Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Only When You’re Dead Will They Be Mine

In the hospital room, Lola Gold was still keeping vigil.

After hearing Adam Sterling’s words, the three of them decided to take turns at the hospital, ensuring that Yolanda Greenwood was never left alone.

"Lola, you can go back now, I really am fine," Yolanda said, feeling somewhat apologetic. She truly didn’t want to be a burden to anyone else.

"It’s so boring being here by myself," Lola said as she tidied up the makeshift bed. "I love being here with you, and you can’t make me leave."

Yolanda could only smile wryly, feeling that since Adam had visited, the three of them were acting strangely, as though they were constantly watching her, afraid that something might happen to her.

Unable to persuade Lola, she gave up.

Just then, the door swung open, and, to her surprise, it was Melissa Greenwood who walked in.

Yolanda’s hands immediately clenched into fists; although she had no evidence, she couldn’t shake the feeling that Melissa had something to do with Jaxon Greenwood’s accident.

"What are you doing here?" Lola exclaimed upon seeing Melissa, and went up to slap her across the face. "You’re not welcome here."

The slap was delivered with full force, leaving Melissa’s ear ringing.

She glared at Lola viciously but knew she was no match for her.

Turning instead to Yolanda on the hospital bed, she hissed, "Listen carefully, I will return this slap to your dear daddy."

Yolanda’s face instantly turned deathly pale.

"You wretched woman!" Lola hissed through clenched teeth, her hatred reaching a boiling point. She raised her hand to strike again. "I will kill you today for all the evil you’ve done!"

"Lola!" Yolanda called out to stop her, knowing all too well that Melissa wasn’t one for empty threats.

"Lola, go outside," Yolanda urged, believing Melissa must have come with something to say. If Lola kept hitting her, it might end with the police being called.

Yolanda didn’t want Lola to get into trouble over someone like Melissa. If Melissa needed to be dealt with, it should be by her hand.

"Yolanda..." Lola looked worried. "Why are you even dealing with this trash? Just kick her out."

"You go outside." Now that Melissa was Jaxon’s guardian, Yolanda had to consider that.

Melissa was obviously here for a reason, and Yolanda was willing to give her what she wanted.

"If anything happens, just shout, and I’ll be right outside," Lola warned Melissa before leaving. "Let me tell you, if you dare to lay a finger on Yolanda, I will kill you even if it means going to jail."

Melissa watched Lola leave, seething.

She thought Lola was insane to suggest she would kill for Yolanda—her brain must be waterlogged!

"Speak up, what do you want?" Yolanda asked coldly. "I’ve already told Cooper Coldson that I’ll be filing for divorce soon, and I’ve said the child is Noah’s."

"Ha ha ha..." Melissa erupted in delighted laughter. "Yolanda, that’s hilarious. What do I want? What do you think you have to give me?"

Yolanda gritted her teeth. "Melissa, stop playing these games and state your purpose."

The smile vanished from Melissa’s face. "Yolanda, you’re not stupid, but why has it come to this?"

"The mother you loved is dead, your father has become a vegetable, and the man you loved the most is divorcing you," Melissa clicked her tongue. "Yolanda, why do you think that is?"

Yolanda remained silent, a feeling of suffocation tight in her chest.

"These people are really unlucky," Melissa said, puckering her mouth. "It’s all because they got involved with you, Yolanda. Have you ever considered..."

She leaned in close, pinching Yolanda’s chin forcefully, "Actually, the person who should really die is you."

Yolanda slapped her hand away with force. "If you came here just to provoke me, then you’ve achieved your goal. You can leave now."

"My purpose?" Melissa straightened up, smiling faintly. "Actually, all these years, I’ve also been thinking, what do I really want? Why do I hate you so much?"

Gemma clenched her teeth, her gaze towards Yolanda brimming with resentment, "You surely have no idea; when I was abroad, just thinking of you staying in China, sleeping beside Cooper, thinking of Gemma and Jaxon still protecting you, I couldn’t fall asleep night after night."

"I had already stolen your talent, already taken your parents, your life, the person you love the most, but why?" she nearly screamed, "Why am I still not satisfied?"

Yolanda felt that the person before her had truly gone mad, utterly deranged.

"I’ve finally understood now," Melissa grabbed Yolanda’s arm forcefully, "I want you dead, only with your death can I find peace."

"Whether I stole them or snatched them, I’m always afraid they’ll be mine only temporarily," she squeezed Yolanda’s arm tight, venting her internal spite, "Only with you dead can they truly be mine."

"Madwoman!" Yolanda slapped her in the face.

Melissa chuckled nonchalantly.

"Look at that, you don’t even have the strength to hit someone properly. Yolanda, why haven’t you died yet?"

"Do you want to wait until Gemma, Jaxon, Old Master Coldson, even Noah Coldson, Lola Gold... all these people die because of you, is that when you’ll be satisfied?"

"What do you want to do?" Yolanda felt her whole body shaking.

"I don’t want to do anything, I just want to tell you," Melissa walked out, "the person who should die has always been you."

She opened the door and saw Lola Gold approaching anxiously, glaring at her suspiciously.

"This is ridiculous." Melissa shook her head, "If you’re so capable, why don’t you go fight Sunny Coldson? Snatch Christopher Coldson over!"

"I’m not as low as you!" Lola retorted, her words leaving Melissa white with rage.

Just as Melissa attempted to respond, Lola slammed the door shut, nearly hitting Melissa’s nose.

Fuming, Melissa walked away.

As Lola entered the room, she went to check on Yolanda, "How are you? She didn’t say anything, did she?"

"Nothing." Yolanda’s expression showed no signs of disturbance, "She just wants me to hurry up and divorce Cooper. Seeing that I was indifferent, she found it boring."

"Really?" Lola was skeptical, always feeling it couldn’t be that simple.

Yet Yolanda’s expression truly revealed nothing.

"Really, let’s sleep." The hand Yolanda had under the covers was shaking, but her voice was as calm as possible, "It’s late, I’m tired too."

"Okay." Lola hesitated, then asked, "Do you want half a pill?"

It was a sleeping pill.

Yolanda had developed severe sleep disorders, but as she was pregnant, she couldn’t use medication excessively.

This medicine had been brought by Adam Sterling, specifically for pregnant women. Before leaving, Adam had mentioned that Yolanda could take a little.

"Okay." Yolanda forced a smile.

Lola’s heart wrenched in an instant; she quickly turned away to pour water for Yolanda.

After composing herself, she turned back around, handing the pill and water to Yolanda.

"Yolanda, Adam Sterling said you’re sick now."

Yolanda took the pill, nodding, "I know."

"Yolanda, everyone gets sick, so we just need to treat it properly, and soon you’ll get better." Tears welled up in Lola’s eyes, "Adam Sterling is a national expert; he will definitely cure you."

She grabbed Yolanda’s hand, "So, don’t give up on yourself; we won’t give up either."
