?]
Lola Gold replied quickly, [I’m all for it, with both hands and feet! When’s the wedding? I’ve got my gift money ready.]
Noah Coldson couldn’t help but smile bitterly, [But Yolanda seems very resistant. I can’t figure it out.]
[The way of a woman’s heart is inscrutable. Don’t worry, Big Brother, I’ll take care of Yolanda’s work for you.] Lola Gold replied very quickly.
[Thanks.] Noah Coldson thought for a moment before adding another message, [After it’s done, you can ask for anything.]
Lola Gold saw the second message and frowned slightly, not pleased, [Big Brother, I’m doing all this for Yolanda. So as long as you treat her well, nothing else matters.]
[I understand.] Noah Coldson put away his phone, feeling that everything was not as he expected.
Back at the Coldson household, Cooper Coldson didn’t see Isabella Ross when he returned. He learned from the maid that Isabella Ross had gone to Old Master Coldson’s room.
He went upstairs and was about to knock on the door when he heard the intermittent sound of Isabella Ross’s voice from inside.
"But Yolanda and Cooper are already over. Why do you still persist?"
"Little Noah is sincere. I know that Yolanda’s child isn’t... Dad, after all, the child is from the Coldson family. That will never change."
"Cooper is your grandson, and so is Little Noah. You can’t favor one over the other."
"Anyway, their marriage is already arranged. I hope you’ll think it over, Dad."
Soon after, footsteps could be heard inside the room. Cooper Coldson still stood frozen at the door, having a feeling that something wasn’t right about Isabella Ross’s words.
When the door opened and Isabella Ross saw Cooper standing there, she was startled, "When did you get here?"
"Just now," Cooper said, looking coldly at Isabella Ross. "Why are you so nervous, Mom?"
"When have I ever been nervous?" Isabella Ross walked past Cooper, ready to return to her room. "It’s late. You should talk to Grandfather and then go to sleep. I’m heading back to my room now."
Cooper entered the room. "Grandfather, did Yolanda come by today?"
"Yes." Old Master Coldson looked at his grandson, a hint of distress flickered in his eyes.
Cooper pretended not to see it and chatted with the old man. "I heard that Big Brother... is going to marry Yolanda."
Old Master Coldson remained silent, the feeling of distress deepening in his eyes.
"Aren’t you happy, Grandfather?" Cooper asked directly. "Didn’t you always like Yolanda? Isn’t it good that Big Brother is marrying her?"
The old man’s eyes showed struggle, but in the end, he closed his eyes, choosing to say nothing.
"Well, you should rest early then, Grandfather." Cooper knew there must be something going on.
He left the old man’s room and went straight to Isabella Ross’s room. A voice in his heart urged him to get a clear answer.
Isabella Ross, already on edge, grew even more reluctant to open the door when she heard it was him knocking, "Cooper, whatever it is, let’s talk tomorrow. I’m tired today and have already laid down."
